Students also ask

Ques. I want to know the real CUET marks needed for BA Hons Journalism at IHE?

Ans. For BA Hons Journalism cutoff is very high in this college. The general category needs around 650 to 690 marks in the CUET exam. The Institute of Home Economics is competitive, so lower marks may not get a seat. The cutoff changes every year, so better to target above 700 for safe side admission.

Ques. I'm confused if a low CUET score can still get admission in IHE courses?

Ans. Yes possible, but depend on the course choice. Some courses, like BSc pass or less demand course, have a lower cutoff of around 160 to 500 marks. But top courses need a higher score. also category and rounds matter a lot. Better fill many preferences in CSAS for a better chance of seat allotment.

Institute of Home Economics Admission 2026 Process – (UG & PG)

Institute of Home Economics offers admission to UG and PG courses through CUET scores, and candidates must apply via the Delhi University CSAS portal. Admission is fully entrance-based and follows DU guidelines.

Here is the step wise Institute of Home Economics Admission Process

Step 1: Appear for CUET

  • Candidates have to appear for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) conducted by National Testing Agency.
  • CUET (UG) is for undergraduate courses and CUET (PG) is for postgraduate courses.
  • Admission is mainly based on CUET score only.

Step 2: Register on CSAS Portal

  • After CUET result comes, candidates need to register on CSAS portal of Delhi University.
  • CUET details like name, photo and signature get auto filled.
  • Then you have to fill academic details, upload documents and pay application fee.

Step 3: Fill Programme & College Preferences

  • Candidates have to select programme and college combinations.
  • Try to fill more preferences.
  • Order is very important so fill carefully.
  • Once submitted, you cant change it later.

Step 4: Seat Allocation

  • Seats are given based on CUET score, category and seat availability.
  • You will get highest possible preference according to your marks.

Step 5: Accept the Allotted Seat

  • You must accept the seat within given time.
  • If you dont accept, it will be treated as rejection.
  • After that you cant go in next rounds.

Step 6: Document Verification by College

  • College will check your documents and eligibility.
  • They can approve or reject your admission.

Step 7: Pay Admission Fee

  • After approval, you have to pay the admission fee.
  • This step confirms your admission.
  • If you dont pay, your seat will be cancelled.

Step 8: Upgrade / Freeze Option

  • Upgrade means you can try for better preference in next rounds.
  • Freeze means you keep your current seat and stop further process.

Step 9: Mid-Entry (Optional)

  • If someone missed earlier, they can apply through mid-entry.
  • Extra fee of around INR 1000 is required.
  • But chances are less because priority is lower.

Step 10: Final Admission

  • Admission is final only after seat acceptance, document verification and fee payment.

Students also ask

Ques. I want to know can change my preference after CSAS submission or not in DU admission?

Ans. No once the preference list is locked, then you can't change it. This is a very important step, so fill it carefully. many student make mistakes here. CSAS allow change only before final submission. After that system does not allow editing. So always check the order twice before submitting because seat allotment fully depends on this preference list.

Ques. I'm confused if a gap year affects admission in Institute of Home Economics or DU?

Ans. A gap year is not a problem for DU admission. many student think it issue, but not true. You just need to give CUET exam and follow the CSAS process. The University of Delhi clearly allow gap year students without restriction. Only eligibility and CUET score matter for admission, not how many years' gap taken.

Courses First Round (Closing marks) Last Round (Closing marks)
M.Sc Food Nutrition 141 141
M.Sc Fabric and Apparel Designing 102 90

Students also ask

Ques. I want to know why the cutoff drops in later rounds in Institute of Home Economics?

Ans. Cutoff drops because many student not accept the seat or move to a better college. When seats become empty, then the next round cutoff goes lower. This is normal in the Delhi University admission process. also category and demand affect it. so student with lower marks still get a chance in later rounds sometimes.

Ques. I'm confused about what safe CUET score should target for IHE top courses admission?

Ans. For top courses in Delhi University, like BA Hons or a good college, students should target above 700 marks in CUET. This is a safe range because the competition is very high. many expert say a 700+ score give better chance in a good college and course, but the exact cutoff always changes every year.

My choice for B.Sc. Hons Food Technology in this college was not due to limited options but instead of that I knew what career choices I wanted to make for the life that I manifest. I was getting admission in various other courses of different colleges but still I chose what was right for my career. The admission process is very simple, first clear your 12th board exams, then there is the CUET examinations , clear it with much decent marks and then there is the Csas counselling process. The cutoff is generally not high but the fewer courses makes it difficult to make it through.

It was not like that I wasn't getting admission in other colleges except this one but the chice that I made was majorly due to the career planning that I had done in the early stages. I chose this college because of the advanced facilities it provide and also it is easier to commute for me to the college and back to my home and vice versa. The admission process involves clearing the 12th boards, then the CUET with decent marks, the cutoff is not much high for this college, but due to fewer courses, the competition feels tougher.
