LSR - sociology Honours review

Course Content - the course of sociology is really well made and structured. However due to NEP, there have been reductions in the content.
Affordability - As compared to other colleges - private universities the fee for each year is pretty decent- 30000 for an year is practically 2500 per month
Faculty - The faculty for my course is really nice and good. They have good hold of topics, enriching views and really good style of teaching

Dislikes

No HOSTEL - yes, lsr now doesnt offer hostel facility to students, it is said that it is under rennovation but no clear signs are there of any rennovation. This makes it hard for people from far off places or from lower economic backgrouunds to study
Overachieving environment - Students here are really good at what they do and are involved in multiple fields and this does lead to insecurity or imposter syndrome in one's mind.
Safety concerns outside college - Being an all girls college - students do have to go through some horrible experiences while commuting or near the college gates - though the instituition does try its best to create safe environment.

I did apply to Chandigarh University, and I did get into it however an honours in PU is for 4 years while at DU its for 3/4 years both- this was a major decisive point. also DU does hold more respect and honour in terms of a university and specially LSR does give you that exposure, growth and confidence. The procedure is - You apply for CUET after boards, the exams are separate for each subject as in - english, economics etc and are usually MCQ's. For our course, in lsr 2024 the cutoff score - out of total 800 marks was 748. The entire admission process is online and smooth- with multiple information sessions by the university experts

Unveiling LSR: A review of excellence in education for women

I really liked the fact that lsr gives you freedom to express your voice without any judgements. It is an emblem of women empowerment. It makes you strong and bold to survive in outside world, to fight back against the patriarchy.
It's has the one of the best faculties in India, very well learned professors with a strong academic background.
It has the best placement in whole du , they give opportunities to humanities courses students too , like political science, history graduates also get placed with decent packages

Dislikes

The infrastructure can get better, they should have air-conditioned rooms and cafeteria can get better.
It was in a very isolated place due to which we were not able to interact well with other colleges . And I also observed lsr was very much restrictive in terms of collaborations like there was only few events where other colleges were invited.
It was an all girls college. Though it has its own benefits but a big disadvantage also since I found some girls to be very scared and shy of boys interaction. Also some girls were way too hostile about boys.

Admission:

I applied to Delhi University, banaras hindu university and vanasthali vidyapeeth but my first preference was du only that too the top colleges like lsr , hindu college, miranda house, kmc,ramjas. I wasn't rejected anywhere . I had decent marks so I cleared the cut offs of all the colleges (that year admission was based on 12th percentage) .Among these I chose lsr becz of its first ranking in political science course. Lsr is one of the best colleges for humanities and commerce courses and for political science it is number one. And it's brand value , high placements also made me choose it. Now since the introduction of new education policy, admission is completely based on common University entrance test(CUET) . Cutoffs are high for lsr . It's usually more than 700 for all the courses. The admission process is all smooth and entirely online.

As LSR is an all girls college, the environment here is very inclusive, all the seniors are very helpful towards the freshers
The infrastructure is truly one of a kind , that you would not find in any other south campus college because of the fact that how much of a prestigious college it is
The faculty and academics if I talk about, is great . All the professors are very helpful and kind , they also teach us so well.

Dislikes

There aren't many things that I disliked , just the fact that attendence vise LSR is somewhat strict so make sure you maintain your attendance throughout every sem , especially sem 1.

Admission:

Apart from lady shri ram College for Women in my preference list , there were other colleges as well like miranda house , the hindu college etc . But as LSR was my first and top most preference, I got it in the first round and I am really happy for that.

LSR means women empowerment as this is what we are taught here.
We have societies and one such was Ruhi where acid attack survivers were supported.
We got innumerable opportunities to raise our voices at various public platforms.

Dislikes

LSR off late has become a political dog as that is what the thing of discussion which is left at the campus.

CUET UG and AIR 300 is max for general students to get admission in LSR. For economics and b.com top rankers and then for our course, general category studnets under 300 AIR are welcomed. For reserved category and all rank upto 1200 or so was accepted during my time.

The rich and vibrant culture you get at LSR is very rare to find anywhere else. The aura inside those red walls is something that hits different.
LSR is a sacred place where you can learn, build and thrive all together. It provides a vast exposure to the students and the crowd is also great.
The independence of expression and thought you get here is unmatchable. you can freely voice your opinions have discussions on anything

There is nothing as such yo dislike about LSR but food quality of canteen can be upgraded.

This college was at the top in my preference list and I got it in the first round itself that's why I didn't have any chance to look at other options. The admission process is simple you simply need to appear for the CUET examination which is held once in a year. You can appear after your 12th. Students from all the stream can opt for journalism as it is multi-disciplinary. The exams are hheld for over a week in different slots. Once the result is out you need to apply on DU's portal making a list of all the college and courses that you are targeting in the order of your preference. After that wait for the results to be announced. There are 3 rounds usually. The cutoffs are high for all the courses in LSR you need to score 98+ percentile belonging to general category while the cutoff for reserved category is a little low.

LSR is way above the rest!!

Likes

We have facilities for Physically challenged people and blinds as well.
Over 60+ societies and no one gives entry with clearing GD & PI.
Daily 8-9 hours at college passes like blink of an eye as our college is that amazing.

Dislikes

Too much hectic as societies demands more and daily 2-3 hours too aren't enough sometimes.

Admission:

I applied for CUET and LSR was always the choice which would have topped my list. St, Stephens was next in the list and then Gargi, JMC and others. However with an AIR of 68, it was inevitable that I choose LSR and I did the same.

LSR means world of Good!!

Likes

LSR gardens as we do have a plant garden which has some special plants.
The new built 700 seater auditorium is an absolute gem.
Classrooms have long windows that supports good ventilation.

Dislikes

Most students feel like want to go into politics as most talks among students are about politics.

Admission:

LSR definitely as why would a girl even think of applying elsewhere after topping her state. All state toppers are here and that's the beauty of LSR. However topping charts in 12th is not enough as students also have to be top in CUET to get admission at LSR.

LSR gives larger than life feeling!!

LSR is comparatively bigger than rest of the girls college of DU and that gives us more edge.
Every political turnaround is scrutinized at our campus and therefore we are updated with all the political happenings in the world.
Our course is a complete enhancement as we have various activities included in our studies.

Dislikes

Groupism is a big worry as it's an all girls college and therefore this issue is there.

Admission in BA in LSR be it any specialization need a score of 786+ minimum. Below that general category students atleast don't stand any chance. I qualified CUET like every other individual as that's the only way of acquiring admissions in LSR.

LSR: My Dream College

Likes

The culture of collaboration and all round development grooms the student during their time here at LSR. It is safe to say that you become the best version of yourself after becoming an Elsa.
The campus is a true beauty, from the pond to the large lawns, from the campus dogs to the squirrels livening up the campus. LSR makes each day beautiful.
Academically, LSR ranks among the Top colleges in India, all for the right reasons.

Dislikes

Buildings have no AC and that is an Infrastructural drawback.

LSR accepts admissions based on the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) Scores. LSR Statistics was on the top of my Preference List because of the college's brand name and also the course's growing importance in the world of AI and tech. It seemes best to fit my personality and I trust LSR to groom me into the best version of myself. Additionally, LSR is in South Delhi's most posche area which makes it safer and closer to my house. Away from the noise of North Campus but still gives you the experience of the BEST COLLEGE LIFE. I chose LSR and it was the best choice ever.

the college environment is very welcoming and provides you with great exposure both in the academics aswell as other co-curricular activities.
the college has multiple societies and clubs which covers multiplicity of things. there are teams within the departments which helps students
the teaching faculty is extremely experienced and well-read. as one of the leading colleges of the country, the rigrous courses

Dislikes

the management of within the departments could be better because it leads to issues at multiple times
as a history student there are rarely any practical workshops and study trips which one would expect from a course like history, especially hons. degree.
i've heard from my peers that being in an all girls institute, sometimes make excluded from the whole university environment

Admission:

My 1st preference was HISTORY honours. In LSR and I was able to get into my desired course and college due to my good cuet marks, which were 788/800 inthe general category. i only applied to du and lsr was my 1st preference from the starting for a few reasons- I have always heard great reviews about the college form some school seniors and teachers aswell as online, and my father initially introduce my to lsr back in middle school and I personally liked its environment compared to other du colleges and it was a girls college which for me was more comfortable as I have been in a girls school all my school life. as I mentioned I applied only for DU especially lsr and I got admitted to it, making it my top choice and the reason why I have explained in detail above. I didn't apply to other colleges, therefore no rejections. so for admission in lsr one needs to give the CUET entrance exam after they clear their 12th exams. the current criteria for ba hons history in du is 3 papers one given in their boards + 1 language exam. after the exam one needs to fill in their preference list on the csas portal and rank all the courses they want to be eligible for from the courses which is provided to the student on there portal.then based on you marks you get allotted one of the preferences and you can challenge for updates in the further lists.
