- Administrative issues are constant. Every document takes time to process, and there are constant delays in the working of administration.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is aptly relevant according to today's standard. A B.com degree allows a student to pursue various financial disciplines later on in life which is why I chose this degree. The curriculum involves the knowledge which a student might need to secure a job in a good finance firm, considering they have extracurriculars backing them up. We are also given a choice to choose 2 subjects of our choice each semester, which are also relevant, and up to date, helping students gear up for the real world. An are of improvement in the curriculum would be the integration of application based learning, in which a student would have to apply their financial learnings in an internship for a grade. The exams are held at the end of every semester, with small class tests in between the semester for internal assessment marks
Placement Experience
The college offers decent college placements. The average package in Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma college is 5 LPA. Many companies (50+) are hosted during placement drives, including MNC's. The college provides good opportunities for both commerce and science backgrounds. The highest package offered in ARSD was 21 LPA. My plans after getting the degree is to prepare for CAT exam, to provide a boost to my finance career.
Fees and Financial Aid
The year-wise fees I paid as a general candidate was ?19030 per annum for B.com (prog) course In Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma college. admission fees are minimal too, ranging for 1500 to 3000 according to categories. I am not aware about the fees paid if a person has a reserved category, but there are concessions for reserved seats, including a lower admission and tuition fee. There are also scholarships available after you are admitted into the college.
Campus Life
The college provides a very alive and diverse social and campus life. The college societies are active, The student pool is diverse. The college also holds an annual college fest, and also a special fresher party for the newest batch of students. The college library is a great positive of the college, as it is quite large and has available almost any book that a student might need and more. It is also fairly easy to get a book issued on your library card. There are computer labs, chemistry labs, and every technological facility that is needed for education. The sports infrastructure is lacking though. There is not a lot of sporting events. The college does have a ground, and a basketball court. The college societies acticely engage and provide students with an overview of the real world, helping them become a better self in every way.
Admission
I applied for all colleges in Delhi University. I got accepted into Delhi college of arts and Commerce, and then later got upgrade to Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College. I did not apply to any other university. I wanted to get selected into a North Campus college, but my score was not enough for it. The only way to get admitted into a delhi University college is through CUET, in which I scored 815/1000 (96.5%ile) after which I got admitted into ARSD. The cutoffs for colleges in DU, especially for high demand courses like B.Com are quite high.
Faculty
The faculty of the college is helpful and understanding. They help students out whenever they can. The professors teach well, and are eager to clear doubts. the administration however, is not up to the mark. There are constant delays, and almost no accountability is taken for the same. There are 5 cumpolsary exams each semester, with the choice of choosing 2 practical subjects or theory subjects. The difficulty of the exams is fairly easy, except a couple of concept heavy subjects, but the exam is lengthy. It is also fairly easy to pass in the subjects.
Night Life
The late night activities are not very prevalant, as most of the shops/cafes close before midnight, but there are 24/7 stores nearby from which students can buy snacks and drinks. During the evening, although, there are many places a student can go to unwind or have fun with friends. There are gaming cafés nearby, many franchised restaurants, and other activities. The campus life around the college is really great, with access to almost everything. There is also a nescafe stand inside the college which is one of the favourite hangout spots of college students.
