ARSD Courses and Fees FAQs

Ques. Should I choose ARSD over other DU colleges if I want low fees, decent faculty and balanced college life with academics and activities?

Ans. ARSD is a good option for students who want low fees with proper DU exposure. Faculty are mostly supportive, and classes happen regularly most time. College life is not a very extreme side, but societies, sports and many events keep happening. It is good for students who want to study along with campus activity without too much academic pressure.

Ques. Can I manage part-time work or internships while studying at ARSD, because I am worried about schedule, attendance and academic pressure?

Ans. Many students manage an internship during the semester in ARSD. The class schedule is mostly structured, but not a very hectic type. Attendance rules are there, but it is manageable if students plan properly. College environment supports skill building and internship culture, especially for commerce and arts students, but time management is very important, otherwise, classes can be missed.

ARSD Admission FAQs

Ques. If I take a gap year after Class 12, can I still apply to ARSD admission in 2026, and will I face any issues during the counselling process?

Ans. Gap year students are allowed in ARSD admission if the CUET score is valid and the eligibility criteria is fullfilled. DU does not reject students just because of a gap year. During CSAS counselling document are checked properly, but the gap year affidavit is mostly accepted. Many students with a gap year also get a seat if the cutoff is clear and preference filling is done correctly.

Ques. If I get a lower preference college first, can I upgrade to ARSD later because I want better courses and college through CSAS rounds?

Ans. Upgradation option is available in DU CSAS counselling rounds. If a higher preference like ARSD is filled above and the cutoff is matched in the next round, then the seat can be upgraded. Old seats get cancelled automatically. Students need to be very careful while filling preference list. Cutoff changes every round, so patience and the correct order of choice matter a lot.

ARSD Cutoff FAQs

Ques. If I score slightly below last year's ARSD cutoff, do I still have a chance in later CSAS rounds or special rounds for science courses?

Ans. Yes chance in later rounds because the cutoff changes every round. Science and applied science courses usually drop more compared to commerce courses. Many seats remain vacant in later rounds,s so the cutoff becomes more flexible. Special rounds also help students who have borderline scores. Preference filling should be done correctly, and waiting till the last rounds is very important.

Ques. If I belong to the reserved category, how much cutoff relaxation can I expect for ARSD, and does it really help in top courses like B.Com or MA?

Ans. Reserved category students get cutoff relaxation as per the DU rule. This relaxation helps many students to get ARSD seats even in high demand course. Still, competition remains strong in B.Com and MA courses. The category cutoff also change round wise. A proper document and category certificate is compulsory, otherwise benefit is not given in counselling.

ARSD Placement FAQs

Ques. If I am not from a commerce background, will I still get placement help at ARSD, or do I need to depend fully on off-campus options?

Ans. Placement support in ARSD is available for all streams, not only for commerce students. Arts and science students also geta chance to sit in a placement drive, but the job role option may differ. Many students use the placement cell mainly for exposure, and later apply off-campus also. Skill building, internship and extra courses play a big role in the final placement result.

Ques. If I want a higher package from ARSD, what extra things should I focus on during college years apart from academics only?

Ans. Higher packages mostly depend on skill more than college name. Students who do an internship, certification, case competition and society work get a better chance. Placement cell invite company, but selection is student-based only. Communication skills, Excel, coding or analytics help a lot. Consistent effort from the first year improves placement outcomes.

ARSD Ranking FAQs

Ques. If I see ARSD ranking improving every year, should I trust the ranking more or focus on course and department quality before choosing a college?

Ans. Ranking give overall idea, but it should not be the only factor. ARSD ranking is good because of academics, placement and faculty combined. But students should also check the specific department strength. Some courses perform better than others. Seniors' feedback, syllabus and opportunities matter more than just the number in the ranking list.

Ques. If I choose ARSD mainly because of NIRF ranking, will it really help me in future jobs or higher studies admission?

Ans. NIRF ranking helps in creating a good impression, but it does not guarantee a job or admission. ARSD name adds value on a resume, but student performance matters more. Companies and universities see skills, marks and experience. Ranking helps in shortlisting sometimes, but the final selection depends on the student's effort and profile.

ARSD College Campus & Facilities FAQs

Ques. If I am staying far from campus, will daily travel to ARSD affect my classes, society work and overall college experience badly, or is it manageable?

Ans. Daily travel is common for many ARSD students because hostel seats are limited. Most students manage classes and society work by planning a timetable properly. Metro and bus connectivity is good, so travel becomes easier. Sometimes travel is tiring, but college life, events and friends make it manageable for most students.

Ques. If I am more interested in societies and extracurricular activities, will ARSD give me enough exposure, or should I look for other DU colleges?

Ans. ARSD has many active societies and clubs which organise events regularly. Students get chances to participate in cultural, academic and sports activities. Exposure depends on how active the student is. College supports society, but student effort matters more. With regular participation, ARSD give decent exposure and experience.

ARSD FAQs

Ques. Does ARSD allow students to change course or stream internally after the first year if interest change or their performance improves later?

Ans. ARSD normally do not allow easy internal course change after admission. DU rules for migration or course change are very strict. Some rare cases depend on vacancy and university permission. Students should choose courses carefully during CSAS preference filling. Depending only on later change is risky and mostly not possible in a practical situation.

Ques. Is attendance very strict at ARSD, and can low attendance create problems during the exam or internal assessment marking?

Ans. Attendance rules exist in ARSD like other DU colleges. Some departments are strict while others are a little more flexible. Low attendance can create issues during internal marks or exam form filling. Students usually manage by attending regular classes and informing the teacher in genuine cases. Completely ignoring attendance can cause unnecessary academic problems.

Ques. Are research projects, field work or practical exposure given importance at ARSD or is the study mostly classroom-based only?

Ans. ARSD focus on classroom teaching, but project work and practical exposure also exist. Science students do lab work regularly, arts students get assignments and field work sometimes. Many teachers encourage seminar and research-based learning. Exposure depends a lot on the department and the teacher's interest, not the same for every course.

Ques. Do ARSD students get opportunities for exchange programs, workshops or DU-level academic events outside the regular syllabus?

Ans. ARSD students get chances to attend DU seminars, workshops and academic fest. The college also host conference and guest lectures sometimes. Exchange programs are limited, but workshop exposure is decent. Students who actively follow notice and teacher guidance get more opportunities. A passive student may miss such chances easily without active involvement.

Ques. Is ARSD considered good for students preparing for competitive exams like UPSC, NET or MBA along with graduation studies?

Ans. ARSD is suitable for students preparing for competitive exams because the schedule is not extremely hectic. Many student preparefor UPSC, NET or CAT along with classes. The library environment and peer support help a lot. However, self-discipline is very important. College supports indirectly, but the main preparation depends fully on the student's effort.

How college works- Insights and reviews.

Student view on course curriculum

Very good. The subjects are interesting and useful in practical life as well. The course is very well demanded in today's generation. The 4th year includes research work which will give us lot of practical knowledge and experience. The improvements that can be done are shifting more to practical problems instead of just bookish knowledge.

Internship opportunity provided by the college and stipend

The companies that come for internships are EY, Wipro, Flipkart etc. The stipend we recieve is 10,000-15,000 monthly. The internships are offered to students from different courses. Bcom Hons and Bcom students are majorly placed into different roles.

Top company recruiting from the campus , average and highest package

The placements are really good. The students are eligible to do internships from the first year itself. But campus placement happens in the third year only. There is a placement cell in the college which is really active. The companies that visit the college are- EY, KPMG, Flipkart, Amazon, Deloitte etc. Above 200+ offers are made . The highest package is 21 LPA and the average packafe is 6-10 LPA. 70-80% students get placed. My plan is to either get a job or do MBA.

Total fees of the course

The fees for first year is 17,850. It might not be the same for the next 2 years but only minor changes will be there. Either the fees might increase a bit or decrease a little. There was no security deposit and any other admission fee, or any other additional charges for any facility. For category students the fees might be less. But there is not much difference. Fees is charged less for Economically weakeer section categories. And also admission to other category students are given at lower marks which makes it easy for them to get into the college. The college provides internship opportunities and placement opoortunities too. Big companies like EY, KPMG come for placements every year.

What does student says about campus

Very good infrastructure and campus. The campus is filled with greenery . The ground and sports facility is also great. Lot of inter college competitons are also held. There are a lot of societies working in the college which gives lot of experience and exposure. The library is very big. It has two floors. There are a ton of books related to all streams and fiction and of multiple authors. The classrooms are quite big with big benches and the classes are clean.

Student views on the faculty and course structure

The faculty is really good. The professors are very experienced and they teach very well. The science department of our college is also very active with research and stuff. The course structure has 7 semester in total. 3 core subjects in the first year and in addition to that we have Skill enhancement courses , Value added courses and General Elective according to the new education policy. The core subject paper is of 90 marks theory and internal marks are also added. Attendance is strict in the college. Attendance carry 6 marks. If the attendance is above 85% then only we'll get full marks.

Admission process and eligibility criteria

I applied for the Delhi university admission round. Where i had filled all the colleges of delhi university. My preference list had 42 colleges in total. I could not get into the north campus colleges like SRCC, HANSRAJ, HINDU because the cut off was really high for general category. I got confirmed admission form ARSD college only as I cleared the cut off. I did not get any rejection from any other college because i was not allotted in the first place. I had scored 743/800 whereas the cutoff for the top colleges were above 770 for general category. The admission process is , we have to give CUET entrance exam which is conducted by NTA then we will have the admission process in CSAS delhi university portal on the basis of our CUET marks. Majority students apply for Bcom Hons course because it is highly demanded. The cutoff generally goes really high for Bcom Hons in delhi university close to 770-780/800 in top colleges. You have high chances of securing a seat if you have 700+ .

Admission:

I chose ARSD was because it is part of Delhi University, which consistently performs well in NIRF rankings, and ARSD itself is considered one of the better south campus colleges. Compared to some other colleges I applied to, ARSD had a more balanced mix of academics, crowd, and the fees are affordable compared to many other colleges. I did get confirmed admission in ARSD and a few off-campus colleges, but ARSD felt like a better choice overall in terms of crowd, academics, and exposure. What went wrong with the other colleges was mostly the very high cut-offs, which are extremely competitive every year

Yes I would prefer North Campus of DU. I also applied for upgrade in CUET but it did not upgrade. Due to which i am stuck with the only option to select ARSD. So basically you need to appear CUET exams get the maximum marks you can in each paper so that you can get a chance to get into Delhi University.

So basically, DU has a preference list systems. I didn't choose the college, but I had it on a certain priority on my preference list and i was alloted this college based on my CUET scores. The only reason I couldn't get colleges placed higher on my preference list was the competition and the cut off marks. I had colleges like Stephen's, hindu and KMC placed higher above ARSD, but the competition got the better of me.

So I didn't really apply to any of the colleges I filled the preference sheet in the csas portal and I got selected in this college. I chose this college because it was very convenient for me, not that far and not that close from my house. No I didn't get any rejection from any other colleges. The admission process for my college is through CUET conducted by NTA, The eligibility for my course is atleast 45% in 10+2 and the exam accepted for my course is CUET only. CUET is the exam mostly preferred by the students, cutoffs for this exam for my course was 650 for general and around 550 for my category. Overall the admission experience is very simple and online.

I was made to prepare a list of colleges that provided the course that I opted for. So I made a list of all thr college in accordance to my convenience and what I wished to get into. My first priority was obviously a north campus college such as hindu college, kirori mal, hansraj and likewise. Then I proceeded to add the rest of the topmost colleges that came under south campus. I somehow got the chance to give it a try for JMC too as it also provides 50% of its seats to christian minorties but I wasn't really looking forward to get into an all girls college for some reason, so I left it then and there.
