How good is KJ Somaiya for MBA in Finance and International Business?

RT
Rajat Tokas Posted On : January 6th, 2023
MBA from K.J. Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research (SIMSR)

To begin with, there is no such thing as a "flagship" in college, so you may not have heard anything about going to KJ Somaiya for marketing or that it is best for HR or Finance. All programs, specialized or super-specialized, are treated equally, and top-tier faculty are available for all courses.

There is almost nothing significant on which any of the programs can be graded. It all comes down to personal preference. If you want to work in International Business (finance or marketing), go for it; if you want to learn everything there is to know about finance, financial services are the way to go. In any case, you won't be short on opportunities.

For the reasons listed below, you ought to select IIM Indore:

  • Other institutions might be excellent ones, but IIMs are a community. The tag is beneficial.
  • The peer network you establish is the main thing you take away from a business school. You will have the chance to interact with a tremendously large group of people.

Which MBA is better for operations: XIMB or NMIMS?

RD
Rittim Das Posted On : March 13th, 2023
Studied at Symbiosis Centre for Management and Human Resource Development (2017)

If I was in your place, I would have gone for NMIMS. Operation profiles are usually offered in these 3 industries.

  • FMCG
  • E-commerce
  • Consulting

Comparing these industries, you will find NMIMS as the best option. There are many big companies from these industries that visit NMIMS like

  1. FMCG: ITC , Dabur, HUL, Marico, Asian Paints, Pidilite, Kelloggs, Loreal, HCCB, Britannia, Perfetti.
  2. Most of these companies do not visit XIMB and even if they do the roles offered are average.
  3. E-Commerce: Flipkart, Amazon, Shopclues, Girnarsoft(Car Dekho), Bluestone. None of these visited XIMB.
  4. Finance: Goldman Sachs, Nomura, JP Morgan, ICICI Bank
  5. IT: Microsoft, Google, SAP, Cisco, National Instruments
  6. Conglomerates: GE, Mahindra, etc.

All in all, the top recruiters combined with locational advantage, industry relations, and broad career prospects make NMIMS the better option of the two.

What are the chances of getting a job in Dubai post an MBA from SPJIMR Mumbai? What is the kind of profiles students from SPJIMR get (in Dubai)?

SJ
Sakshi Jha Posted On : March 13th, 2023
MBA Marketing, S. P. Jain Institute of Management and Research (2018)

Your skill set is the most important factor that determines your employability in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. This skill set is something that you can develop over time with experience.

Keep in mind that there are very few opportunities for freshers from SPJIMR post an MBA, although IIM-K is a separate case. If you are a Keralite or a Malayali, the UAE may be another option to consider.

Recruiters in the GCC region will always prefer someone who knows Arabic, French, or other foreign languages. This is something that you can work on and improve over time.

After a few years of solid work experience, your chances of getting a job in the GCC region are higher. However, keep in mind that recruiters have plenty of options to choose from when it comes to hiring, especially for jobs that require cheap labor from Asian countries.

In the Middle East, your experience matters a lot, as well as your ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. You need to be able to adapt quickly and work efficiently to succeed.

It's important to note that Western nationalities also have an edge in the Gulf job market. If a company has the option to choose between a Marketing person with similar skill sets, an average-looking Indian guy, and a Western-style icon with a model-like personality, they will most likely choose the latter. This is because most jobs in the Gulf require excellent communication skills, a little bit of relevant experience, and a Driving License.
