NIT Uttarakhand is one of the 31 NITs in India. They have highly educated faculty members, among them 51 are assistant professors and 18 are trainee teachers.

UIET Chandigarh (PU) is a government institution which has collaborations with many research industries for the benefit of the emerging student population.

Admission Details

• Students should have 75% in their 10+2 qualifying exams.

CSE Job Roles:

Students graduating with CSE can work as Software architect, Data Scientist, Software engineer, Java Developer, Software developer, Database administration, Network Developer, System Database Administrator, Computer Programmer, Engineering Support Specialist, Data Warehouse Analyst, System Designer, Lecturer or Professor, Computer Operator and Research Analyst.

EEE Job Roles: 

Students graduating with EEE can work as Control and Instrumentation Engineer, Broadcast Engineers, Design Engineers, Consultant, Electronics Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Nuclear Engineer and System Analyst.

According to the placement records NIT Uttarakhand will be a better option than UIET Chandigarh, be it CSE or EEE. Both CSE and EEE are very much in demand due to the rapidly growing corporate sector and the growing demand for Power Engineers and Telecommunication Engineers.

DTU is ranked at 36 amongst all engineering colleges in India by NIRF 2020. MAIT is ranked at 89 by the week for BTech.

The Engineering Physics program at DTU is related to applied physics and has electronics as a major subject and minor electives which include Nanoscience, Nuclear engineering, Photonics, space, and atmospheric science, etc. Whereas,EEE strictly focuses on electrical subjects and excludes minor electives.

Admission:

• Both the colleges admit students through joint admission counseling (JAC) that is based on JEE scores.
• A student needs to have a minimum of 60% for the general category and 55% for SC/ST/OBC categories in 10+2 to be eligible for admission.

Placements: Both the colleges organize placement drives each year.

DTU-

• Top recruiters at the institute are Amazon, Optium, Magicpin, Ion Trading, Wipro, Hitachi, etc.
• The median salary ranges from 6.2 LPA to 9 LPA.
• The placement rate is 87%.

MAIT-

• For MAIT, the top employers are Accenture, Infosys, ZS Associates, TATA power, DDL, Indian army, Air force, and Navy.
• The median salary range is 3.75 LPA-4.25 LPA.
• The placement rate for the institute is 63%.

Engineering Physics and EEE are two completely different branches of engineering. The former has more opportunities for higher studies and DTU offers great exposure for that. Many students went on to pursue MS in Ivy League Universities from the course. Whereas EEE has better placement. You should choose the course you are more interested in and the institute according to that.

NIT and IIEST are long-established academic institutions. Competition for seats at these colleges is intense, especially for engineering branches such as EEE, ME and Civil. While NIT offers 168 seats in ME, IIEST offers 136 seats for civil engineering.

• IIEST: The green campus, with three water bodies, is spread across 114 acres and is intertwined with modern technology.

• NIT Durgapur: Spread across 187 acres, the green campus includes buildings, hostels, and an academic centre. It has two fields: The Lords and The Oval.

Facilities

• IIEST: The institute offers facilities like hostels, Library, Labs, Canteen, School, etc. It also provides hospitals, ambulances, sports clubs, and entrepreneurship activities.

• NIT Durgapur: A number of facilities are offered, including hostels, recreation, auditorium, canteens, labs, guesthouse, computer centre, medical care, library, etc.

Placement Statistics

• IIEST: Top recruiting companies were Accenture, Aditya Birla, ICICI Bank, Microsoft, etc. The highest package was 39.12 LPA.

• NIT Durgapur: The highest package offered was 32.5 LPA. Top recruiters are Wipro, TCS, Amazon, Microsoft, and L&T.

Courses Scope:

• The Electrical and Electronics Engineering studies electricity and electronics. EEE graduates are employed in sectors like Electronics, Telecom, aerospace, etc. Professions include Electrical Engineer, IAF Member, Telecom Electrical Engineer, etc.

• Mechanical Engineering involves the production, designing, and operations of machines. ME graduates are employed in R&D, Design, Production, Analysis, Testing, Installation, etc.

• Subjects taught in Civil Engineering include Geotechnical Engineering, Structural Analysis, etc. Employment sectors for this branch include Irrigation companies, construction, land development, etc.

Students must compare both the streams and colleges carefully. Individuals’ capabilities and expectations decide which one will be perfect for them.

Saveetha Engineering College is an autonomous private college affiliated to Anna University. The institute ranks 78th by India Today and holds a campus placement record of 93% every year. 

EEE department consists of 22 faculty members and is committed to achieving academic excellence and promoting R&D activities. The department produces engineers with self-discipline, high integrity, and pleasing personalities by providing excellent training and education.

The professors of the EEE department directly interact with the students and solve problems even after the class. The department is well-equipped with the latest laboratories and modern facilities. 

Admission details:

• Admission to BTech/B.E is offered to the students who have pursued 10+2 from any institute recognized by Anna University. 
• Applications are made through the TNEA, and admissions are offered based on the merit of the candidates. 
• The intake of the college is 250.
• The course fee required is INR 85,000.

Placements:

Saveetha Engineering College has a placement record of 100% for all its departments. More than 87 companies offered jobs to 93% students in the on-campus drive in 2019.

EEE’s significant recruiters are TCS, Wipro, Cognizant, IBM, Infosys, Accenture, Justdial, Mindtree, Mphasis, etc. 

Faculty:

The institute has a large and diverse faculty of 122 members. They are the most distinguished scholars who constantly do research in their respective fields.

Facilities:

• The college hostel provides separate accommodation for the boys and girls having 380 boys and 300 girls respectively.
• The central library consists of 1000 books on several topics and journals.
• The canteen provides a great seating arrangement for the students. 

Thus EEE from Saveetha Engineering College has a good future and provides a better career for the students.

MAIT is one of the top ten colleges in Delhi and is amongst the top 100 colleges in India for pursuing a BTech degree. Although NIEC holds no such ranking, the management and infrastructure of the college are at the same level as MAIT.

Admission Criteria:

There are three rounds for admission. For taking admission in these colleges, students must sit for the JEE Main examination and the prerequisite for admission is a minimum of 55% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in 10+2.

NIEC- The IT department at NIEC has a total of 180 seats out of which 85% are reserved for Delhi candidates.

• The college has a general cut-off of 14, 9262 for students residing in Delhi and 87727 for out-of-state students.

• The cut-off for SC/ST/OBC is 585015.

MAIT- The EEE department at MAIT also has 180 seats out of which 85% are reserved for Delhi candidates.

• The college has a general cut-off of 154753 for students residing in Delhi and 63215 for out-of-state students.

• The cut-off for SC/ST/OBC for students in Delhi is 615460 and outside Delhi is 461051.

Placement Details:

NIEC-

The placement of the IT department at NIEC is better than the other core departments of the college.

• The average salary offered is 2 LPA, while the highest is 6.5 LPA.

• In 2020 more than 60% of the students got placed in companies like Infosys, Wipro, Samsung, Amazon.

• Students of this department have to look for off-campus internships on their own as the college plays no role in providing internships.

MAIT- The placement of the EEE department at MAIT is average.

• The average salary is 3.5 LPA and the highest salary is 12 LPA.

• Very few companies come to recruit students from the EEE department, and mostly the IT and CSE departments are favored. Companies like Accenture, Infosys visit the campus placements.

• Internships are not provided by the college, but students can contact its placement cell for guidance.

• More than 47% of the students got placed in 2020 from EEE.

Both the colleges have excellent infrastructure with well-maintained classrooms, libraries, and updated laboratories. MAIT has additional housing and gym facilities which are not provided by NIEC. The course curriculums of IT and EEE departments at NIEC and MAIT are not updated, and there is less industry exposure. The tuition fee for IT at NIEC and EEE at MAIT for four years is 3.87 and 4.69 respectively.

The electrical engineering department received the second-highest CTC of 39 LPA from IIT ISM Dhanbad. Around 76% of the ECE students got placements in top companies namely Flipkart, Accenture, Wipro, etc.

The School of Electrical Sciences in IIT Bhubaneswar received the highest placement record. The students got placed in Microsoft company last year with the highest package and average package of 38 LPA and 11 LPA respectively. Moreover, a good number of Core companies, software companies hire electrical engineers from IIT Bhubaneswar. A total of 86% of students got placed from EEE in 2019 placement.

ISM Dhanbad is the better choice than IIT Bhubaneswar because of its better campus infrastructure and large alumni base as it is the older institute.

If we talk about statistics and past records, IIT Bhubaneshwar is a better choice.

IIT’s have the best faculties in the country. The level of research work and the flexibility IITs provide is exceptional. The companies that come for placement purposes are also distinguished from other colleges. The infrastructure at IIT Bhubaneshwar is developed and the campus is very well sustained for overall development.

Since Electrical Engineering has been from the start of IIT BBS, placements are great there. The placements for the early years were not that great but for the last 2 years, the situation is incrementing. In 2019 the placement rate for EE at IIT Bhubaneswar was 86%. The highest package went around 39 LPA by Adobe.

Placements at BITs Hyderabad have been relatively lower with median CTC around 5 LPA and the highest CTC around 14 LPA. Around 94% of the students got placed from the campus last year.

Both the brands are prominent ones, but the level of exposure and opportunities that you will get at IIT Bhubaneshwar may overpower that of BITS Hyderabad.
