Course Curriculum Overview

5

There are several prospects, especially peer-to-peer counseling, where you get a mentor. We call it mentor mentee program. So, there will be groups of students, and each group will have a mentor who helps you whenever you face any issues whether in real life or in your academic journey. They’re always there for you. There are also remedial classes, and extracurricular activities are included in the curriculum. You even get the freedom to choose what you want to pursue creatively, like joining poetry clubs and similar groups. Right now, I’m at Banaras University, and the curriculum here is really good. We have sessions on public speaking, how to conduct interviews, and many other practical skills. These are highly commendable because they help you in professional situations like the one I’m in now. However, I would say that teachers could be a bit more active with electronic tools like using PPT presentations or audio-visual methods instead long lecture sessions. As for exams, I wouldn’t say they’re too difficult because there are many weekly assessments and sessionals, which actually help you evaluate yourself better.

Internships Opportunities

5

I'm doing an internship under THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF SCOTLAND AND THE MURSHIDABAD PROJECT. It's a joint venture on history and artifacts. Here we are talking about how we present history, what changes them how it influences the people? How it shapes narrative? How it deals with a long-term back-end emotion and trauma. It's a lot of things and I can't disclose everything.

Fees and Financial Aid

So I paid around six to seven thousand rupees per year, and it really differs. It depends on the year, depends on the stream, depends on who’s handling the administration that time. Like when I first took admission, I paid around 1,600 rupees, but the next year they changed it a bit and it became around 2,000. So yeah, it changes, youknow. And again, It’s not a fixed amount, but still affordable. And regarding the scholarship. Everybody gets something if they deserve: I got around 12 thousand rupees per year because I got really good grades in my exams and the government. Aided me and the college and the university, they helped me to get that. And yes, there are difference sets of fees structure for general and the SC, ST category. The minority groups, they don't have to pay the largest amount.

Campus Life

4

There are many festivals. You get freshers, you get Saraswati Puja, you get the celebration of Holi. And you also get, umm, the Bengali regional festivals. There are many events the college authorities organise, and all the students engage in them. We can perform, we can dance, we can recite, we can participate in any of the activities. And there will be music festivals during the freshers party, and a very well-designed farewell party as well. We have a library, the primary one, and there is also a departmental library for every department. So, basically, there are different libraries. And the faculty provides ebooks and PDFs if needed. We have air-conditioned rooms, projectors, big monitors, and full accessibility to all of them. For sports, the facilities are quite extensive. You can play basketball, volleyball, cricket, football—all the outdoor games as well as indoor games like carrom, puzzles, or chess. There is a chess club. And there’s a poetry club, there’s a magazine, and you can even write your research papers, which will help you get them published.

Admission

I applied to around three colleges, like one government college, Krishnagar, Chapra College, and then Krishna Deol. And I chose Krishna Deol because it’s, well-renowned, I'd say and I also talked with some local people before taking admission, and they suggested that this would be a better choice for me. And I kinda loved the strictness of it. I didn’t get rejected by any of the colleges I applied to, but they were, umm, quite late with their responses, especially the government college. The admission process issimple. If you’re from West Bengal, you don’t have to do much. You just submit your basic documents like your Class 10 and 12 marksheets and certificates, your basic ID, your school leaving certificate, all that. There’s an online form you fill out, and then they take a small interview or, like, ask you a few things. And after that, once you pay the fees, your admission is done. There’s no other exam in the process.

Faculty

We have around 42 students and we have around 6 professors, it's sufficient enough. Eng. Department was very active with their curriculum and syllabus, there is no complaint about that and they were very friendly as well. So yes the faculty, they were amazing. For me, SC sir and DH sir — they are the best. Sometimes the exams, they might feel a bit overwhelming, but as I am in a university now, doing my masters... I understand, that it was not that bad haha For six semesters, there will be total 12 exams. One, is the final one conducted by the university and then another six, which will be your internals, conducted by the college and there will be some weekly sessionals organized by the college (again) so yes, lots of exams. More than 90 percent of the students passes their exams and you get another chance if you fail. The exams are moderate to difficult, I'd say. Yes, the curriculum is reasonably relevant, I'd say.

Interview Experience

There where a particular session where they ask you about you credentials and check the papers. But not coherent discussions. But it's important to keep it in your mind and you gotta have some primary awareness about the college since it's one of the oldest one.

Night Life

2

The college does have a gym is pretty good and a big cafeteria library. And again I mentioned that we have departmental libraries as well. But again, there is no nightlife. after 5pm to 6pm you have to go home because there is no hostels and there is no big campus kind of thing. So there is no famous hangout places inside the college, but there are hangout places outside of the college. There's an old palace of the king very renowned ( Rajbari, Krishnagar )you can visit there
