Remarks

I had applied for B.Sc Botany (Hons) in A.D.P college in 2016 after completing the 12th exam. The seating capacity is limited for Hons. so I take admission under my OBC quota. The college released a minimum marks criteria 2 days before the admission date. The day of admission is very unusual for me as I never saw such a huge crowd of students for admission ever. At 10 A.M our counselling process has been started. The board members are calling our names on the mic one by one according to the number of the qualifying list. I was called at 109 number and then they asked me whether I want to admit to the college or not, if yes then if I need a quota or not. Then after completing they grant my admission proposal to the Botany department of that college.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

I was confused between Botany and Zoology, then I asked my friends, relatives and some neighbourhood about the department of botany in A.D.P college then they recommended me to take admission in theirs. After starting my course I realised that they were right, the faculty of the department is one of the best in the whole district, no other colleges have professors like them. It was a little bit tough for me to study in English medium, as was my background is in Assamese medium, but the faculty never let me down. They always encourage students in the study whether they are good or not. I never feel that I was an average student because they never let me feel so. The professors are well educated and they had done their PhD in their desired subjects from Gauhati University. Some of them also have other degrees like M.Phil. We have a strict rule of the exam, a weekly test was done to verify how much time we are giving to learn the course content.

Internships Opportunities

2.5

Generally, the internship is for the students of the Hebal science and tea technology department. Sorry but I don't know much about them, but I knew that some of them were sent to Delhi, Kerala and Mumbai for internships.

Placement Experience

3.5

After sitting in the final semester exam i,e. 6th semester, the door of placement and campus interview has started. Generally, private sector companies came to our college.UBI banks, Axis Bank, Mahindra Finance, Hyundai motors are the main companies. Generally, the company provides a fixed pay of 30-40k with some percentage of profit if the employee helps the company to sell their products to the customer. More than 40% of students got selected by these companies and the rest 60% go for a higher course or for couching. I went to ITI Nagaon to complete a vocational course and I am studying it till now.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees policy varies according to the course a student selected. The fees are a little bit high for the students of Science or for those who have a separate practical subject bind with the main course. At that time our economic condition is not so good, but thanks to the college administration and Assam government as they announced free admission for those whose annual income is less than 1 Lacs, and I got free admission for the next 3 years. But every student including me should have to pay 550 rupees for the departmental library from where we can take any coursebook we want in our study, which is quite good. I got three time OBC scholarship of Rs.7000 in the college. After completing the final semester exam the college organized a campus interview of the banking sector(EMI collector, insurance agent etc).

Campus Life

4.5

Every year of February 15-25, seasonal sports and cultural activities had conducted by our college named "Youth Festival". it was a very fun week for us. The college organized various sports programs like cricket, football, basketball, boxing, arms wrestling, badminton, chess, carrom, ludo. Except for those the college also organised cultural programs like singing competition, dancing competition, mimicry competition, stage act competition. On the final day, we got a special cultural event where a famous singer was with us to make the last day special and enjoyable.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum was a major factor that influenced my decision to choose this course, as it is well-structured and offers a balanced combination of theoretical knowledge and practical learning. The syllabus covers essential concepts in a systematic manner, starting from the basics and gradually advancing to more complex topics. The inclusion of practical sessions, assignments, and project work made the course appear relevant and aligned with current academic and professional requirements. This thoughtful design assured me that the course would help in developing analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and subject clarity, which are important for both academic growth and career development.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choosed the course because I dont have so much money to study for btech and all and also I didn't prepare for jee or neet so, the next thing come is mind is bsc that is in botany or zoology as I liked bio more than any other subjects. Yaa by reading botany I can know many things about plant and trees. The improvement that they can do is release a book according to the syllabus by the university and also add few more new teachers such that student can be friendly with them and ask their doubt . For me I think exam timing should be done... Like one before durga puja and one around December . And the difficulty level should be easy .

Course Curriculum Overview:

Areas for improvement: more industry collaborations, guest lectures, and hands-on projects. Some subjects feel outdated and could be updated. Teaching methods could incorporate more interactive sessions and case studies. Exams are held semester-wise, with a mix of easy and challenging questions. Difficulty level is manageable with consistent effort. Frequency is okay, but sometimes feels rushed. Overall, the curriculum provides a solid foundation, but could benefit from more flexibility and modernization to better prepare students for the industry.
