Likes
- The college has been recently renovated. The classrooms are huge. The teachers are extremely knowledgeable and they help the students always. In our English department specially, our professors have always helped us with everything.
- The professor are very proficient. The library also has a large collection of books on all subjects. It has centralised AC.
- There campus even though small is very green. We have a stage for all our celebrations. There has been no cases of ragging or bullying.
Dislikes
- The campus size is quite limited. There is no ground for sports.
Course Curriculum Overview
The English honours course under CU and in our college is very compact. It covers all the topics any student of literature should know. From the history of literature to modern and post-modern literature, it covers all aspects of English literature. For anyone who wants to pursue a career in teaching, the curriculum helps with that.
Fees and Financial Aid
It's a government college so the fees is nominal. For each sem it was approx 2500. Scholarships like SVMCM were available. There is annual internship programs. Many companies come to recruit students.
Campus Life
The college hold annual program during the months of January or February. Also, the inauguration day of the college is celebrated every year. Even Saraswati Puja and Christmas is celebrated in the college. There are indoor sports options like carrom or table tennis. There is also annual sports day which is also held during winters.
Admission
The cut off for English was quite high like almost 80%.When we took admission it was for the college to select according to the merit of the students. Now, there's a centralised selection process. The university now selects the students according to merit and then from the eligible colleges, the students can select.
Faculty
The teachers of the English department have always been very helpful. We had 4 professors for 36-40 students. They always taught us in a very engaging way. They covered all topics and shared all their knowledge with us. They also helped us with our doubts one on one. They are straightforward to approach and all our teachers loved interactive classes more than just a one-way speech.
