Ans. UPES Dehradun does not have a good enough reputation as it does not appear anywhere in the national rankings. On the other hand, Nirma University ranks among the top institutes. It is often in the top 50 best colleges in the country. It is one of the best in Gujarat and is also on equal footing with most of the NITs. If you want to pursue CSE at Nirma University, the placements offers will be lucrative. The packages can go as high as INR 18 LPA. There are also tons of activities organized by the university which take place every now and then. You can participate in those for honing your skills. A friend of mine used to be a student of Nirma University and he came across a few students of UPES Dehradun while he was doing an internship. From what he gathered, he thinks the institute is not up to the mark and leaves a lot to be desired. UPES Dehradun focuses more on technological knowledge. You can opt for Nirma University for B.Tech without any second thought. The university offers great industrial exposure for the course.Read more

Ans. One of my cousins is a recent graduate from Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) and mentions that the department of Civil engineering is among the oldest departments of all. Here are some factors that you should know about it. Alongside the newer faculty members, who are both professional and easy-going, the institute also has old faculty members who are well experienced as well. However, at times, they can be quite strict too. The present HOD of civil engineering is moreover admirable as well. My cousin states the same because he sat for one of his classes. He mentions that the HOD is rather supportive and dynamic. He is always willing to be of help if any student needs it for their further studies. Professors of this department keep maintaining their decorum by all means. But, the placement stats of civil engineering has unfortunately not been great in most of the institutes nonetheless. Institutes MIT Manipal UPES Dehradun Highest CTC INR. 12 LPA INR. 7 LPA Lowest CTC INR. 4 LPA INR. 1.5 LPA Top Recruiting Companies IBM, Deloitte, Accenture and Byju's L&T, Kalpataru and Texmaco Since there is not enough information about UPES Dehradun, you can always check the highlights, curriculum, faculty, and other factors on their main homepage. Her experience at the institute was quite good. The institute has a great track record in each of its departments. You can read about its legacy on Wikipedia. Faculty: The faculty at the institute is great according to the students. Infrastructure: It offers well-equipped modern labs. In association with the Kerala Starting Mission CUSAT started a Centre for Innovation, Technology Transfer, and Industrial Collaboration (CITTIC).  CSE Department: The CSE department of CUSAT is recognized worldwide. This means you can pursue higher education after the compilation of the course, easily.  CSE department is also one of the departments that have NBA accreditation.  Funding:  You will get enough funding for your project at the institute. Ans. BTech Safety and Fire Engineering at CUSAT is a lucrative branch with great career opportunities. Almost 90% of students graduate with a placement offer. But the career outcome of the institute is limited since it is not a mainstream branch. You may face problems in the future if you want to go for competitive examinations like GATE. Go for this branch, only if you are sure that you want a career in this field. Since not many institutes offer this engineering degree, the competition is less. It is easy to secure a good placement opportunity.  Course Highlights: This course is great for people who want to make their career in Process Safety Engineering or Technical Safety Engineering.  It is not true that students of this branch get positions like Safety Officer or Fire Officer after completing the degree. Students of this course get a little better technical jobs.  There are many cool small companies in the vicinity of Chennai, Pune, Bangalore, or NCR. These companies offer good technical jobs. Although the initial salary package may be less, you will have the opportunity to improve your career.  You can also opt for off-campus placements and apply to companies directly. Ans. Both the institutes are government institutes and provide best in class education when it comes to Fire and safety engineering. They offer good placement opportunities in government and private organizations with good packages. However, NFSC Nagpur might be the choice to go due to the following reasons. CUSAT: Let’s discuss CUSAT first.  The institute offers both fire and safety which includes more topics related to engineering courses which are very useful from a placements perspective.  CUSAT is both AICTE and NBA accredited so has a good curriculum. One of the downsides is that in CUSAT fire drills do not take place regularly which is required by some companies during the placement process. Even though it is a very famous college in South India and has a good placement record, the infrastructure is a bit old compared to NFSC Nagpur. The competition here for the Fire and Safety course is more and you need to have a good rank in the CUSATCAT. NFSC Nagpur: NFSC Nagpur has a course curriculum that is in line with the world’s top institutes with more focus given to physical standards and course syllabus. The institute focuses more on the fire drill process and physical fitness along with the academic part. It is a central government institute and provides the best placements for its students. The institute's alumni hold top positions in top fire organizations in India. The value of fire engineering here matches the IIT tag when it comes to fire engineering. It is very much necessary to have proper time management to align yourself with daily routines. All the hard work you put in will be reaped as many top companies including PSU’s come for recruitment here. BE in Fire course is a newly added one in this institute and competition is a bit less. The first few batches have passed with flying colors and have good placement records with the average package being around 10 LPA. Considering all the facts above it is safe to say that NFSC Nagpur is the best option of the two. It is a central Govt. college under the Ministry of Home Affairs and has a rich alumni network in major public and private organizations.Read more

Most of the recruiting companies perticiating in the placement drive are from IT sector.  As a student of the IT branch, you will be eligible to sit for almost all the visiting IT companies provided you have the required CGPA. According to one of my cousin’s personal experiences, Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding is a very innovative course that a student can pursue, therefore get a chance to explore many different things. If you are interested in pursuing DoST CUSAT, then there are ample opportunities that you can get. Not only in terms of education but the college provides an excellent placement to all the students. But at the same time, you should be aware enough to grab the opportunities and work very hard to achieve the targeted career opportunities. There is a group of well-qualified faculty members who prepare you for all your future endeavors so that you can make the best out of yourself. Not only academics but they give you hands-on experience to the particular that is very helpful for you during your placement interviews. The placements are quite decent in which many prestigious companies across the country as well as from many other countries like Saudi Arabia, Iran, and various other countries participate. But due to the oil crisis, the placements were a little dull during the past one to two years. If we look at the overall placements they are good.
