IIT Kanpur Launches 4 New Online M.Tech Programs for Admission 2026

IIT Kanpur, one of India's premier technical institutions, has announced the launch of four new online M.Tech programs under the second cycle of its Online Postgraduate admissions. The newly introduced programs include M.Tech in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Construction Engineering & Project Management, Smart Grid, and Sustainable Energy Technologies.

These programs are offered through the Office of Outreach Activities and have been designed to address emerging skill requirements in rapidly evolving sectors. IIT Kanpur 4 New Online M.Tech Programs

The basic eligibility criteria require applicants to have secured a minimum CPI of 5.5 or 55 percent marks in their qualifying degree. The admission process consists of a two-stage evaluation including an online entrance test conducted by IIT Kanpur, followed by a department-level assessment through an online examination or interview.

GATE Score and Professional Experience Exemptions

Candidates possessing valid GATE 2026 scores that meet department-specific cut-offs may be exempted from the entrance test. Additionally, applicants with five or more years of relevant professional experience may also be considered for exemption, subject to departmental guidelines. Candidates nominated or sponsored by government departments, defence organizations, or recognized institutions may also be eligible for such exemptions.
