Remarks

I love my college, though I hate the place majhitar because of its hot weather. Obviously there are a lot of areas where the college can improve, but the faculties are great. The college doesn't always provide you various extra curricular activities, and to organise anything is a headache. But it is a fun college.

Course Curriculum Overview

The Course consists of total 8 semesters. The entire course is designed in such a way that the students are ready for the profeesional career ahead. There are various events and seminars which make us more knowledgeable. The exams are fair and are conducted with strict vigilance. The college has given me the confidence and knowledge required to be a profeesional.

Placement Experience

4.5

The placement in this college is surprisingly very good. Either it is because of large no. of pharmaceutical companies located in Sikkim itself. Every year many companieslike Cipla, Alembic, Torrent, Zydus etc come for campus recruitment and almost every one are selected.

College Events

3

The college organises many seminars where they invite many prominent person to speak on various matters. Every year college celebrates pharmacy week and college Foundation day. There are games, literature events, culture competition where other college too are invited.

Fee Structure And Facilities

College fee during my time was around 4. 5 lakhs including hostel, but the actual fee is higher as I along with 11 others that joined via state quota got 20% off the entire fee. Every semester we had to pay fees by deposit in the bank. They provided us the bills.

Fees and Financial Aid

No, I didn't opted for any loan. But I received scholarship yearly from the State govt by applying ST scholarship in the state govt. portal.

Campus Life

There are around 60 boys and 48 girls in my class. I had lots of fun in my college life and will be remembering it dearly for the rest of my life. There were no dorm parties as such, but we did go to college educational tour to Hyderabad and Kolkata. Lots of fun and memories in our 10 day trip. Our college students are diverse, there are Hindus, Buddhist, Muslim and Christian in considerate numbers. There were no political activities as such. Most of the students here are from middle class families.

Alumni/Alumna

Our college has a strong sense of brotherhood. At first joining senior will try to dominate you but as the times go by they become you guardian, friends and look out for you. All the alumnus of this college look out for you when they meet you.

Admission

I got the admission on the basis of Sikkim state quota, based on merit via Non CET. I was called for counselling on deorali girls school, from where I had choose the college of choice. Luckily for me there was still a seat vacant in Himalayan Pharmacy Institute. I filled the form and submitted necessary documents and I received and official order from State govt. Which I had to show to the college and join. I got 20% concession as a benefit. I chose this career because of great job opportunities and lucrative career.

Faculty

4

The faculties are great and are qualified, friendly and very cooperative. They are mostly from West Bengal, some are local. Most of the faculties are very easy to understand and communicate. They know each and every student by name and make sure you don't bunk the class. Moreover they try to always expand your limit.

Course Curriculum Overview:

If i have to talk about the curriculum then, overall its good. It covers all the aspect starting from very basics to the most advanced ones for both theory and practical. This course including the teachers prepares us (students) very well to face the real world applications or further academic pursuits. They emphasise more on practical based teaching then theory. If i have to give an example then its 3:7 ratio for a topic. Where 3 theory sessions and 7 practical sessions.

The placement cell in our University is available but is inactivity. There for least of the students are placed through University. Sometimes only the company with vacant position available over sikkim comes for placement. So to get a job we need to prepare and struggle ourselves to get a well paying Job.

After 5th semester, the college has on-campus internship options and after during 7th semester, you will be eligible to sit for campus placements. Many companies come for campus placement including IBM, NVIDIA, Deloitte, etc. PLacements for CSE, ECE, and EEE are very good. In 2023 highest placement was from EEE of 44 lakhs from NVIDIA. In Mechanical most of the students get PPO. For Civil, very least options are available. Usually, 80% of students get placed every year.
