- Location of college, as there is waterlogging in monsoon
- The curriculum is a little bit more on the theory side than practicals
- The strict attendance of minimum 75%, which is non negotiable even after submitting applications
Course Curriculum Overview
The college is affiliated under MAKAUT with academic autonomy, so the syllabus followed is from MAKAUT. The curriculum matches with GATE dyllabus, and training is given for placement interviews and exams occasionally.
Internships Opportunities
Internships are not that popular, the ones which we get are along with the placement, which is basically the training phase of the job. Projects are encouraged, and for internships students have to apply on their own, but the college does inform about open applications and opportunities.
Placement Experience
From 6th semester the students are eligible for campus placements. Around 5 to 6 companies visit on average, the average package is around 4.5 lacs to 5 lacs. The highest package of this year was 26 LPA. Every company offers ranges of around 4.5 to 7 lacs per placement drive.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees for the 4 years course is 475000 approx. The stucture is semester wise, each semester requiring 50000 to 55000. Thus, yearly it is around 1.5 lacs. Tuition fee waiver is available for higher ranks in entrances like JEE mains or WBJEE, in that case the fees is minimal
Campus Life
The campus life is very good. Multiple fests are organised. Every department has its own technical fest, followed by a lager technical fest where the whole college participates as a whole (Tesseract). There are annual sports events, which include sports like volleyball, basketball, table tennis, etc. There is an annual cultural fest known as Zyzzva, which is accompanied by an inter college cultural competetion named Euphonius, this is considered the biggest event of the year. Many celebs are invited as guest performers and ofcourse, there is in house performance.
Admission
I had to give WBJEE (rank was around 31k) to get into CSE. Admission through JEE Mains is also available. There is also a 3rd category of admission, i.e., direct admission where students have to contact the college directly to get admitted.
Faculty
The faculty of my department is very helpful. Their teaching style makes it easy to understand topics. Equal attention is given to all students be they on first benches or last benches. Teachers encourage project and research work and are ready to help in any of those at any given time.
