Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course is CBME approved, so there's no need to worry about the curriculum. The National Medical Commission (NMC) has introduced a new Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) curriculum for the MBBS program in India. This curriculum focuses on practical, patient-centric learning, integrating subjects, and early clinical exposure. It emphasizes the development of specific competencies, such as clinical skills, communication skills, and problem-solving abilities. The curriculum is divided into three phases: Foundational, Organ System-Based Clinical, and Clinical. Assessment includes continuous assessment, practical exams, theory exams, and OSCEs.

Internships Opportunities

5

There is 1 year compulsory internship in the college after 4.5 years without which the students are not given their MBBS degree. An intern has rotations in different departments like dermatology, anesthesiology, surgery, ophthalmology etcetera, which gives an aspiring doctor a first hand experience of a hospital setting.

Fees and Financial Aid

The total fees of the college is around 93 lakhs, 19 lakhs per annum (for 4.5 years) is the tution fees, 50000 was the security deposit and the hostel fees is 1.5 lakhs per annum, the total budget for the deemed candidats comes out to be around 93 lakhs for the whole course (hostel and tution fees included). The above fees structure is for the deemed quota candidates, for NRI candidates who joined in 2nd round of MCC counseling the Tution fees is 29 lakhs per annum and those who joined in 3rd round the fees is 40 lakhs per annum. Apart from this there are no hidden charges in the college. No scholarships are available for students as of now.

Campus Life

5

The campus life is pretty vibrant, there are acting clubs, singing clubs, art clubs, dance clubs, literary clubs, sports club etcetera you name it. The college infrastructure is also pretty decent, right now as a lot of construction is going on, a new extremely huge auditorium is being built, a new hostel is being built, and many buildings are being renovated so expect many improvements in future. Many fests like Ekatva are organised every year, since the college is located in hyderabad students can also go to osmocon organised by Osmania Medical College which leads to the student gaining a lot of exposure which helps in international exams like USMLE, PLAB etcetera. Other great colleges in hyderabad like Gandhi and Mamta also regularly invite Malla Reddy students to participate in their fests. So in terms of exposure Malla Reddy is easily one of the best deemed medical college in India. In terms of sports facilities there is a huge cricket ground, soccer ground, cricket turf, basketball court, table tennis etcetera. There is gym also available.

Hostel Facilities

5

The hostel facility provided is excellent for some boys and extremely poor for some. Earlier this college was a state medical college with reservations for telanganite students so most of the students used to be day scholars but in 2024 it converted into a deemed university with students coming from all over the India the demand for hostel rooms increased leading to shortage of rooms, so the management decided to stuff some students (including me) in 2 sharing rooms in pairs of 3, so 3 students are staying in 2 sharing rooms. Thankfully this problem was solved within 4 months time after the admission as a new hostel was built where some students were shifted. The meals provided are actually good if compared to other hostels, the biryani provided here is extremely delicious and non vegetarian food is served almost everyday, in terms of quality food the hostel mess is really good.

Admission

I wanted to take admission in Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical Science, but the unfortunate thing was in 2024 they increased their tution fees exorbitantly leading to me looking for alternatives and MRIMS turned out to be a good alternative. Through the only shortcoming of the hospitals affiliated to this medical college is that some patients don't speak Hindi or English, which causes a lot of problem in patient interaction, but this is just a minor hiccup. The admission in MRIMS was via MCC counseling only as its a deemed to be university. The eligibility is the student should've scored more than 50 percentile in NEET UG, the cutoff for 2024 admissions was 381 marks in 2nd MCC round, the overall admission process was smooth and transparent with no shady practices involved.

Faculty

3

The HODs and senior professors of every department i.e Anatomy, physiology and biochemistry all are excellent at teaching their respective subjects, we are provided with ample cadavers in the anatomy lab, sufficient equipment in physiology and biochemistry labs. Most of the faculty is strict and asks questions mid lecture in order to ensure students are actually listening. The faculties are easily approachable and clear all our doubts related to the respective subjects. A teacher is assigned as a mentor to a group of students(which are called mentees) and the teacher helps and monitors those group of students keeping track of their academic performance and any help they need related to a particular subject. Talking about exams, there are PCTs(Part Completion Tests), internal assessment and the final exams, PCT exams of 1 subject are taken every other week, internal assessment are taken at semester end and final exams are at the end of the year. Students are more likely to fail in internals but mostly all students pass in final exams.

Night Life

5

The college is a little far from the centre of the city but at the same time it's not outside. It's at the corner of the city, but in the surrounding area you'll find good eateries, cafes and clubs to hang out in to unwind after a long day. There is college gym available and there are gyms available outside the campus also, cafeteria is also pretty good. The hostel timings are 9PM for girls, 10PM for boys. The locality where the college is is good, not too shady, so girls can feel safe here and The locality is densely populated.

Other Applied Colleges

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose the course as I wanted to be a good doctor in India. The course's total duration is 5 yearand 6 month including internship. All department have almost 30 faculties. They teaches us theory in projector at lecture hall. Practical classes are conducted separately in individual department. We have to pass out all the subjects unlike engineering colleges there is no option of having backlogs if we fail in our exams, and so have to pass all the exams without fail. During the course, which is pretty chill during the regular days, and have exams every semester (6months) which are held by the college itself and the finals are held by the University every 3-5 semesters (no. of sems change every year ).
