Review of Goa college of Engineering

Positive - The Fee structure was excellent.The faculty were excellent and very helpful.The library was the best with huge collection of books readily available at any point of time.Negatives- Should renovate some old building and also improve canteen food and cleanliness.

The course structure was Good.There was mixture of everything.Like right from studying old school methods to new age technology.There was enough emphasis on research project as well.Exam structure was just like any other college with exams of 100 marks/subject at the end of Every semester.

Placement for my course was very bad.Only one company came that was Vedanta.We had internship program also where we were sent to different sites throughout countries to study different industries in Mining for period over 3 months.

There were mainly three types of events.Departmental Technical Event, college Technical Event, college Cultural Event.All of these events were organised across the year.college and Departmental events were participated by Students from ours as well as other college students.Cultural event was a very big event spread over the course of 3 days where 10 colleges participated every year.

Fee Structure was the Best.It was cheapest Engineering college anyone could ever attend.So it was very Feasible.During our time I paid Semester Fees of ?13000.And Hostel Fees were ?1500/sem.Exam Fees were ?1000/sem.For Financially backward student fees were reduced.And for Reserved category the fees were even less.

There were many scholarship available for financially backward student provided by the government and private organisations.In campus bank also provided student loans at very low interest rates.Govt also had special loans with Zero interest for Reserved category students.

There were many extra curricular activities organised in the college.They had almost equal participation from all genders.There were many groups and societies like Photography, Quiz, Dance & Singing.Tolerance regarding all the aspects were acceptable in all the cases.

For first 3 years of college the Hostel Rooms were allotted on sharing basis.Rooms were pretty ordinary with Bed and Mattress.They also provided Table Chair and a cupboard as well for every student.For final year students they provided small single sharing rooms.Each hostel had its own mess.There were 5 bathrooms and toilet in every wing of the hostel.Hostel had Wi-Fi and internet speed of 5MBps

college senior and alumini groups were excellent.Every year a event is organised where alumini shares his/her experience and teaches student what they've learnt.This has helped lot of students be industry ready when they graduated from college.

I Had Done Diploma in Mining Engineering and this college had then started offering new course in Mining so I took admission in this college.Admission was by done on the basis of Merit List after answering GCET.In councelling rounds on my turn i was asked to choose desired course and college.Thats how admission process started.

Some of the Faculty were inexperienced and some were well known and very experienced in the Field and Industry.Faculties always took extra effort in helping students.They used to help in all possible ways with extra classes and some extra notes as well.
