What are Eligibility Clauses in KCET?
Eligibility clauses are conditions that decide whether a candidate can claim Karnataka quota seats. Each code (A1, B, C, etc.) represents a different eligibility situation.
- Clause A / A1 → Students who studied in Karnataka for required years
- Clause B / B1 → Studied in Karnataka + parent studied in Karnataka
- Clauses C–H → Special cases (language, defence, domicile, etc.)
- Clauses I–O → Government employee, defence, other specific eligibility groups
NOTE:
- Clause Y candidates = Non-Karnataka candidates
- These candidates are NOT eligible for Karnataka reservation benefits
- They are exempt from document verification and can directly participate in counselling

Documents Required for Verification
Candidates must carry:
- KCET 2026 admit card
- Application form printout
- Aadhaar card (ID proof)
- Class 10 & 12 marksheets
- Study certificate
- Caste / income certificate (if applicable)
- Parent documents (if required under clause)

During the verification process, KEA officials will check all original documents submitted by the candidate and match them with the details provided in the application form. Once everything is verified successfully, candidates will be issued a verification slip, which is an important document for the next stage. Only those candidates who receive this slip will be allowed to participate in the option entry (choice filling) process.
After document verification is completed, KEA will begin the option entry process, where candidates can select their preferred colleges and courses. This will be followed by multiple rounds of seat allotment based on rank and preferences. Candidates should keep all their documents ready, as they will be required again during the admission and reporting process.
