Cultural Club activities are conducted very well along with sports which is conducted every year firstly it has many options to participate in different sports activities.
Academics is also given a lot of focus here since it is the main goal to focus here. 2 main exams being conducted every semester and along with that quizzes , assignments and vivas to strengthen the student's performance skills
Faculty's are well educated and has a deeper knowledge in their specific domains. They have a great connections outside which helps the students to engage with other members for internship opportunities.

Dislikes

The college should focus more on improving the sports facilities for students and also focus more on improving the quality of practical knowledge as well instead of just focusing on the theoritical portions

Admission:

I cleared JEE MAINS and on the basis of my rank, I applied for many colleges. I was specifically looking for the top two engineering branches that is Computer Science and Electronics and Communication Engineering and have applied for many but could not get into it due to higher rank category. Earlier I got Civil Engineering in NIT SILCHAR then I got Electronics and Communication Engineering at IIIT KOTTAYAM. I preferred IIIT KOTTAYAM over NIT SILCHAR because of the branch since Electronics and Communication Engineering is considered the second best branch after Computer Science Engineering. Yes, I got rejection from other colleges because the eligibility criteria for those colleges were securing high rank but my rank was not up to the mark. To get into such colleges , students need to clear Jee Mains and secure a good rank to get into such colleges. For general category , students need to get the rank under 30000 to get admission to such colleges. Colleges are listed via Josaa Counselling. Admission procedure is the student need to bring some of the important documents such as 10th and 12th board marksheet , category paper , jee rank and other such important documents to get into the admission procedure. The process starts in the academic section.

Dark Reality of IIIT Kottayam

I my campus there are lots of clubs like coding club, hackathon there are many opportunities for the students who are intrested in coding field. And we also have cricket , football , batminton competitions to encourage students in playing sports
We have very good friendly faculty they will help us if we have any issue regarding subject or other personal problems and their teaching style is very good . Even if we don't understand anything they will take some special classes for us to improve
Even if we have students from different states initially we have some language barrier but after days passing everyone managed to communicate in one language that everyone knows , we all live here not like friends but as brothers

Dislikes

Our infrastructure is not so good , we have a small campus and it is far from the city even our hostel rooms are very small generally in our hostel room should be given to 1 person but they alloted 3 members in our rooms.
They are not providing us good food . If are cooking the food mostly in favour of North students many south indian students can't eat this food because there is no spice in the food and the cooking style is entirely different
I should say only one thing that our campus should provide good food for all the students and they should provide some big hostel rooms. Girls to boys ratio is 1:8 this is so sad to listen

Admission:

I also applied to IIITdharwad and i also got confirmed admission in it but have choosen this college because it has hot placements Yes, I got rejected in IIIT kancheepuram because my rank is not enough to get into that college All the IIIT's have same admission process first we need to give JEE Mains paper and then we have have to get enough rank to get a seat in this college , that process is done by JOOSA councelling and CSAB councelling In general one should get rank of below 30000 if he is a male and from general category

IIITK hostel nightmares

Likes

The amenities available seems good enough nothing to complain
Campus wide internet that is available all around
Covers important courses that support the building of the future of the graduate

Dislikes

Majority telugu students, so the elections for clubs are always one sided
Due to the location being in the middle of the forest the bugs are a big problem
Placements are not accurate to what is being advertised

Admission:

The college has a very attractive campus and it is very new so the facilities are also relatively new. The addmission process is only through JOSAA CSAP and DASA most students are picked through JOSAA where you are supposed to fill a table of ur ranking of the colleges you want to get into and based on if the seat is available compared to the other students JEE rank you can get the seat

Infrastructure our college is providing is top notch, you wont be getting that infrastructure even in IITs or NITs.
So much free time will be there( no academic work load ) this helps us to pursue our interests.and leaves on saturday and sunday and almost friday sometimes so you can explore things and lso go on trips sometimes
beautiful campus. also crowd in the college is less compared with other colleges so you can peacefully sit and enjoy the campus beauty also as college is situated in kerala you can explore so many beautiful places which are just an hour or 2 from clg

Dislikes

placements are worst. litrally for our batch from 2021 to 2025 batch almost 70 percent students are unplaced
strict timings. after 9 30 students cant roam even inside the campus. they'll be locked inside hostels
minimum of 80 percent attendance is required. no medical certificates will be allowed

Admission:

The only reason I choosed this college is because of it placements but now they are worst for my batch almost 70 percent people are unplaced. and i choosed this college because i wanted cse and either i could get lower branches in top colleges or top branchs in low colleges. so i preffered choosing cse. i applied for NIT Suratkal, NIT Warangal mechanical BUt i felt CSE Would be much better so i end up landing here. the other reason why i preferad my college is because of its beautiful campus. yes i got rejected from nit surathkal cse because my jee rank was low

Diversity is a good thing as there is no state reservation people from all over India is studying here
Good networking opportunities from outsider companies and colleges

Dislikes

Mess food is getting worse each and every day
Strict hostel hours. Its a central hov college but rules and too strict. No night roaming

Admission:

This is an institute with national importance and I got through JEE. I opted this college because of its reputation and also Im from kerala. The placement statistics also made me consider this institution

IIITK is a Mixed Bag

Likes

Internet availability at the hostels are very good
Gymnasium is available for the students for 1000 per sem
Different stores inside the campus can take care of the basic amenities

Dislikes

Food in the mess of disastrous quality and too expensive
Wifi in the first year hostels are bad and inconsistent
Location of the college is in the middle of nowhere

Admission:

I applied to this college through CSAB and got in on the last round. This college was only 4hrs away from my home and the reviews that I saw were all positive. Admissions are through JEE Mains only. There is a DASA quota for foreign students

1st YEAR REVIEW OF IIIT KOTTAYAM

Likes

Hostel life is basic but comfortable. Rooms are decent, and the mess offers a mix of Kerala and North Indian food. Students bond over late-night study sessions, assignments, and everyday challenges.
Seniors at IIIT Kottayam are incredibly supportive and approachable. Here no discrimination based on states.
And here language is not the problem at all. Most of the Kerala students, peoples know Hindi and English. Because in Kerala education curriculum Hindi is compulsory language till class 8.

Dislikes

Like most institutes, IIIT Kottayam requires a minimum percentage of attendance (typically 80%) for students to be eligible to appear for end-semester exams.80 percent is more than other government colleges.

Admission:

IIIT Kottayam’s strong focus on computer science and electronics aligns well with the career aspirations of many students interested in technology and engineering. Here admission is totally based on JEE MAINS PERCENTILE. I choose this college over BIT MESRA RANCHI because it is institute of national importance.

Admission:

This college is of national importance and therefore not easy to get into. One has to score a good score on the joint entrance exam(JEE). That is the only exam accepted for the admission process. The admission process is nice.

Inside IIIT Kottayam

Likes

Colleges location is mesmerizing. It's located on hills.
The crowd is too good. Every event feels like a festival.
Faculties are very helpful. One can write reseach papers under them

Dislikes

Parking Facilities are not good Enough.

Admission:

The admission process was smooth. One has to qualify JEE main to be eligible for the college. I got 96 percentile. For the preparation i took coaching from FIITJEE. Most of the admission process is completed online including fee payment for the first semester.
