Additionally, the institution recognizes the importance of supporting students financially and offers various avenues for scholarships, financial assistance, and campus employment opportunities.
Faculties are highly experienced with great knowledge and some of them have good teaching and mentorship style.
The classes are also very nice, the library is beautiful, well organized and peaceful.

Dislikes

We get information about scholarships, they are not interested in giving scholarships to poor students like us.
I disliked the lack of facilities in college sports, or music room facilities gym and all and mess is also not good
There is one almirah and one table and one bed provided in the hostel but the mess is really not good which was a problem in every college.

NIT DURGAPUR CSE REVIEW

Likes

The campus is great and awesome scenic beauty.
The peers are the best part about this college. I get to engage with lots of brilliant minds of this country.
The curriculum is pretty rigorous and challenging hence enjoyable.

Dislikes

The mess food is pretty average to bad .
The authority is not that supportive, this year only our fest ,Recstacy , got cancelled.
Some of the rooms have only 1 fan hence it is really hot in the summer.

Placement Experience:

We become eligible for campus placements from 7th semester onwards. But in case of internships we become eligible from 5th semester. The placements have been hampered because of recession but still many companies visited our campus for campus placements for the session 2023-24 such as Microsoft,Wells Fargo, Accenture ,Reliance,TCS and so on. Around 540 students are placed till now. With the highest on campus package being around 50lpa. After getting my degree my plan is to work in my dream company, as such I have no intention of pursuing higher studies.

The classes they're very spacious, it's gallery and it has air conditioning, pretty good.
I like the infrastructure, you feel like it's small but it is actually very spaciouos.
The environment, it's very green out in here, and it's soothing at times. It rains often and the feeling is just mindblowing.

Dislikes

Well, when it's summer it's too hot, and we can't bring in electronics like cooler or anything from outside to the hostel
The hostel management. Last year, the wardens were very linient with the first years unlike now.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I pretty much like everything here, now that I'm used to being a part of this college. The subjects cover most of the basics that we require as our foundation. So it's pretty good for now. Although in the beginning I struggled a little, I was able to cope up with not much difficulties.

The quality of the dining hall fare left much to be desired, as every dish seemed overly sweetened, and potatoes were a ubiquitous presence in every meal. Moreover, the menu lacked diversity, offering limited options on a daily basis.
Securing internships proves challenging for students. Hostel accommodations fall short of expectations. Certain instructors exhibit strict and discourteous behavior. The campus sports facilities are insufficient to meet student needs.

The college has a good alumni network, which helps students make important connections and get advice about careers from former students.

My 2 year nit durgapur experience

Likes

Fests and college vibes are fun. You can make friends worth lifetime
Good placement with good companies visiting our campus for hiring
Decent peers to work on skills and self improvement, some are quite competitive

Dislikes

Old curriculum and teaching methods are decent
Zone culture exists here which leads to college politics
Some people can be a bad influence on you due to certain habits . Iykyk.

Students can get internship from 4th semester itself. But major internships start from 5th semester and campus placement at 7th semester. The companies coming here are at par with other similar ranking nits , with Microsoft, jp Morgan, wells Fargo etc visiting our campus

Here is a detailed review shared by my brother who completed his graduation from NIT Durgapur

Infrastructure: Honestly, the infrastructure isn’t all that great but will provide all the basic amenities necessary for a good academic environment.
Faculty: Most students have to resort to self-study because the professors are not very passionate about teaching. However, if you do good projects under a professor, you may be able to pursue a master's in a foreign university.
Placements: NIT Durgapur has recorded excellent placements. This year the highest CTC offered was INR 70 LPA while the average salary offered was INR 13.64 LPA. The top recruiters included TCS Ninja, PwC, ICICI Bank, Microsoft, and many others. More than 100 recruiters participated in the placement drive and 633 students were placed.
Opportunities: The NIT tag will open a number of opportunities for you and the alumni network is also quite extensive. You can also avail opportunities like workshops and clubs.
Campus life: The campus life is very active with many fun-filled events like the freshers' farewell party and celebration of regional festivals. Additionally, a number of cultural and technical fests are also held.
Administration : The administration is very slow and is not cooperative. You might face some issues.
Location : NIT Durgapur faces no major connectivity issues. The railway station is 30 mins or 14 km away while the nearest airport is at Andal, which isn't well connected, so Kolkata Airport will be a better option. You can find the Auto rickshaw stand just at the main gate.
