Remarks

The admission was based on the best four scores as per the class 12th marks of a student. The cutoffs for economics honours are among the highest in any college at DU. You must have done maths in your 11 and 12th class. There was a Sikh quota also in Khalsa college. The application form is the same for all the DU colleges. No separate form has to be filled.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course is a difficult one and contains rigorous mathematics along with economics. If you are weak at maths, don't opt for it. The level of exams is also high and difficult to clear. It will require you to study daily rather than study just before exams. Some profs are good while some are useless in their capacity. The cgpa is relatively low in this course as compared to BCom and other science courses. All in all it's a prestigious course.

Placement Experience

3.5

Students of sem 5 and 6 are eligible for placements. The placements are not good as compared to other colleges. Students from courses such as BCom and eco hons do well but other courses can't do well. The average package hovers around 7lakhs while the highest is around 11-12 lakhs. Very limited students are placed in companies. Most opt for masters in other colleges. Companies like Bain, Nation with Namo, Deloitte, etc visit the college for recruitment.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee is 21k on average, annual fees. There are scholarships available for students with financial problems and other issues but the number is quite less and not of any use per se. The hostel fee is around 80-90k per sem which makes it even more expensive to stay there apart from other expenses.

Campus Life

4.5

The campus life is good, being a college on the north campus you can attend events in other colleges. Khalsa lags behind in terms of conducting fests and events. The annual fest is Lashkar conducted in Feb-march. The departmental fests are also conducted by all departments and witness a good footfall of students. Classes are AC and conventional. There are societies related to every genre like debate, Bhangra, music, poetry, civil services, etc. They are very active in conducting events.

Other Applied Colleges

Ramjas college | Eco hons

This is because as per the cutoff I got this college only and it is in north campus

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because i have a keen interest in history . my curriculum prepare me for my future , it develop a thinking way in that way so that i can think in all the ways and direction. it teaches how small impact or method or matter impacted whole future. so your small decisions also played role in what will be your future be. i think there is a great need to improve in teaching method. mainly history is not only limited upto dates and king stories . it is alot from this . it teaches many things which sharp a individual personality. Exam happened twice times in a year and timing for core subject is 3 hours and for value and skill addition subject it is 1/2 hours depending upon subject

Course Curriculum Overview:

Economics is one such course which I feel complements every other discipline and since it talks about human behaviour, so it also teaches us a lot about the real world. The timing of exams can be changed by delaying exams by some time so that we get enough time for preparation. Also, the vacations are very less due to which people from far away cannot go to their homes.

placement and internship fares are regularly conducted on campus where various companies which are mostly start-ups visit to recruit students for internships and entry level roles. Students become eligible for internships from the first year itself. placement opportunities are generally available after the completion of the full degree and only final year. Students are eligible to apply for full-time rules. last during our last internship and placement fair over 20 companies visited and recruited almost 150 candidates. There are no separate records distinguishing internship from placement. The highest package reported for economics honours is around 12 lakhs per annum and the average package is approximately five lakhs per annum. As per my future plans,I intend to pursue a masters degree after completing my undergraduate course.

For USME, FMCG and Financial companies are the ones which are put in place. The only reason is that those are the companies where we can add value and placements of both courses of USME happens together and combined if I say around 75% students are placed. My plan though is to join GIPE after my graduation ends this year.

DTU because East campus is more known for USME placements revolve around us. Now core companies of our sectors are the ones that deals with finance, insurance or stocks. So nearly 20-30 companies of that space or sector hires over 100 students of BAE every year.

Our college has a very active and effective placement cell. Major companies like Goldman Sachs, Bain among many others come on campus for not just placements but also internships. Average and Median packages are between 8 and 10 lakh per annum, with highest packages going up to 25 lakhs. Many also go for postgraduate education, such as MBA after CAT, or to reputed colleges like the DSE for MA.
