Ans: There are few IITs who take Ph.D students after BTech currently.now, students also has a chance to direct entry to PhD for 4 year degree programmes.scholarships are also provided for PhD in India.some of the scholarship exams are  CSIR-NET, GATE, DBT, and ICMR JRF exams which provides financial assistance to pursue PhD.

Entrance exams are also conducted by various  IITs and IISERs. Scholarships amount and its number increases every year as the Govt puts strong emphasis on indeginoeus research.  a higher-level career path towards a leadership role could be achieved by obtaining a PhD degree.

Ques: How can I go abroad after BTech Biotech for a Masters (MS) or PhD?

Ans: It is strongly encouraged at our Department that the BTech students take research projects during their tenure at Bennett University which is recognised as the best Biotechnology engineering colleges in India.Research project results are also helpful for getting good scholarships and institutions.. Since biotech is a major part of the economy in many western countries (e.g., as high as 40% of venture capital funding goes to Biotech in the UK), the number of scholarships are much higher even compared to the mass-optimized discipline of computer science.

Ques: What is the difference between a 3 years BSc Biotechnology /microbiology /zoology / botany and  a 4 year BTech Biotechnology?

Ans: BSc degree is a science course, while BTech is a technology course. BTech Biotechnology provides  hands-on training and experience  on how to convert a science knowledge and discovery into a scalable and marketable innovation.

For e.g BSc Biotechnology is involved in the discovery of insulin (the blood glucose regulator enzyme) However, generating insulin inside a microorganism in a large amount, and then upscaling it into a metric-ton production facility for commercialization is BTech Biotechnology. The advantage of BTech Biotechnology is that it  provides research project-based hands-on learning, whereas a BSc program would rather be more on the theoretical side.

Ques: Is it possible to do a PhD right after BTech Biotech at universities abroad?

Ans: Yes,  direct entry from BTech to Ph.D. programs are also available in some universities for bright students.

The students are taken at an MS program. If their training and aptitude are found suitable for Ph.D., then they usually transition into Ph.D. after 1 year. The quality of project work done should be good enough to meet the requirements of  BTech programme w.r.t. conference papers and publications which largely determines the chances of getting into a good institution even with financial support.

Fees and Financial Aid

The total year wise fees is 200000. Which include tution fees was around 60000.Registration fee was 2000 Rest admission and lab fees. Same fee category for everyone other than donation. Might, be slighlty change if person opt for scholrship. U.P. Govt. Scholarship is available anyone with total family income below 8 lakh can opt for scholarship. Else, if person is good in studies and mentain the grades will get the scholarship strippened around 30000 per semester.

Faculty

The faculty to student ration was pretty good. The faculties are approachable but the things that lack they won't tell you the skills you need to work or required to get better placement or opportunity. Dr. Muthu is the best facultie in the whole Biotech department. He is exploring a lot fields like Drug designing. The Neeraj Jha is the faculty I don't thing is suitable for such privilege job as faced lot of discrimination because of him.

Placement Experience

1. Eligibility for Campus Placements Students typically become eligible for the main campus placement drive from the 7th semester (final year). Companies set specific academic eligibility criteria, which often include: * A minimum B.Tech CGPA of around 7.0 * Minimum percentages (e.g., 70%) in 10th and 12th board examinations Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) can be secured through excellent performance during the summer internship period, usually after the 6th semester. 2. Companies Visited and Number of Offers The total number of companies visiting the NIT Durgapur campus exceeds 210 per year. Specific company data for Biotechnology is generally combined with overall placement statistics. Prominent recruiters often include TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Deloitte, and Capgemini, along with some core sector companies. Biotechnology students are commonly offered roles in IT/Software, Data Analytics, and Consulting, in addition to core R&D and Pharma profiles. 3. Highest and Average Package Details Package statistics vary from year to year: * Highest Package (2023–24): Approximately ?11.89 LPA * Average Package (2023–24): Approximately ?6.91 LPA * Average Package (2022–23): Approximately ?9.02 LPA The highest packages are generally offered by IT and analytics firms to students with strong coding and quantitative skills. 4. Percentage of Students Getting Placements The placement percentage for the Biotechnology branch has shown significant fluctuation: * 2022–23 Placement Rate: Approximately 90.32% * 2023–24 Placement Rate: Approximately 30.19% Placement percentages vary depending on the number of eligible students and overall market conditions each year. 5. Plans After Completing the Degree (Common Biotechnology Career Paths) The main career avenues for Biotechnology graduates include: 1. Higher Studies: Pursuing M.Tech or PhD degrees, often specializing in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or Biochemical Engineering. 2. Core Industry Jobs: Roles in R&D, Qu

Campus Life

As a First-Year Student, These are my experiences. 1. The Festivals * Recstacy (Cultural Fest): * When: Spring Semester (typically April). * Your Role: This is the biggest event of the year. Expect 3–4 days of concerts, dance battles, and fashion shows. As a first-year, you will likely participate in "hall decorations" and inter-hostel competitions. * Aarohan (Techno-Management Fest): * When: Traditionally February/March (dates may vary). * Your Role: Organized by the Centre for Cognitive Activities (CCA). This is where you see robots fighting and hackers coding. It is a great place to start your technical journey. * Freshers' Welcome: * When: First semester. * Your Role: Department-wise or hostel-wise socials organized specifically to welcome you. 2. The Library. The Central Library is more than just books; it is a quiet refuge from hostel chaos. As a student, you can borrow textbooks for the entire semester from the Book Bank. This saves you the cost of buying books for Physics, Chemistry, and Math. The library has high-speed Wi-Fi and LAN. You get free access to major research journals (IEEE, Springer) and e-books, which you will need for your first-year assignments. 3. Classrooms & Labs: New Academic Block (NAB): Most first-year classes happen here or in the large Lecture Halls. These are gallery-style classrooms (stadium seating), ensuring you can see the board even from the back. 4. Sports and Extracurricular activities: The Oval & Lords: The Oval is the main ground for cricket and athletics. Lords is the football ground. SAC (Student Activity Centre): Contains the Gym and indoor games (Table Tennis, Badminton). Night Sports: The Basketball and Tennis courts have floodlights, so you can play late into the evening after classes. 5. Social Clubs: There are multiple clubs in the college for exposure of students accross multiple domains and field of interest. Some of them are: CCA,Literary circle, EDC, Spic macay,DC, MUC, GLUG, MNTC

Campus Life

My overall campus life experience at VIT till now has been very memorable especially because of the social environment, club participation and the impressive infrastructure provided to students. the campus is always very happening with events happening throughout the year, the annual cultural fest Riviera usually held in february brings students together through concerts, competetions and celebrity performances, and also the annual technical fest gravitas, that hapens in september, focuses on innovation, hackathons, and workshops. beyonf academics the campus promotes physical and creative developments through sport facilities such as cricket, football, basketball, swimming etc. student run clubs and chapters play a major role in shaping social life, these clubs and groups help student build confidence, explore interest and expand their social circle and feel more connected to the campus life.

Course Curriculum Overview

the course curriculum aligns with the constantly developing field requirements in real world. the college updates its course curriculum time to time to stay updated and provide us with the cutting edge technology knowledge. This is what influenced me to take up this course as it doesnt stay old and not updated. This provides us with the knowledge of ongoing technology trends in the ongoing outside world. Hands on experience lab facilities are provided to make us confident in dealing with our field in real world applications. The course curriculum can be improved in areas such as more industrial visit twice every month to make us feel connected to the industrial applications that is related with our course. 3 major exams are conducted every alternative month to test us and stay connected with our course knowledge.

The campus life is good, the fests comes in every two (engifest and yuvaan are the biggest fests in Feb and October respectively) months big stars like sonu nigam visited last year.i think every book relevant to our courses is available in the library. projector, boards and acs are available in every classroom. there are many sports like cricket, badminton, tennis, table tennis, kabaddi, fussball and table tennis badminton and fussball is in every hostel.this is sometimes good sometimes bad like there is politics in clubs thats a bad point and we get exposure to every talent that's a good thing

Faculty

The faculty to student ratio is about 50:1 faculty relationships are good with the students our HOD yasha hasija and our ex-HOD's are very supportive.I cannot mention the name directly but mathematics faculty of college trasha gupta don't give good grades.the examination level of theory exam is sometimes difficult and the grading is relative so it's not a big reason to worry about the exam difficulty about 15% of students fails to pass the exam.our course curriculum is very nice for the med students but for non-med it's difficult to get in the environment.

Galgotias university tution fees for b tech vary and depends on the program and department choosen by the student. For b tech in computer science engineering and b tech in mechanical engineering, the fees is around INR 149000- 154000 and also additional cost includes exam fees which is around 10000 per year for some course like EEE and ECE. Other b tech programs might have slightly different fee structure.

Campus Life

My experience in galgotias university is quite balanced in terms of campus life and social exposure . The environment feels energetic and diverse because students comes from different state and background which makes more fun to interact and make friendships and build network

A famous which has so many buildings but engineering for sure is the best of them all. All 6 floors of the building will see chirping from morning till evening. There's a central library but our departmental library is in the engineering building and it is sufficient. Also, playing area is immense and indoor sports too are no wonder the best because to keep time off, university has maintained and developed enough unwinding points.

Faculty

At our university a task force or i don't know what organisation do we have but faculties are taken after rounds and rounds of interviews. It is unlikely that the aura that they have farmed in their lives can ever be matched. Research field they have excelled and in teaching they have gone beyond the skies. So how much ever kudos do I present to them it will still be less.

The faculty to student ratio is 50. The faculty always encourages the students to ask doubts and they ensure to provide an environment including the aspects of active learning, nurturing the growth of students. There are 2 exams, mid terms and end terms. Not many students fail these exams, it's relevant to the course curriculum since it involves all the aspects of the syllabus that we covered.

Campus Life

Many events are held annually. Additionally, the library is a bookworms haven, offering a plethora of books for the students to read, the classrooms have been equipped with the latest technology, smart boards for ensuring active learning. The campus is very large with many clubs offering opportunities to students to show their specific skills and to learn several more.

Course Curriculum Overview

Heritage Institute of Technology has the best Biotechnology curriculum for B.Techin WB. The infrastructure and faculties has good connections and well-versed in research. The institute allows one compulsory internship to be completed during 3rd year, which allows us to facereal-life industry problems. Teaching methods can be improved and advanced by not just reading from ppts, but letting students face the industry more. Suprose tests are held throughout the semester. Practical exams happen before theory. End-of-semester theory exams are held in May and December, every year.

Campus Life

Every year, tech fests, business fests such as HULT PRIZE; and respective clubs have their own fests. The institute has an underground library with ample books from curriculum to literature in different languages. It also houses a digital library. Every classroom has a chalk board and a smart board, equipped with a projector. Sports such as cricket and football trainings are provided. Student-run social groups are plenty, the institute has its own clubs - drama, dance, sports, science, language, etc.

There are total of 9-10 faculties in the whole Biotech Department. And my batch has 49 students. Dr. Nitai Basak ( Head of Department) ( Obsessed with Biotechnology) (I Kind of liked him) Dr. A.K Jana ( He is fine, every student wants to do minor/major project under him, becuase he is very chill) Dr. Indu Chauhan (She was my guide for minor/major project, helped me to get the internship, will help only if you reach out to him) Dr. Anee Mohanty (I didnt liked her, she only supports the topper students) Dr. Sumer Singh Meena ( I liked him too, he was also good and some what chill) Dr. Prangya Ranjan Rout ( I liked him alot, he was too good to talk and discuss anything) Dr. Pritam (Not Sure his full name) (new faculty) Dr. Chandi Charan Patra ( He was too good for students, very helpful in writing the review and research paper) Dr. Mahesh Kumar Sah ( He is not so good)

For Biotechnology, placements are very poor. The average on campus package of Biotech student is around 6 LPA, and only 5-6 students get placed among a batch of 49 students. Around 10-12 companies allowed Biotechnology for placements. Highest package for Biotech 2025 batch is 11LPA Lowest Package is 3.5 LPA

Fees and Financial Aid

I am enrolled under the management quota and the yearly fee for my course is aroung 4,00,000. This amount remains consistent across all four years of the program, with no significant increase during the course duration. The Rs: 4,00,000 yearly fee includes: 1. Tuition fees 2. Lab and development fees 3. Excluding admission and registration charges(first year only) 4. Also excluding other compulsory charges such as exam fees, library fees etc... There is also a one time caution deposit included in the first year payment, which is refundable upon course completion, subject to clearance of dues. I have not availed any scholarships or financial aid, and i have been self-financing my education throughout the duration of the program.

Placement Experience

In my college, on campus placement opportunitiesd for core biotechnology and life science fields were quite limited, While there were placement drives conducted during the final year, the majority of companies that visited were from IT, customer support, and non-core sectors, which weren't directly relevant to the field of biotechnology.

Otherwise college provide scholarship to those students who have better academic records.

Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum is good because of the subjects included such as Mechanical, electrical, electronics, etc. The syllabus do not vast and not very easy. Any curriculum does not prepare students for real world problems the experience and internship prepare for it. But the curriculum is best for handle the world problems. The curriculum should more focus on the practical basis. There are 5 exams are conducted before semester exams, which is the best thing to prepare for exams and due to this students performance is well.

Ques. How good is biotech at BIT, Mesra?

● Top Answer By Indrani Pahari on 19 Apr 21

Ans. I would like to share the experience of one of my cousins, who studied biotech at BIT Mesra. It all started after he secured a decent rank in his AIEEE exam and through the All-India quota got admission in BE- Biotechnology course, offered by BIT Mesra. In the first year of his engineering, students studied the same subjects irrespective of their branches. At the end of his first year, he was quite confident that he had studied hard and cleared all subjects without any problems. After getting into his second year on the first day in the department he got the reality check. From that day onwards, he doesn’t advise people to join Biotechnology, here at BIT Mesra. Some vital points about Biotechnology, BIT Mesra: The lab equipment is world-class but none of them truly work. If some of them do the students are not allowed to operate them. The class schedule is quite hectic, students will have classes throughout the day, 5 days a week. For the next 3 years, same things are taught to you under different subject titles. It's like every semester. So from the experience, I shared with you gives you in and out of the field. Now, it is your choice whether you want to get enrolled in the particular field or not.Read more

Ques. Should I take the biotechnology branch at NIT Raipur?

● Top Answer By Shreea Tiwari on 25 Mar 21

Ans. My brother completed his B. Tech in Biotechnology from NIT Raipur in May 2016. The reason for choosing it was because of the brand value. But after being in the college and started taking interest in the studies and various activities, it went on to be a great 4-year long journey. Biotechnology is an amazing subject with many interdisciplinary projects coming up your way. You can always combine your knowledge of biotechnology with other fields, like Electronics,  It is a trustworthy institute for CSE. You will have to work yourself to achieve something big.  Companies that visit NIT Raipur include some good names but not the high-end ones like Google, Facebook but the ones like Oracle, Samsung, Infosys, CTS, CIL, BPCL, Mu-Sigma, Polaris, Yodlee, Analytics Quotient, Tricon Infotech, Capgemini, Wipro, Barclays, Amazon, Pradan, Resonance, etc. Placement Percentage 90-100% Highest Package 17 Lakh Average Package 7-8 Lakh Lowest PAckage 3.5 Lakh The number and level of the companies which visit the campus is going to go up in the coming years. The institute is fast developing in every aspect, be it infrastructure or the quality of students taking admission each year. With a score of 170 in JEE Main, you have a pretty good chance of getting admission in CSE through the home state quota. You might even end up getting some other branches like EE, ECE, etc. One of my friends has passed the third year from CSE, NIT Raipur, and is interning with the UnitedHealth Group, the sixth on the Fortune 500 list of companies.Read more

Ques. I am doing BTech biotech from IMS Engineering College Ghaziabad. What is the scope of my jobs in the future both on and off campus?

● Top Answer By Barkha Roy on 23 Jun 21

Ans. Since B.Tech Biotech is the newly evolving sector in India, you need to struggle a little to get placed in decent jobs. Most core companies do not hire B.Tech students as they get their work done by BSc. Graduates at a very low pay scale, public sectors are good to look for a job. If you want to go into the research and development field, then you need to go for JRF interviews, once you get selected you will do various projects under a well-qualified scientist. Also, 2 years of JRF and SRF can get you a Ph.D. degree. You can join various research centers like ICAR, CSIR, NIO, and many others. You can even give GATE, or GRE and do masters first, then apply for a job. This will make you more capable and many other options will be open for you after pursuing a master's degree. Thus concluding we can say that though there are options for you to enter the research and development field, joining research centers, applying for a job, or searching for a job. But pursuing a master's degree would be a much better option as it will provide you ample opportunities to opt for.Read more

Ques. How is the biotech department of BIT Mesra?

● Top Answer By Ayantika Ghose on 19 Feb 21

Ans. The Biotech Department of BIT Mesra is average. If you want to join a core company after completing your degree, there are better alternatives. Maximum placement at the institute is in IT and Analytics. Among the companies that visit the campus for pavement, Nestle is the only one that is close to your area of interest.  Here are some other facts that you need to know about the Biotech department.  The department has great faculty and infrastructure. Despite that, you will see many students consulting a lot of books for their course-work, as it is not close to the concept of engineering that they had in mind. As mentioned before, very few core companies visit the campus placement. One of my friends pursued Biotech from BIT Mesra and during her time Biotech students were allowed to sit for only a few consultancies as well.  There are alumni of this institute who secure good off-campus placement offers on their own. So, getting a good job offer depends on your effort. This is a brief picture of BIT Mesra. The final decision is up to you.Read more
