Course Exam Accepted
B.Arch NATA
BBA UGAT
M.Tech GATE
KSRM & KSOM CAT, XAT, MAT, CMAT, GMAT
PhD UGC NET

Ques. How can I get admission into KIIT’s B.Tech program? What are the required eligibility and exams?

Ans. KIIT offers B.Tech admissions primarily through the KIITEE entrance exam (now a computer-based test). Candidates must have passed 10+2 with at least 60% aggregate in PCM (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics). A small number of seats (especially in CSE) are also allotted based on high JEE Main ranks. After the exam, qualified students participate in the university’s counselling and seat allotment. Seats are directly allotted based on KIITEE or JEE Main ranks.

Ques. What is the MBA admission process and eligibility at KIIT?

Ans. For the 2-year MBA at KIIT School of Management (KSOM), candidates need a bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks (and 50% in 10th/12th). Admission is through a valid national management test score. The university accepts CAT/XAT/CMAT/MAT/GMAT or its own KIITEE Management exam. Shortlisted applicants then go through Group Discussion (GD), Written Ability Test (WAT), and Personal Interview. Final selection is based on exam score, GD/PI performance, and academic records.

Ques. How does KIIT select candidates for its B.Arch program?

Ans. Candidates are selected for B.Arch at KIIT on the basis of their NATA scores and performance in the 10+2 examination. They must have passed class 12th with 50% marks in physics, chemistry, and mathematics.

Ques. What is the admission process for medical courses at KIIT?

Ans. KIIT accepts NEET examinations for admission to its medical programs. For MBBS and BDS, candidates will be selected based on their NEET UG scores; meanwhile, admission to MS/MD is based on NEET PG scores. Seats are allotted on the basis of MCC NEET Counselling.

Ques. Are scholarships or fee waivers available at KIIT?

Ans. Yes, KIIT offers merit scholarships for top KIITEE rankers. The KIITEE topper gets free tuition, and the top 1,000 KIITEE rank holders receive various tuition waivers, subject to a 6 CGPA in their semester exams. In addition, state/national scholarships (SC/ST/OBC, OBC/EBC, etc.). For MBA students, KSOM provides partial waivers, ie, a 50% tuition waiver for the top 5 scorers in the KIITEE Management exam or very high CAT/XAT/MAT scores.

I applied to a few other colleges, but i could not secure good percentile in the JEE Mains, so getting admission into top government college was difficult for me. Because of this, I started looking for good private engineering colleges. Since my native state was Odisha and my parents preferred that i stay within the state, i decided to choose KIIT then. In my opinion it is one of the best university in Odisha for cse with good infrastructure, experienced faculty, and decent placement opportunites. The admission process was quite smooth and mainly focused on entrance exams - KIITEE

Admission:

I chose KIIT University for B.Tech CSE after comparing it with several other private and government colleges I applied to. I had applied to colleges like VIT Vellore VIT Chennai SRM University Manipal University and a few state government engineering colleges through state level counseling. I received confirmed admission offers from SRM and some tier two private colleges, but I chose KIIT because of its better campus infrastructure safer environment balanced crowd and relatively stronger placement record for CSE when compared to those options. I could not make it to top government colleges or institutes like NITs or IITs mainly due to a lower rank in JEE Main and high cutoffs for CSE branches. Competition was very high and even a small difference in rank made a big impact on branch allotment. In colleges like VIT and Manipal, although I got admission offers, the overall cost and crowd quality for my preferred campus were not as suitable for me as KIIT. The admission process at KIIT University is smooth and student friendly. Admission to B.Tech is mainly through KIITEE which is the most preferred exam for students applying here. The eligibility criteria include passing class 12 with Physics Chemistry and Mathematics with a minimum aggregate of around 60 percent. KIIT also accepts JEE Main scores for admission. Cutoffs vary every year based on demand and branch preference but CSE generally requires a decent rank in KIITEE or a competitive JEE Main score. The overall admission experience was well organized with online registration counseling document verification and seat allotment handled efficiently. The support staff was helpful and the process was transparent. Compared to other private universities the admission system at KIIT felt structured and less stressful which also influenced my final decision.

Kiit also gives various facilities which other colleges fail to provide . The faculty, infrastructure, ambience in kiit is much better than other colleges . The admission process is very easy and student friendly . Students have to give KIITEE exam and then secure over 50-60% to get a seat otherwise they can opt for management quota as well .

KIIT: 3 Answered Questions

If unluckily I would get less than 60% in 12 boards but I have already got EEE branch in KIIT during KIIT Counselling, then will I get admission there?

Rishabh SinghLives in banglore

You’ll get an admission at KIIT. You don’t need to worry on that front. But the main issue is regarding placements. Most IT and core companies have an eligibility requirement of 60% or more in 10th and 12th boards. Though some companies don’t have a strict minimum requirement.

But the point is, if you want to sit for a good number of companies during placements, you’ll need at least 60% in your 12th boards. This does not apply only to KIIT, but every university/college.

The best way to determine the right choice between VSSUT Burla and KIIT is to go through the pros of both colleges. I have listed some for reference

VSSUT

  • VSSUT has an amazing academic ambiance with intense competition among peers.
  • It’s a government university so enjoys a good reputation.
  • It has a strong alumni base because of its legacy of more than 60 years.
  • It’s a challenging environment that prepares you for life challenges when you actually enter the corporate world.
  • VSSUT charges INR 91,280 (1st Year Fees) while KIIT charges INR ?3.5 Lakhs (1st Year Fees).

KIIT

  • KIIT has a much better campus and infrastructure facilities.
  • KIIT offers excellent opportunities for research and other projects.
  • It has well-maintained and hygienic hostels.
  • KIIT has a higher budget so the fests and other events are organized at a larger scale.

Choose as per your preferences and goals.

Is there direct admission in KIIT?

Biswajeet SinhaB.Tech in CSCE from Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT)

If you haven’t appeared for KIITEE and want to get direct admission to KIIT, you will have to choose one of the 2 ways mentioned below

  • Either visit the admission department located on campus and talk about direct admission. They call it management quota and the fees charged for the same is higher than regular admission. For CSE it’s the highest and its in decreasing order for the rest of the branches
  • If you have a good JEE Main rank or 12th score, then they will consider your admission with donations.

These are the only 2 ways I am aware of to seek direct admission to KIIT.
