Remarks

Because it has a good reputation. Placement record is also good in this college. I went to Techno earlier but it had no seats available and they recommended me Techno university. It was under Techno group and I wanted to be under MAKAUT. So I opted for IEM. It had good placement record, it also had a very good image. The record of the college is also very good and I joined this college due to all these factors.

Course Curriculum Overview

Course syllabus is average. Academics is average. Faculty is average. Some are good some are pathetic. Bidushi Chakraborty, Joydeep Mukherjee, Lavanya Deepika Tigga, are some faculty members who are good.

Course Fees: INR 300000 per year

Internships Opportunities

Ourselfstudy, there is no stipend. Till now I haven't got anything and I don't know whether I will get something or not. You only have to apply for internship, the college will give you then.

Good what I have heard. Amazon, Wipro, Cognizant, Decathlon are some big companies who offer us jobs

College Events

Campus life for me had been really baaadd. Have to say that the environment is not very good. I had a very good experience in my school but here it was disappointing. Events happen in our college. Be it gaming tournament, be it fest and others. In that area our college is doing a good job. Smile foundation, Tree plantation, Blood donation these events happen here. Industry visit is there. Internship is there. Football and Cricket tournament is there. Many guests come to give us knowledge what they have gained from their experience.

Campus Life

Campus infrastructure is average. The campus is not very big. Rooms are good. There was no AC when we joined. Now they have done this job for 2nd and 3rd year. There is no playground but a basketball court is there. A place to play cricket is there.There is a library of average size. There was no canteen when we joined. Now they have opened a canteen. There is only 1 boy's toilet. Pretty average.

Placement Experience:

I'm not sure but I think from 3rd year we will be eligible for placements. There are many finance companies, banks like HDFC, SBI, Canara,etc... & companies like TCS, Wipro, Capgemini, Deloitte, PWC,etc.... The highest package last year was like 9.64 LPA & in the year before it was 10 LPA while the average is around 2-2.5 LPA. Around 20% of the total strength gets placement. Even only few % of the total strength applies for the placements. My plan is to take a placement if I can or if not then off campusing and then gather work experience & do MBA later which will give me very benifits.

From Third semester, the students become eligible for campus placements. The companies like P360, EY, Deloitte, Tech Mahindra, Neutanix, BinaryWorks and few more visited our college for placements and mostly 15 to 20 offers were made Highest package was around 5 to 6 lpa 50% students were placed I am now preparing for govt jobs and side by side also applying for offcampuses. The hustles and joys of a college life.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I had chosen this course because of the Media and the lab facility, and my desire to understand the entire course in journalism and mass communication. The course that I took gave a bit more theoretical aspects rather than the practical ones. The practical ones were a bit less compared to theory ones. The areas I would suggest for improvement would be to encourage more assignments and provide more internship facilities to the students. The frequency of the exams for me was okay, and it was moderate, not difficult.

Studentsbecome eligible for placements from 7th semester. Various companies such as TCS, Infosys, Accenture, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Godrej, etc. come for placements. Earlier many offers used to come however in the recent years the number of offers made have reduced significantly. highest package comes around 10 to 11 lakhs per annum with average being 4-5 lakhs per annum. I have kept my options open after completion of degree in doing further studies that is Mtech or getting into a job whichever seems appropriate at the situation.

Well other than that I definitely put Techno Main , Heritage Institute of Technology, Jalpaiguri Government, kalyani Government and Haldia Institute of Technology too . But the rank didn't allow me to get my desired branch that is CSE in kalyani and jalpaiguri, so I had to close from the private ones and if you have to pick the best one in Kolkata which was also not far waya from my hometown , definitely you choose IEM , as it definately has a good placement track record and good curriculum. Well you can get into this college through WBJEE(which they didn't took this year ) , IEMJEE and direct admission too . But direct admission requires some extra donation amounts too . So I take admission through WBJEE in IEM KOLKATA in B.tech in electrical engineering. So now I talked about eligibility criteria:- You should pass your +2 from any board with a maximum of 60% Admission in this college is 3 types WBJEE, JEE MAIN, IEMJEE all three forms you will get notified by college dunia if you have an account in it. So the IEM KOLKATA is one of the best private colleges in Kolkata and you can say in India also so the cuttoff goes very high you have to get minimum rank for this college.
