Course Curriculum Overview

The BMM program is highly relevant for people looking for a career in Advertising, public relations, journalism, digital marketing etc. It offers a blend of theoretical knowledge along with practical exposure Having to make short films, and documentaries going with a full-blown Ad campaign, Creating a brand of your own and coming up with its entire marketing design, or running a digital campaign.

3

The college has an Internship and Placement cell which send you the opportunities and keeps you updated. Recently there was also and Internship Fair organised in the college campus with multiple companies coming to the college and offering internships to students. The stipend ranges from Rs 7000 - 15000

The fee structure for Bachelors of Mass Media program offered by Jai Hind College is divided into a 3 year period 1st year - Rs 32000 2nd Year - Rs 32000 3rd Year - Rs 37000 That makes the course amount to be Rs 101000 only, which is a nominal amount for the exposure and the opportunities provided by them. Campus Life

5

The cultural committee of the college known as Social and Dramatic Union or SDU manages the main fest "Shoutt" It invites over 25 colleges to participate in the 3 day fest with different competitions relating to dance, music, fashion and sports. It also invites esteemed judges and celebrities to enhance the fest. There is also a Sindhi language based club called Sindhi Circle which organises their own fest called Hojamalo to celebrate the Sindhi culture and its traditions. Then there are other departmental fest like BMM's Detour; BMS's Talaash, other fest like Entourage, Aetihasik etc Another notable fest is the TedxJaihind which invites several Tedx speakers to college to educate and inspire students. There are also several other clubs functioning in the college like the Rotaract Club, History Club, Political Science Club, Literature Club etc

Admission

I had applied for St Xavier's College Mumbai and Mithibai College Mumbai. I got into St Xavier's and decided to not go ahead with the admission because of the nature of the curriculum offered there. According to me, BMM is a practical course and requires practical knowledge and experience that Xavier's college couldn't offer. Their course is more theoretical in nature hence I choose Jai Hind over Xavier's. Also Jai Hind is much lenient in terms of rules and dress code, attendance compared to the other colleges.

Faculty

4

My course has 3 main faculty members. Others are visiting faculties, who are industry professionals taking their time out to teach the students. The batch is divided into two sections- per section 60 students. The faculty is very knowledgeable and credible. Examinations are of two types - a) Semester End Exams and b) Continuous Assessments.

Interview Experience

4

The admission process started with an online multiple-choice test for students which assessed General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Logical Reasoning and Mathematics. The merit list for students was based on the criteria of 50+50 (50% from online entrance test + 50% from 12th board results) The average computation of both was used to roll out the merit list which was followed by a personal interview with the HODs.

Night Life

4

There are many go to spots for JaiHindites to go after lectures like Bharat Cafe, JS Hall Canteen, Mcdonalds, Burger King which are in the vicinity. There are also public libraries like Asiatic Library or Kitab Khana nearby. Multiple cafes in Kala Ghoda and Colaba area are our go to area's for jam like Colaba Socials or 145 or Miya Kebab etc. But the main spot given that our college is located on A road Churchgate has to be Marine Drive. Catching a sunset after your lectures at Marine Drive might not solve everything but does make you feel better.

Other Applied Colleges

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course. It helped me in my personality building and also I learned new things like- Video and photo editing, handling cameras, communication skills, Acting, Advertisement writing and shooting, and many more. Class strength is good as they allow 25-30 students for one course. Faculties were too supportive and masters of their own fields. They take 2 internals and 1 final exam at the end of the semester which is of 6 months.

I chose this course because I want to be in the film industry. I want to become an actor. This course helps us to get aware of all the media industries. Be it films or television or even radio. Form third year students become eligible for campus placement. Many reputed companies like times of India hindustan times visited our college and got various students selected based on their caliber. The average package here is a around 5-10 Lakh per annum. Only those students who are talented enough for any post get selected for particular job. I'm planning to do a internship in popular media House.
