Course Curriculum Overview

4

There have been multiple complaints against the course structure of DU. As it remains outdated and refuses to incorporate newer elements of the literature of the present.

Internships Opportunities

5

So I completed two internships during my time at Stephen's - One was with Network18 CNN-IBN as a desk writer. This was an amazing oppirtunity for the wannabe journalist in me to understand the ropes of the world of journalism. It was an amazing experience enabled to better gauge my future cours of action as a writer. The second internship was with NSDC. An amazing team with even more amazing job profile.

Placement Experience

5

Campus placements are available for all semesters but the offers are more the students in third year. The offers came form many reputed companies like Deloitte, EY, NSDC and more. The highest packages offered were 24 LPA. Almost 75 to 80 percent students got the campus placement. I did not sit for the placement as I was beginning my preparation for UPSC.

Fees and Financial Aid

The entire fees for the course was 18,000 per semester. Based on the requirment of lab and other facilities for the Science and other course there were some additionals for the Science based courses. There were many scholarshi[ps and financial aids available, based on your community and financial stance.

Campus Life

5

Th annual college fest is called Harmony and it is a three day long festival of social event, cultural events, food and much more. The library has a large collection of books,s ome antique and in the library for over a century. Further the books are for a wide range of subjects and disciplines and in multiple languages. As for the facilities provided, all classrooms hav an AC, smart boards, projectors and more.

Admission

So I had applied to all colleges in DU, St Xavier's College in Bombay and Ambedkar University Delhi. With some whip of luck I got into JMC, Miranda, Xavier's, AUD and Stephen's. Personally I never imagined I would be getting into Stephen's. The admission process in Stephens during my time had three stages. First one is the cutoff. For my partciular subject the cutoff was 97.8. Then they issue a list of candidates eligible for the interview based on the cutoff. The second stage is the interview where a panel of four or five senior members of the college will rack your brains about different spheres of the subject you have chosen. I had interviews for two subjects History and English. Since I got in English I did not attend the History interview. The final part is the documentation and paying the fees. At this stage it is more of formality except in rare cases where there is an issue with the application or the documentation part.

Faculty

5

There were 9 faculties for our batch throughout the three years and we were 30 in a class. So there was a good 1:3 ratio between the faculty and the students. This is one of the foremaost reasons why the students graduated from this particular course however disinterested in the subject, cannot shy away from atleast a good understanding of the basics and in depth idea about the subject if interested. In particular I liked Themeem sir, Ann Susan Ma'am, Jaideep Sir, Ashley Sir, Hannah Ma'am, and Anju Ma'am. As for not liking I don't think there was anybody like that. The exams were according to the system of the University of Delhi, i.e. there were two exams in one semester - Mid-Semster Exam and End-Semester Exam.

Night Life

5

The entire campus is safe for nights and most of the vents, movie screenings and rehearsals, society meetups, etc happen at the night. So the college is never silent except in the wee morning hours. The hostel timings are till 10 pm but obviously there are some shortcuts. The gazebo, football ground, any of the lawns are a good place to be at night.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because i have a keen interest in history . my curriculum prepare me for my future , it develop a thinking way in that way so that i can think in all the ways and direction. it teaches how small impact or method or matter impacted whole future. so your small decisions also played role in what will be your future be. i think there is a great need to improve in teaching method. mainly history is not only limited upto dates and king stories . it is alot from this . it teaches many things which sharp a individual personality. Exam happened twice times in a year and timing for core subject is 3 hours and for value and skill addition subject it is 1/2 hours depending upon subject

Course Curriculum Overview:

Economics is one such course which I feel complements every other discipline and since it talks about human behaviour, so it also teaches us a lot about the real world. The timing of exams can be changed by delaying exams by some time so that we get enough time for preparation. Also, the vacations are very less due to which people from far away cannot go to their homes.

placement and internship fares are regularly conducted on campus where various companies which are mostly start-ups visit to recruit students for internships and entry level roles. Students become eligible for internships from the first year itself. placement opportunities are generally available after the completion of the full degree and only final year. Students are eligible to apply for full-time rules. last during our last internship and placement fair over 20 companies visited and recruited almost 150 candidates. There are no separate records distinguishing internship from placement. The highest package reported for economics honours is around 12 lakhs per annum and the average package is approximately five lakhs per annum. As per my future plans,I intend to pursue a masters degree after completing my undergraduate course.

For USME, FMCG and Financial companies are the ones which are put in place. The only reason is that those are the companies where we can add value and placements of both courses of USME happens together and combined if I say around 75% students are placed. My plan though is to join GIPE after my graduation ends this year.

Our college has a very active and effective placement cell. Major companies like Goldman Sachs, Bain among many others come on campus for not just placements but also internships. Average and Median packages are between 8 and 10 lakh per annum, with highest packages going up to 25 lakhs. Many also go for postgraduate education, such as MBA after CAT, or to reputed colleges like the DSE for MA.
