The institute offers a range of financial assistance options, including need-based scholarships for students with family incomes less than Rs. 6 lakhs, and Merit-cum-Means (MCM) scholarships from the Government of India. SC/ST students can apply for specific government scholarships. The State Bank of India provides education loans up to Rs.
40 lakhs with a lower interest rate under the merit loan scheme, and other banks also offer competitive loan options. The highest placement package in 2020 was Rs. 48.5 lakhs, with an average package of Rs. 18.76 lakhs, and 100% placement in finals and internships. The highest internship stipend was Rs. 3 lakhs for two months. Yes, In addition to the Need Based financial aid, there are scholarships for Scheduled Caste (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST) / People with Disabilities (PWD) participants by the Government of India: National Fellowship & Scholarship for Higher Education of Scheduled Tribe Students (Central Sector Scheme), Merit Cum Means Scholarship For Professional and Technical Courses CS, Central Sector Scheme for Scholarships for College and Universities Students
The Institute assists the participants in availing of educational loans from banks during the admission process. The details regarding the process are made available to the participants after they are offered admission to the Institute. The Institute endeavors that no candidate be denied the opportunity to pursue the Post Graduate Programme for want of adequate financial resources. Keeping this in mind, IIM Shillong has provision for a Need-Based Financial Assistance Scheme to help economically weak MBA participants. The number of scholarship awardees and quantum of assistance is decided on the basis of annual gross family income, participants' liquidity, credit worthiness, and her/his overall suitability for the same.
