The placement process if two fold, with first one commencing in the first year for summer internships. And after the first year you either get PPO or you go for the final placements. 98-99% of the batch gets places, with some of them opting out the placements.

We get a host of recruiters from different domains. Most of the offers are made in Marketing doamin. If you have decided to take up Human Resources as your specialization then your top priority should be options such as XLRI, TISS, SCMHRD, and MDI. Beyond these options the placement opportunities in other colleges for the HR domain are limited and you have to struggle to bag good offers. Even top IIM’s receive very limited opportunities for the domain of Human resources.

A total of 170 students were there in the 2020 batch at IIM Shillong. Out of the 185 offers made, only 7% of them were from Human Resources & operations domain combined.

The highest package received by the students in this domain was 48.5 LPA. Some of the companies that visited for the particular domains were D.E. Shaw, Moglix, TATA Steel, Tillomed Laboratories, and Titan. An increase in the package offered was recorded in this season by 42.5%.

It must be noted that very few students opt for HR as a career option in IIM Shillong. You will not find great opportunities in this domain.

The Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management (SJMSOM) in Mumbai offers several advantages to its students. According to a report, the highest salary package for the 2022 batch at SJMSOM was approximately 49.39% higher than the previous year, at INR 49 LPA. The average salary for the 2020-2022 batch was also 18.1% higher than the previous year, at INR 25.9 LPA.

IIM Shillong placement cell is not very helpful. The placement records shown are edited. Students do not get a return of what they had paid for. The placement committee is responsible for conducting a well-organized placement drive. The committee tells all the recruiting companies that they have got the first slot. Students are also forced to carry out this lie.

According to the official website, the summer placement highlights for 2021 are as follows.

The highest CTC offered this year was around 3 lakhs. While the average CTC offered was around 1.31 lakhs. The average CTC has witnessed a 17% jump from last year.
The average stipend received by the top 20% and top 50% of the batch was 2.36 LPA and 1.67 LPA respectively.
A total of 68 recruiters participated in the campus drive spanning across different domains.
Sales and Marketing remained the most sought-after domain, with 33% placement offers. Consulting & Strategy (24%) and Finance (17%) were the following domains.
Aditya Birla Group, AB InBev, Cognizant, Emami Group, Goldman Sachs, Google, ICICI Bank were among the regular recruiters.
IBM, Brain Capacity Network, Deloitte India, Pepsico are some of the first-time recruiters that participated in the 2021 summer placements.
This summer placement witnessed a 100% increase in the number of offers made in General Management.

Your overall academic background, experience, and activities are observed and play a role in the selection process, majorly IIM course scores are considered. IIM Shillong Placements 2023 has been concluded for the batch of 238 MBA students. 85 students received the PPO / PPI through their internships. A total of 63 recruiters visited and among them, 26 were new recruiters. IIM Shillong's highest package stood at INR 71.30 LPA and the IIM Shillong's average package stood at INR 26.96 LPA, showing a 16.70% increase in the average CTC than the previous year. IT & Analytics domain offered the highest package in 2023 placements.
