Remarks

Its one of the best college of Odisha and I feel proud to be a part of this college no negative remarks. One of the best medical college in Odisha and in fact India also feeling proud to be a part of this college.

Entrance Preview

Odisha jee 2011 for mbbs and bds. i secured rank 51. i opted this college because it is the best college of odisha and near to my home.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I think mbbs is one of the toughest course. We have to give exams for 19 subjects which is the lengthiest course to complete but it is never a boring stuff to read because we can able to know various physiology & anatomy of human being which helps us in medicine & surgery to diagnose and treat the cause.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, our college provides internships to our college students and we get 15k per month as stipend and it also offers externships to the students of other colleges who are willing to do internships but they do not get a stipend. Overall, it is the best college to do an internship because the case load of our college is highest so students can get a lot of exposure to different cases. This is the main point behind doing externships in our college by other medical students of different colleges.

Placement Experience

4.5

We have a lot of scope to serve either for our state or for any state across India and across the globe also. 1.To serve for our state we have to go through an exam called OPSC exam through which u have to enroll and give the exam if u qualify u will go through an interview and if ur selected then u have to join in the respective government hospital even after MBBS also without doing Post graduate. 2. To serve for different states of our country we have to give an exam called UPSC With same procedure as mentioned i.e written and interview 3. To serve across globe we have to qualify different exams life for USA it is USMLE and for other countries it is different.

College Events

5

We celebrate independence day, republic day by hoisting flag and distribution of sweets. We have our annual function every year. We have intermedical function in which students from different college of odisha join and do all the cultural, dramatic, fine arts, athletic events and many more...those were the best days i gonna miss..

Fee Structure And Facilities

Yes the fee structure in our government medical college is affordable. it is not expensive at all because a great chunk of our fees is being paid by our government as compared to the private medical colleges of Odisha. We have to pay a sum of 15k per annum as college fees for 5 years. Which includes hostel fees also.

Fees and Financial Aid

Our college provides a lot of scholarship to the needy. 1. Govt scholarship 2.scholarship for the SC/ST students 3.Scholarship for minorities Yes it provides government loan to the students who apply for it without any interest for 5 years and they calculate the interest after u pass out from college.

Campus Life

4.5

In our batch we have low sex ratio because we have 91 boys and 59 girls. Disproportionate ratio. Students from different religions and different community read here without any dispute among them. we also share same room without discrimination and same mess too. We also participate in extra curricular activities like sports (cricket, badminton, volley ball, football etc) and represented in state and national level also. We also have symposiums on medical topics, spiritual topics too. Every year the literary society organise essay competition letter writing, poem competition in our college and among all Odisha student once in 3 year ie during the inter medical function year. students from every college participate and the are felicitated in the function on prize distribution day.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

I reside in OLD GENTS HOSTEL of SCB medical college as there is a proverb called "old is gold"...really it suits my hostel...though it is the old hostel but it is the best hostel among the other 3 hostels.. We have 2 bedded, 3 bedded and single bedded rooms but I reside in 3 bedded room and it's bit comfortable. We have good mess to eat and they are hygienic too.

Alumni/Alumna

In first year they do a little bit interaction with us which is misunderstood by us as ragging and after that they mix up with us as if they are our friend. Seniors are like our fathers they guide us how to read for the exam what to do and what not to do they guide us to choose which subject to be taken for the post graduation course literally they guide us in all situation they are very friendly.

Exam Structure

Exams are one of the nightmare which can not let u to sleep... Passing in medical college is not very difficult but its not easy though.. 1.1st year we are unknown to the exam structure and all...we are like strangers to the course because the Anatomy is so difficult that u will barely imagine and for us to memorize and to write the papers all of sudden coming from a general college is very difficult but we have to cope of with the situation and to get pass is the biggest achievement . 2. The subsequent years we get used to and we enjoy the subjects as we progress 3.The final year is again a tough year to pass because it comprise of all the clinical subjects like medicine, surgery, pediatric, obs and gynae, orthopedics etc..and to read in a short span of time is bit difficult and challenging but not a impossible task. We barely get holiday to chill because being a doctor u have to do duty for 24×7 without holiday like a soldier.

Admission

Through medical counselling at CET Bhubaneswar..i cant able to recall the exact date but it was probably the 1st or 2nd week of july when the notification was released... All of the rank holders were called on a single date and i can able to read the anxiousness among the people to join their preferred college..i joined in my college on 21st july 2011. The administration was very good.

Faculty

4.5

One of the best faculty of odisha they are all highly qualified teachers and they teach us the subject in so nice way that u will remember them for life time and procure when required. Not all the teachers are same but maximum teachers are good and they are very friendly too they never hesitate to clear your doubt whenever u ask them.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is well organized by the authorities based on the latest medical aspect of our society. Practical classes and regular postings in hospital helps in better understanding. Being the only hospital in nearby cities, our hospital provides us a good exposure to varity of cases. Our Associate proff and HODs also look upto them and help us gain more real world experience. The best aspect of this field or if I have to say Why have I chose it is to serve the society. Absence of well qualified doc at the times of emergency is one of the leading causes of mortality in developing countried like India. Being in this profession, I just want to help people around me.
