HBTU Begins Admission 2026 for M.Tech/M.Sc/PhD Programs; Apply by May 22

Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU), Kanpur has opened online registration for Master of Technology (M.Tech), Master of Science (M.Sc), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programs for the academic session 2026-27.

Eligible Indian residents can register through the official admission portal at hbtuadm.samarth.edu.in from April 27, 2026 (Monday) to May 22, 2026 (Friday, midnight). The non-refundable registration fee is Rs. 2,500 for all programs.

HBTU offers diverse postgraduate opportunities across engineering, chemical technology, basic sciences, and pharmaceutical disciplines. M.Tech admission is merit-based through valid GATE scores (highest priority), CUET (PG)-2026 scores, or the University Entrance Test (UET-2026).

M.Sc programs accept candidates with IIT JAM, CUET (PG)-2026, or GAT-B (for Biotechnology) scores.

PhD candidates must meet specific research qualifications. All programs require a minimum 55% marks in qualifying examinations (50% for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD categories). Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree from a UGC-recognized university.

• Candidates must visit the official admission portal at hbtuadm.samarth.edu.in and click on "New Registration" to create an account with valid email and mobile number.
• They should fill the online application form with personal details, educational qualifications, and select their preferred program based on eligibility criteria.
• Applicants need to upload scanned documents including photograph (<500 KB), signature (<500 KB), educational certificates (<1024 KB), and category certificates if applicable (<1024 KB).
• After completing the form, candidates must pay the non-refundable registration fee of Rs. 2,500 through online payment gateway before May 22, 2026 (Friday, midnight).
• They should carefully verify all submitted information as the university will not be responsible for any errors in judgment by the candidate.
• Once payment is confirmed, applicants will receive a registration confirmation email with their application reference number for future correspondence.
• Candidates are advised to keep their login credentials safe and regularly check the admission portal for updates on document verification dates and merit list announcements.

What’s Next for Students

Candidates with valid entrance exam scores will undergo online document verification from May 26 to June 01, 2026, followed by academic fee deposition from June 02 to June 04, 2026.

Candidates without valid GATE, CUET (PG), or JAM scores can appear for University Entrance Test (UET-2026) scheduled for the last week of July 2026. The UET-2026 syllabus will be based on the respective GATE syllabi or as prescribed by the university.
