The total number of students in the merit list against each program and discipline will strictly adhere to the sanctioned seat matrix for major programs and discipline-specific programmes.
Once admission is offered by the college or university to candidates, it is mandatory for higher educational institutions to grant admission subject to document scrutiny and compliance with college and university policies. Colleges and universities have discretion to verify income certificates produced by applicants at the time of admission.
In case of doubt regarding income status below 4 lakhs, institutions may request additional relevant documents to ascertain authenticity before granting admission under the fee waiver category.
If the institution is unsatisfied with the claim, they must inform the applicant in writing with justification and grant admission under the non-fee waiver category.
Assam UG Admission 2026 Merit List Preparation and Admission Offer Process
- After academic scrutiny, higher educational institutions will mark students considered for admission by processing the merit list within the admission portal itself.
- Once marked and saved by the HEI, merit lists become visible to students in the merit list section of the SAMARTH portal.
- Students will receive admission offer messages with a URL link in their registered email and mobile number for further processing.
- Admission is confirmed only upon acceptance of the admission offer by the applicant through logging into their admission portal.
- Universities and colleges can then process the application for grant of admission.
- In subsequent merit lists, if an admitted student receives an offer for a program or college in a higher preference order, they can raise a cancellation request on the first day of publication of the subsequent merit list until 5:00 PM.
- The cancellation request will be automatically approved, allowing the applicant to take admission in the preferred institution.
- Fees will be refunded automatically if payment was made through the Integrated Payment Gateway; cash payments require collection from the institution directly.
What’s Next for Students
Waiting lists may be published by respective higher educational institutions if desired, though this is optional. If students appearing in waiting lists are not subsequently added in the next merit list, neither the Department of Higher Education nor the SAMARTH team will be responsible.
The schedule for both non-CUET and CUET admissions may be subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances or natural calamities, with any changes notified accordingly.
Transparency in admissions is ensured through proper consent from students, and retention of original marksheets or certificates by any institution is strictly prohibited.
For assistance, candidates can contact the SAMARTH helpdesk via email at [email protected] or WhatsApp at 9864978356. Candidates should first contact the helpdesk of their applying institution through the Contact Us page on the portal.
Additional resources including registration guides, login instructions, applicant user guides, and admission process guides, are available on the SAMARTH portal website.
