Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum of the history honours course,is vast and comprehensive, which provides you the comprehensive knowledge of the History, from ancient, mediaeval and modern Indian history,to history of japan, china, usa and modern west and europe. So I chose this course because of my interest in history and my future planning for upsc, this course prepares you well in history for upsc. The teaching method can be improved in terms of that it should more discussion based rather than old methods. There are final theory exams per semester or per six months,so exams are quite easy if you studied well in the semester, and timings are quite good.

Internships Opportunities

3

Kmc provides various internship opportunities,it provides you a option to either choose the skill enhancement course or internship programme, after first year . There are internship with niti aayog, with du admission branch and various other companies and institutions.

Fees and Financial Aid

The yearly fee structure for the course B.A. History.Honours ,is 12000 per year in first year for general category student, In second year the fee slightly increases and for general category student it is 12500 in second year, In third it increases to 13000 for general category students. For other category students, the fee is slightly low,ie around 100-500 less than the general category students. There are also some additional fee ,like the examination form fee of around 1200 rupees per semester,so total around 2500 examination form fee per year. And there are also various scholarships available for economically weaker students.

Campus Life

5

The campus life of Kmc is quite good and memorable, the crowd is good. Kmc has its annual fest called 'Renaissance',in which it invites various celebratirities and singers. Renaissance is generally organised in the month of February. Kmc student union also organises freshers party each year for new students, which is also quite memorable. The library of kmc is one of the best ,and has vast range of books and a knowledge librarian fir assistance. Many classrooms has the facilities of projector and are digital classrooms . Kmc has a big and beautiful sports complex, including football ground, cricket ground, a newly renovated basketball court, a boxing ring ,and volleyball court, badminton court and nets for cricket practice.

Admission

I chose Kmc because of its faculty of history and it's alumnis. The faculty of history is one of the best in du, that's why I chose KMC. I also applied for colleges like Hindu College, and also at B.H.U ,but I got confirmed admission in Hindu College in Sanskrit honours course and I wanted to pursue history so I chose KMC, and I also got admission in B.H.U history, but the faculty of du and particularly KMC history is better ,so I chose KMC. KMC is quite well than hindu College and B.H.U in terms of its alumini and crowd . KMC is also better in sports and ncc than other colleges. The admission process to get admission in KMC ,Is through the Cuet exam.

Faculty

4

The faculty to students ratio is proportionately good , there are 5 teachers for per section of 35 students. The faculty to student relationship is very good , all the faculty members are very supportive and friendly.one can approach any faculty member at college timings for any kind of discussion. The faculty of history is by far best faculty of the college. Sanjay verma sir is my favourite, he teaches history of modern west in 2nd year and history of modern India in 3rd year. His understanding of the topic is unmatchable and his way to convey his ideas with quite a mix of humour is best, and the presentations of Sanjay verma sir are unique experience in itself . Sahana bhattacharya mam, she is the gem of the professor, she teaches history of china in second year and dse gender in Indian history in 3rd year, she has profound knowledge of her field of study , specially on gender history. Dushyant kumar shah sir, he is like the friend of students, he is very friendly and supportive,he teaches Social formations in 1st year. Vandana mam , she makes the history of modern europe interesting with her stories. Amit suman sir, he is also a royal society fellow, and very knowledgeable and supportive. There are mainly ,internal assessment exams ,which includes assignments and class tests, then there is Continuous assessment, which is based on regular performance and participation of the students in class ,and then there is the final theory exam ,which is subjective exam.

Night Life

5

The nightlife of a kmc student is very memorable one, one can hangout in vibrant kamla nagar market with friends in night, the vaishnav chaat bhandar and the gopal foods are the best food points in kamla nagar. Students often hangout with friends in these markets after the tiring classes. Sudama tea stall ,near the hostel gate of KMC is perfect chai and gossip point for students. The kamla Nehru ridge, the vijaynagar market are the hotspot of the night life of students.

Course Curriculum Overview:

In this era of corrosive politics which believes in the wake of wear and tear, I personally believe the utility of my subject is quite exemplary. The curriculum is not mine or any of my professor's decision. It changes according to the shifts in power. The major focus of history honours' curriculum is just India, henceforth making it a viable option for people preparing for competitive exams, but somewhere, all of us studying the course know that the lack of interdisciplinarity and just focusing on its academic niche ingroups is necessary to be looked upon. Exams happen on a biannual basis calling these phenomenon as the end of one semester, which happens twice in each academic year.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My course is a very different and unheard course of our country. Philosophy is not so prevalent in India as of now . On the contrary it is as popular in West as medical in India. So it is quite difficult when it comes to an understanding of the subject through indian lens. The curriculum includes western philosophy, Logic, Fundamentals of Philosophy, Social and Political Philosophy, etc., which covers almost all disciplines like political science, law, history, sociology, reasoning, etc. The books we are provided as study material are original writings of philosophers and Oxford translations, which makes it even harder to cop up with. The exam level is also quite difficult because you can never study a week before and get 9 Cgpa.
