KEA has clarified that KCET 2026 ranks were withheld only for candidates who did not upload Class 12 marks. A portal is now open for non-Karnataka board students. Spot rank will be released within five days, by June 10 2026.

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has issued a clarification on the missing Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) 2026 ranks on its official portal at cetonline.karnataka.gov.in. The authority has opened a dedicated link for affected candidates to upload their Class 12 qualifying examination marks. The clarification was shared by KEA on June 8, 2026.
As per the official communication from KEA, ranks have been withheld only for candidates whose Class 12 marks were not received by the authority. The KCET 2026 result was declared on June 6, 2026. Several candidates reported that their rank cards did not display a rank against their name.
Who Is Affected by the Missing KCET 2026 Ranks?
The issue affects candidates who studied Class 12 under boards outside the Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB). KEA does not receive marks data automatically from these external boards. Such candidates were instructed to upload their marks manually before the result.
The affected group includes candidates from the following boards:
- Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)
- Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE/ICSE)
- Other state boards outside Karnataka
- International boards such as IB and Cambridge
Candidates who studied under KSEAB are not affected. Their marks were transferred directly to KEA through an inter-board data sync.
How to Upload Class 12 Marks on the KEA Portal?
KEA has activated a dedicated upload link on its official portal. Affected candidates must complete this step to receive a valid KCET rank. The process is fully online and does not require a visit to the KEA office.
- Visit the official KEA portal at cetonline.karnataka.gov.in.
- Click on the link for uploading Class 12 marks.
- Log in using the KCET application number and password.
- Enter subject-wise marks from the Class 12 marksheet.
- Upload a clear scanned copy of the Class 12 marksheet.
- Verify the entries and submit the form.
KCET 2026 Spot Rank Release Timeline
KEA will verify the uploaded marks before publishing the revised rank. The authority has set a clear timeline for the spot rank list. The spot rank will be valid for counselling on par with the main rank.

Rank…
Why Were Some KCET 2026 Ranks Missing?
KCET ranks are calculated using a 50:50 weightage. Half the weight comes from the KCET score and half from the Class 12 marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The rank cannot be generated if the Class 12 marks are not on record.
KEA stated that several non-KSEAB candidates did not respond to earlier prompts. The authority sent multiple reminders through the application portal. The marks upload window was kept open before the result, but some candidates missed it.
A missing rank means no entry into KCET counselling. Candidates without a rank cannot lock seat choices. The five-day window is the final chance to secure a valid spot rank for 2026 admissions.
Action Plan for Candidates
- Check the KCET 2026 rank card on the KEA portal without delay.
- If the rank is missing, open the Class 12 marks upload link.
- Keep a scanned copy of the Class 12 marksheet ready in PDF format.
- Enter subject marks carefully and cross-check before submission.
- Save the acknowledgement receipt after a successful upload.
- Track the portal daily until the spot rank is published.
Watch the KEA portal for the KCET 2026 spot rank notice by June 10, 2026. Counselling registration and document verification dates will be announced soon after.
