migrating from DU SOL (School of Open Learning) to a regular DU college — this is a very common question and the honest answer is:

direct migration from SOL to a regular DU college is extremely difficult/practically not possible under normal circumstances.

why: SOL and regular college programs are structurally different. regular DU college admission is through CUET (and previously cutoffs). seats in regular colleges are filled at admission time — there's no formal transfer mechanism for SOL students to regular colleges mid-program.

what IS possible:

  • complete your SOL degree and then apply separately for a postgraduate program at a regular DU college (regular MA/MCom etc.) if eligible
  • re-appear for CUET fresh and get admission to a regular DU program as a new student — but you'd restart
  • SOL's BA/BCom degree is valid and recognized by DU and most employers — it's not a lesser degree for most career purposes

if you're in SOL and want a regular college experience, your realistic option is to complete SOL and then pursue PG at a regular college. contact DU's SOL office for any exceptional transfer provisions that may be current.

The SOL-to-regular-DU migration question — the short answer is "technically possible, practically very hard." Let me break down the reality.

Official process:

  • Migration from SOL (School of Open Learning) to a regular DU college requires applying to the DU Transfer Committee at the start of a new academic year.
  • You must have cleared all first-year papers (no backlog at all).
  • Seat availability at the regular college is required — they won't create a seat for you.
  • Merit-based selection: Your SOL marks compete with students who originally got those college cutoffs via CUET.

Ground reality that most answers skip:

  • Transfer approvals are rare. In most cases, colleges don't have surplus seats, and the Transfer Committee receives far more applications than available seats.
  • Better strategic alternative: Complete your current year at SOL (clear all papers with good marks), then reapply through CUET for regular admission in the next cycle. You'd start fresh but with a stronger academic record.
  • The degree value reality check: An SOL degree is a Delhi University degree — the certificate says "University of Delhi," same as regular colleges. For employment, it's equivalent. Migration is only worth it if you genuinely want the regular college infrastructure, internships, and peer network.

If you're doing SOL for the DU degree brand: you've already got it. Focus on grades and build your profile through internships and certifications independently.

Yes, you can migrate from SOL DU to regular colleges. A few years back, the system of migration was discontinued. But now migration of students is allowed as both DU SOL and DU has semester base evaluation system.

Here is a video explaining the procedure of migration from SOL to Regular

If you have secured 60% marks in your first-year examination, then you can migrate from DU SOL to DU regular colleges.

Yes, it is possible to migrate from DU SOL to a regular college and vice versa, but there are various rules and regulations for that and the student will have to meet all the requirements laid down by the university.

  • Although it is possible, the process of migrating will be really difficult and confusing because of the different studying patterns at both these colleges.
  • In DU SOL the examination routine is in annual mode and in DU the exams are conducted in semester mode.
  • Also, the seats available in regular colleges are very few, so all the students who are applying for migration would not get admission to a regular college.
  • Inter-university migration is also allowed to the students under certain terms and conditions and the student also must meet all the requirements to get permission for the transfer.
  • In honors courses, migration is generally not allowed by Delhi University, but in some cases of exceptional students, it can be considered within the span of five years from the date of admission.

Hence, migration is possible from DU SOL to a regular college but there are very strict rules and regulations set for the process and the student must meet all the requirements to be accepted by a regular college.
