AIIMS all over India have some of the best hostels, but none can compare with the facilities at AIIMS Delhi hostels. I completed my MBBS from AIIMS Patna, so I’ll inform you a bit about our hostels-

The boys’ hostels do not follow any in-time. This is because the college library is functional 24*7, so the boy students are not bound to hostel timings. Boys can bring their relatives to their hostel room, but they need to mention it in the guards’ register. Girls aren’t allowed in boys’ hostels, and vice versa. The girls’ hostels are comparatively more strict and restrictive.

Having said all this, AIIMS hostels are filled with all the freedom and necessary facilities. Its hostels will be the last reason for you to dislike an AIIMS.

Apart from AIIMS Delhi, AIIMS Bhopal has one of the most lively and comfortable hostel life. My brother is a resident there and shared his hostel life experience quite often.

There are no strict restrictions regarding the timings to enter and leave the hostel and students, especially boys, come back well past midnight.
The warden is very lenient and does not impose strict rules on the hostellers
A very strict rule followed by AIIMS Bhopal is the prohibition of AC installation

Here are a few points of differences between MBBS from AIIMS Delhi and MAMC

The quality of education offered is definitely better at AIIMS Delhi because it accepts only the top 50 while MAMC accepts 250.
The internship opportunities are better at MAMC than at AIIMS
PG at MAMC is better than at AIIMS as the latter provided minimal clinical exposure; they.
AIIMS has mostly rare cases and very less communicable diseases like typhoid, tuberculosis, malaria, and pneumonia in AIIMS.
Most AIIMS students are sent to Safdarjung Hospital and there is capping on OPD patients as well. PGI Chandigarh is better as they don't shunt patients anywhere and keep all of them.
Most AIIMS faculty do not belong to AIIMS and they are not much familiar with its technology while at MAMC you can manage most of the cases from the second or third year of your residency.

I feel at the DM level AIIMS is better but for cardio and gastro, MAMC is better. Ultimately the choice depends on your personal preferences.

AIIMS Rishikesh serves a huge variety of dishes throughout the week to cater to all types of taste buds keeping in mind the overall health of the students. There is a schedule for the menu over the week, which is changed periodically to break the monotony.

AIIMS Rishikesh has it all. Be it simple daal-sabzi-roti or Paneer and Chicken. A variety of sweets are also served from time to time to cater to those who have a sweet tooth. The mess has both North and South Indian cuisines there is something for all the students coming from different corners of India.

Additionally, there is a well-functioning OTC that provides tea, coffee, Maggi, omelets, and snacks, till late at night, to satisfy midnight carving, especially during exams. They also sell packed food items like milk, ice creams, chips, etc.

AIIMS Rishikesh has a mess run by students and a mess provided by the mess contractor. A mess committee is a body comprising a Mess head, Joint secretary, Menu committee, and Hygiene committee all elected by the students.

Usually, the food served is as per the student's choices and the final decision is made at a monthly meeting by the menu committee.

Overall, the quality of food served at AIIMS Rishikesh is decent with enough focus. Hygiene.

AIIMS Delhi does have its own rules and regulations policy but adherence to these is rarely seen within the campus. A few hostel rules included are

You are prohibited from installing your own AC, but almost every room has an AC.
You are not allowed to make any modifications in the room but most students renovate their rooms as per their needs.
The rules prohibit students from inviting other students to their rooms without permission but even students of opposite gender can be seen together in the same room.
As per the hostel rules, AIIMS students are not allowed to bring electrical appliances but most students have installed their own refrigerators, microwaves, and toasters.
The hostel prohibits students from staying with their families at home but some residents of Delhi go back to their homes daily.

All in all, AIIMS Delhi hostel rules are just for formality, and rarely does the administration implement them.

As a resident of AIIMS Delhi hostels, you are completely free to customize your room as per your needs. Many of my friends there got their rooms painted and even brought their own AC, microwave, and refrigerator.

In AIIMS Bhopal, the hostel deadline for girls is 10 pm and for boys, there are no timings. Even for the girls, the library is open till 2 AM. There are no strict timings for both the girls and boys and they can stay out after 10 pm also. Many students do that.

From the third year, these timings and rules are even more relaxed. Until the third year, a student can have minor arguments with the warden or the guard but there will be no major issues or problems. For events also, there is no one to watch you. With the help of the student union, no one interferes in the college fests or events. They don’t keep a student under eye for 24*7 and students can be around in the hostel campus these times as late as 4 am also.

These rules are relaxed after the first year as earlier the deadline was off till 9 pm for girls. The rule of boys could not enter girls hostels and vice versa still pertains. The students can visit the PG and intern hostels at any time.
