IIT Roorkee has released the copy of the candidate's JEE Advanced 2026 responses of both Paper 1 and Paper 2 on 21 May 2026 at 5:00 PM on the official website - jeeadv.ac.in/index.html.

Around 1.9 lakh students who appeared for the exam will be able to download their JEE Advanced response sheet by using their Application Number and Password.

  • The Provisional Answer keys will be available on Monday, May 25, 2026, at 10:00 AM.
  • Along with that, IIT Roorkee will also open an objection window from 25 May 10:00 AM, and the candidates can object to their answer key till 26 May at 5:00 PM.
  • Candidates will be able to estimate their scores with the help of the provisional answer key and the response sheet before the results are out.
  • And after reviewing all the objections, the Final Answer key, along with the results, will be released on Monday, June 01, 2026, at 10:00 AM

The online registration for JEE Advanced Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) 2026 will start from 1st June 2026 at 10:00 AM (Monday) till 2nd June 2026 (5:00 PM).

What is JEE Advanced?

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced is a national-level entrance examination conducted for students seeking admission to IITs in India.

  • The exam will be conducted in two mandatory papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2 on the same day in 2 shifts.
  • Both papers will be conducted in CBT mode, consisting of 17 questions in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics respectively.
  • After qualifying for this exam, admission to undergraduate programs in engineering and science at Top IITs, and also other institutes like IISc, IIPE, IIST, RGIPT, etc.

Last year, among 2,50,000 JEE Main qualified candidates, only approx. 75% registered for the exam, and 54,378 candidates qualified for admission, among whom only 18,188 actual allotted seats were available at 23 IITs through JoSAA.

  • The Joint Implementation Committee (JIC) sets a minimum qualifying mark to ensure they have roughly three candidates per seat.
  • This happens because many top rankers may drop out of counselling to join other top non-IITs (like IISc, IIST, and IISERs) or top NITs or less preferred IITs based on their preference and availability.

Ques. What is the criterion to decide which IIT will conduct the JEE Advanced exam?

Ans. As per the criteria, this year IIT Roorkee will be conducting the JEE Advanced 2026.

  • There is a rotational pattern of IITs that follows a 7-year cycle, with all seven zonal IITs taking turns in each year to organize the JEE Advanced exam.

Ques. What if I improved my board (12th) marks this year? Which marksheet do I upload?

Ans. For the JEE Advanced 2026 registration, there are some important documents required:

  • Primary Document: You must upload your 2025 improvement exam marksheet during the JEE Advanced 2026 registration.
  • Supporting Documents: Along with the Class 12 marksheet 2025, you should upload your 2024 original Class 12 Marksheet.
  • Calculation of Best Marks: For the subjects where you have appeared for improvement, the best marks will be considered either from the 2024 or 2025 exams.
  • For JEE Main 2026 and JoSAA Counselling, you will need to upload both your 2024 and 2025 marksheets to check that you meet the 75% aggregate marks requirement or are in the top 20 percentile of your board.

Ques. If I didn’t renew/get an EWS certificate during JEE Main, can I still apply under EWS during Advanced registration?

Ans. Yes, you can apply under the GEN-EWS Category while applying for JEE Advanced 2026.

  • GEN-EWS Certificate Requirement: You must upload a valid GEN-EWS certificate issued on or after April 1, 2025, while applying for the JEE Advanced 2025 registration process.

Ques. What about the 75% board marks vs Top 20 Percentile?

Ans. For admission through JEE Advanced in an IIT, you must meet either one of these criteria:

  • 75% Board Marks: You must secure at least 75% aggregate marks in your Class 12 (or equivalent) board exam for General/EWS/OBC and 65% for SC/ST candidates.
