NIT Rourkela released the 1st round selection list for MBA 2026-28 on April 23, 2026, with 72 provisionally selected candidates.

National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela has released the 1st round selection list for its Master of Business Administration (MBA) program for the 2026-28 academic session. The announcement was made on April 23, 2026, following the Group Discussion and Personal Interview rounds conducted on April 15-16, 2026.

A total of 72 candidates have been provisionally selected for admission, subject to compliance with eligibility criteria and successful completion of pre-admission formalities. The admission ceremony will take place on May 7, 2026 at the School of Management, NIT Rourkela.

The selection list includes candidates from various categories including General (OP), Other Backward Class (OB), Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Physically Challenged (OPPH) categories.

The selected candidates must appear in person for admission on May 7, 2026 at 10:00 AM in Room Nos. SM 324 & 325 at the School of Management. Additionally, a waiting list of candidates has been prepared, and if vacancies exist after the first round admission, remaining wait-listed candidates may be called for admission on May 15, 2026.

The vacancy position after the first round admission will be published on the institute website in due course.

Selected candidates must pay the admission fee of Rs. 1,64,500 (Rupees One Lakh Sixty-four Thousand and Five Hundred only) online through the SBI Collect gateway.

The first semester fee includes admission fee (one-time), tuition fee of Rs. 1,00,000, hostel seat rent, hall establishment fee, caution money (refundable), and mess advance. The total fee structure for all four semesters amounts to approximately Rs. 5,88,500, with the second year fees being slightly lower at Rs. 2,94,000 total.

Essential Documents Required for Admission on May 7, 2026

Selected candidates must bring original documents along with self-attested photocopies to the admission ceremony on May 7, 2026.

Required documents include High School Certificate for proof of date of birth, Pass Certificate of the qualifying examination, Memorandum of Marks from all examinations starting from HSC onwards, College Leaving and Migration Certificate, Conduct Certificate from the last institution attended, three passport-size colored photographs, and proof of admission fee payment.

Candidates whose results are awaited must provide a Course Completion Certificate from their Principal/Registrar and an undertaking that they will produce the qualifying marks by September 30, 2026, failing which their admission will be cancelled and all fees forfeited.

Category-Specific Documents and Reservation Requirements

Candidates claiming reservation under SC/ST/OBC/EWS categories must produce valid certificates as per Government of India guidelines at the time of admission. OBC certificates must have been issued on or after April 1, 2026, and candidates must submit the OBC certificate in the prescribed format (Annexure-II) along with an undertaking (Annexure-III) specifically for admission to academic programs.

SC/ST candidates must produce certificates as prescribed by the Government of India, while EWS candidates must provide valid EWS certificates. Physically Challenged (PH) candidates with minimum 40% disability must produce a disability certificate issued by a Medical Board constituted under the PWD Act, valid until September 15, 2026 if the disability is temporary.

What’s Next for Students

After successful admission on May 7, 2026, selected candidates will officially enroll in the MBA 2026-28 program at NIT Rourkela's School of Management. Candidates whose results are still awaited must submit their final marks and degree certificates by September 30, 2026, or face cancellation of admission and forfeiture of all paid fees.

The institute follows a fully residential policy, and students are required to stay in hostels unless they meet specific exemption criteria (such as being from Rourkela or staying with parents).
