Course Curriculum Overview
the course is great considering it includes few topics that are vital for further studies and some topics are such that they help in real world applications as well. statistics is like a pre-requisite required for every field. if someone wants to build a career in finance, then learning statistics and applications on excel is essential. if someone wants to be a data analyst/scientist, then stats does give you an edge over others. if acturial, then stats is the best choice for you!! so the course is quite relevant and prepares for further academic pursuits.
Internships Opportunities
the internship opportunities are available to everyone in the college, from the first years to fourth years, besides company requirements if applicable. in 2025, more than 60 companies and startups came for recruitments and over 180 students were offered internships. the highest stipend offered was 1.75 lpm, which is quite an hefty amount!
Placement Experience
the placements of sri venkateswara college are quite good. campus placements are offered for third and fourth year students to the best of my knowledge. the average ctc offered was of 6.43 lacs, highest of 13.4 lpa. many great companies like bain and company, bcg, ey, deloitte, pwc, goldman sachs, accenture, rsa offered placements. in total, 70+ companies came and about 115+ students were placed.
Fees and Financial Aid
the fee is quite reasonable for the course. it also includes the fees for computer labs ie. technical labs required for practicals. the skills we get to learn are essential today- excel, sql, R, extremely important!! yes there are scholarships offered under the science merit. so considering the rigorous course, the fee is decent.
Campus Life
sri venkateswara college organises two fests in a year- jalsa, exclusively for venky students and nexus, for students from all over. jalsa is held in sept while nexus in feb/march. the library is quite decent, it has all the books one requires for their course. the facilities are great- the ict labs are well mentained. canteen food is decent in taste and hygienic as well. the gardens and lawns are also well maintained. there are many student led clubs in our college that have impacted lives! the sports and extracurricular activities are great- students play badminton, cricket, do open-gym.
Admission
i applied to du colleges including jmc, lsr, srcc, sbsc, kmc, ramjas, hansraj, hindu. i got admission in jmc, sbsc, kmc, ramjas but i chose venky over these because of the location and my course preference (stats>eco). the admission process involves of three steps- clearing the cuet cutoff, accepting the seat, and finally paying the fees. the eligibility for my course is having studies maths/applied maths in class xii. the cutoff in cuet 2025 was 807.
Faculty
The faculty is quite nice, they're very approachable and they do help as and when required, hance the student faculty relationship is nice. if you're considering to pursue statistics, then one of the teachers who taught us in our first sem (mks sir), hee is amazingg- the way he teaches, makes you understand the concepts with so much ease- its exceptional!! the exams include continuous assessments, internal assessments, class tests etc. all of which are of a moderate level.
Night Life
opposite to the college, is the area of satya niketan which is filled with cafes. so students often go there to grab a bite or hangout with friends. famous places that i've been to, are dohful, qd's, wendy's and the belgian waffle. i haven't been out at night in that area so i've no idea regarding the night life but there's a lot of places to hangout.
