Additionally, the institution recognizes the importance of supporting students financially and offers various avenues for scholarships, financial assistance, and campus employment opportunities.
Faculties are highly experienced with great knowledge and some of them have good teaching and mentorship style.
The classes are also very nice, the library is beautiful, well organized and peaceful.

Dislikes

We get information about scholarships, they are not interested in giving scholarships to poor students like us.
I disliked the lack of facilities in college sports, or music room facilities gym and all and mess is also not good
There is one almirah and one table and one bed provided in the hostel but the mess is really not good which was a problem in every college.

NIT DURGAPUR- Must knows before you venture.

Likes

As far as food is concerned you are eventually going to get bored with the daily routine of the mess food.
there are plenty of restaurants and the Junction Mall outside the campus at a walking distance where you can enjoy your day outs.

Dislikes

Almost every student of NIT DURGAPUR had a dull, stressful and a black and white phase of life exactly like shown in KOTA FACTORY
Assignments nd presentations take away the fun from studies

Placement Experience:

Excellent for CSE, Good for ECE and average for most of the other branches and poor for Civil and Biotech. The institute has shown tremendous growth and performance in CSE placements in last few years which is visible from the stats below also the institute has done pretty well for ECE too this year. But for other branches the stats are not that promising. For Civil and Biotech the average and percentage both are low. Plus avoid MSc courses if possible if you are looking for placement as no student got placed in those.

Academic environment is quite good here.
Sports activities are much good and given importance
Club environment,interaction of seniors much good

Dislikes

Not the permission of getting out at night

Placement Experience:

7 or 8th semester students get eligible for placements Many companies visited like MICROSOFT TATA STEEL JSW IBM ,etc. Offers are quite good avg is 17 lpa About 85% students get placements Job is my first priority next would be giving GATE exam

Likes

Nit durgapur is known for its strong academic programs in sciece and technology
The campus offers good infrastructure with modern amenities
Placements opportunities is also good here

Dislikes

The location of the university is in a very odd place
Mess food becomes a problem sometimes because the food is oily.
Opinions on hostel conditions can vary with some students showing dissatisfaction

Placement Experience:

From 5th semester students gets eligible for campus placements There are various companies like wells fargo, Microsoft that visited and there were total of 700 offers The highest package of NIT Durgapur is 70lacs and average package is 13.64 lpa 83.07% students got placed I plan to do MBA

Likes

The Greenery is the most noticable thing that attracted me the most, the weather is also pretyy good other than summer
The faculties are very good that is very important t me. The Institution very responsible for the wellbeing of the students.
The Classes are also very nice, The library is beautiful, well organized and peaceful.

Dislikes

The mess food is the thing that i mostly hated here .
The restrictions are also very tight,which is reasonable , but sometimes it feels like it is too much.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements are good cmpared to other NITs. All the FANG companies comes to our campus. the highest package last year was 50 lpa, The average package is 12 lpa which is a pretty decent number. Maximum students gets placed.in 2021_22 579 B. Tech students got placed. I also want to be in one of those FANG companies after my degree.

Likes

Nit durgapur has various cultural and tech clubs
Durgapur has students from different parts of India

Dislikes

It lacks the NIT standard infrastructure.

Placement Experience:

Placements are pretty good in NIT Durgapur. Many companies including Microsoft visit NIT Durgapur each year for recruitment. In session 2023-24 84.66% students got placed with highest 70lpa and 13.62 avarage lpa.

College life at NIT DGP

Likes

College campus, hostel life, Departmental facilities.
Hostel ambiance is good and i liked thr hostel things
Departmental professors are good and very helpful

Dislikes

Mess food i didn't liked very much and the quality is sometime poor

Placement Experience:

After 6th semester students are eligible for campus placement. Top companies which visited are Microsoft, amazon, Qualcomm, samsung, etc. Nearly 80% students get placement. I will do job after getting my degree.

Beautiful, Peaceful and lushious green campus
really supporting faculty members (except the electrical ones)

Dislikes

Restrictions for first year students from going out of the hostel campus

Placement Experience:

For campus placements you have to be atleast in 3rd year. The companies like Microsoft, oil india, bharat petroleum, reliance, physicswallah visit our campus and offers a very good package for high skilled students. Highest package for 2022 was 73 lakhs by flipkart to a mechanical engineering students and 15 students got 50 Lakh+ packages.

The students are eligible for placement from 3 rd year for internship. The company that came to our campus are axis bank, Microsoft, oracle,ONGC, etc .There is an avg placement percentage of 80 and above%.My plan after getting a degree to get a nice job with a happy family.

NIT DGP Reality for upcoming student..

Likes

I like coding as my background interest other than my own branch and I want to do frontend and backend both web development..
I study with my hostel mates hole night and it is a best experience for us.. Group study is much beneficial for us..
I like to spend free time by playing badminton with my friends anytime at about 12:am also..

Dislikes

Our college have so much restriction in 1st year ,this is something I don't like ..
Most of the area my college is covered with trees only..
There are not too much shop and cafe in our big college

Placement Experience:

From 3rd semester students become eligible for placements.. There are about 200 company visit to our college.. And they offers almost 800 jobs. There are big companies such as Oracle , JP Morgan, TCS, and much more.. Almost 90% get placed at the end of 4th year.. I have to do MTech after getting job in some company with some agreement with that college..

Here is a detailed review shared by my brother who completed his graduation from NIT Durgapur

Infrastructure: Honestly, the infrastructure isn’t all that great but will provide all the basic amenities necessary for a good academic environment.
Faculty: Most students have to resort to self-study because the professors are not very passionate about teaching. However, if you do good projects under a professor, you may be able to pursue a master's in a foreign university.
Placements: NIT Durgapur has recorded excellent placements. This year the highest CTC offered was INR 70 LPA while the average salary offered was INR 13.64 LPA. The top recruiters included TCS Ninja, PwC, ICICI Bank, Microsoft, and many others. More than 100 recruiters participated in the placement drive and 633 students were placed.
Opportunities: The NIT tag will open a number of opportunities for you and the alumni network is also quite extensive. You can also avail opportunities like workshops and clubs.
Campus life: The campus life is very active with many fun-filled events like the freshers' farewell party and celebration of regional festivals. Additionally, a number of cultural and technical fests are also held.
Administration : The administration is very slow and is not cooperative. You might face some issues.
Location : NIT Durgapur faces no major connectivity issues. The railway station is 30 mins or 14 km away while the nearest airport is at Andal, which isn't well connected, so Kolkata Airport will be a better option. You can find the Auto rickshaw stand just at the main gate.
