Review of Siliguri Institute of technology, Darjeeling

Well, the curriculum my college is following is falls under MAKAUT University. I'm in BTech 2nd sem we have subjects like Maths, Engineering drawing, English, Chemistry, C language all five have first theory and following laboratory class, which helps students to learn about nice things like how to design something in AutoCAD software, how to code. But it lacks what we have to do as a CSE engineer we should focus more on Software development instead of chemistry and physics but it's Indian education policy you know.

Internship offered here by the companies are Microsoft, Tech Mahindra ,TCS, Amazon, Infosys and many start up. They offer paid internship in which student have to do some work for the company like designing the website, finding the bug, providing tech support. Last year a girl from 3rd year ECE got internship in ISRO and she got a job there.

Students become eligible for placement by the start of 5th semester, you will get many internship by applying. The companies visited this year is Tech Mahindra, TCS, Infosys. Highest on campus placement was 14LPA by Infosys Average on campus placement was 4-5LPA Highest off campus placement was 51LPA by Microsoft Percentage of students getting placed was about 70% Many opt for higher studies

The fee structure of Siliguri Institute of technology, Darjeeling is for BTech, it's INR638000, since it's NAAC affiliated. It provides scholarship only to students who passed his intermediate examination from West Bengal.

The name of annual fest is SITEX, this fest will be held in the month of May, before the even sem exam. College library hai around 50k books and a good reading friendly reading section. College also held annual sports which includes cricket, football, badminton, carrom, chess, table tennis, etc College has many groups for Photography, drama, art and craft, etc

Course eligibility criteria is you should have opted for science in 12th (PCM) if you have Computer science in 12th then it's awesome for you, but if you didn't then teachers will teach you from basics. I got admission through my WBJEE rank, i admitted through online counseling. In this college you can take admission by two process- By counseling (WBJEE or JEE MAIN rank is valid), Direct admission(only 10% seats are available for this). WBJEE exam has 2 papers: Maths for 100 marks, Physics and chemistry for 100 marks, and for JEE MAIN everybody knows the difficulty level of WBJEE is moderate, you can easily get into this college.

The faculty-to- student ratio is quite good you know there is almost 1 teacher for 20-25 students, they all have masters degree from prestigious institute like IIT, and many are P.HD holder. I interact with teacher when I attend class, I mean Monday to Friday.
