Remarks

The positive remark about college is since this college is new, everything starting from the foundation is to be done by students and faculties only so it gives quite a lot of exposure to students, developing their personality also. And also the weather is quite good for self study. The negative is the connectivity to the present campus. It is very tiresome and hectic to reach campus

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is initially copied from NIT Calicut since NIT Calicut was the mentor college for Sikkim. But initially, it has created its own curriculum with the suggestions from students and inputs from other reputed institutes

Internships Opportunities

No, for now, it is not providing any kind of internship for undergraduates but for postgraduates, they are providing internships under the hods and Ph.D.'s. I don't clearly know the stipend figure but it may be around 15-20k or more

Placement Experience

4

Placements are quite good here knowing the reputation and age of this institute. Now there is more than 20 alumnus in Intel, more than 20 in power grid. BPCL, mu sigma, Amdocs, L&t power and construction, Capgemini, Inatech, tech mainstay, and many more.

College Events

4

Udgam cultural fest and Abhiyantran technical fest.udgam is organized in the even semesters where it is organized by 2nd-year batch and Abhiyantran in odd semester organized by 3rd year students. Both are huge ones.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is common like the tuition fee is common for every nit, but some other extra fees is taken that is different in every other college and different for other branches like some group fees, medical fees sports fee cultural fees but it is very less as compared to other nit's but mess fee is quite because of the location

Fees and Financial Aid

No as of my time there was not any facility Luke this was provided by the college. But normal scholarships to SC st's and minorities can be easily availed through their respective state governments by getting the nod by the college administration. There is Sbi and hdfc there who can be helpful in getting your loans

Campus Life

2.5

Labs and sports are getting day by day better. Earlier the labs were issuing then we were sent to premier institutes like IIT Guwahati and IIT Kharagpur for labs. But in those cases, our mid semesters were traded for it but overall that was a boost. But now having our own labs students can learn a lot through their own too

Hostel Facilities

3

Hostel infrastructure is now getting good day by day. Also, it is heard that now Nit Sikkim has a good amount of land in lower altitude land that will boost the infrastructure and in turn the placements and other exposures. But talking abt the present structure only it is quite good with Wi-Fi, washing machine gym canteen in hostels

Alumni/Alumna

There are alumni group run by one of our professors where they regularly update their contacts. The alumunus through their link provides opportunities by sponsoring or sourcing college students. Many of the colleges have got better opportunities after the college also through the alumunus links

Exam Structure

Exam structure was earlier like in one semester there were two internal exams of 25 marks then the end semester exams of 50 marks with labs and projects to be presented before the end seem exam. There are mini projects and projects.

Admission

The admission process is totally offline. Firstly u will get the seat in counseling, then u have to either lock this seat or move further for the next round. If u locked this seat then u will be provided a date on which you have to submit the documents and DD for fees

Faculty

3.5

For some branches like Eee, civil the faculties are very good. Earlier there were quite good faculties for ECE and Cs also but they left when got other good options or jobs in other NITs and IITs. Some went abroad for research also

After 5th semester, the college has on-campus internship options and after during 7th semester, you will be eligible to sit for campus placements. Many companies come for campus placement including IBM, NVIDIA, Deloitte, etc. PLacements for CSE, ECE, and EEE are very good. In 2023 highest placement was from EEE of 44 lakhs from NVIDIA. In Mechanical most of the students get PPO. For Civil, very least options are available. Usually, 80% of students get placed every year.

JEE Mains, one of the toughest exams in the country was required to be qualified by me, to secure my seat. I worked hard to crack it and got admission here. It took some time for the verification of documents and then I had to pay the fee. My documents included class 10th and 12th scorecards, character certificates, SOP, internship certificates, and financial documents.
