IIT Kanpur has released the final selection list for the Joint B.Cyber programme with IIT Madras on July 9, 2026. Selected candidates must complete admission formalities by July 21 at wsais.iitk.ac.in.

The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) has released the Bachelor of Cybersecurity (B.Cyber) 2026 selection list at wsais.iitk.ac.in. The programme is jointly offered with the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras). Selected candidates must complete reporting formalities within the stated window.
The list marks the final stage of the joint admission cycle. It follows an on-campus hackathon assessment held earlier this month. Chosen candidates can now confirm their four-year degree seat.

IIT Kanpur B.Cyber 2026 Eligibility Criteria
The joint programme sets a clear eligibility bar for applicants. Only Indian nationals could apply for the 2026 intake. A valid JEE Main score from 2025 or 2026 was mandatory.
- Class 12 passed with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as core subjects.
- A minimum of five subjects taken in Class 12.
- Date of birth on or after October 1, 2001 for the general category.
- A five-year age relaxation for SC, ST, and PwD candidates.
- No prior admission to any IIT undergraduate programme.
- A maximum of two attempts in consecutive years.
How Was the B.Cyber 2026 Selection Done?
Selection ran in two clear stages under the joint admission process. Initial shortlisting used the best JEE Main score of the candidate. Applicants also had to submit proof of prior cybersecurity work.
The shortlisted candidates then appeared for an on-campus hackathon test at IIT Kanpur. It covered cryptography, web and API security, OSINT, and reverse engineering. Notably, a JEE Advanced score was not required for admission.

IIT Kanpur B.Cyber Programme Structure
The four-year course splits into two different phases. The first two years focus on classroom learning at the host campus. The last two years shift to real government field work.
Each classroom semester carries 51 credits of coursework. The field deployment semesters carry 54 credits each. Most placements in the field phase come with a stipend.
- Years 1 to 2: Coursework in cryptography, operating systems, computer networks, data engineering, digital forensics, and cloud security.
- Years 3 to 4: Deployment with government bodies covering security operations, offensive security, and critical infrastructure protection.
Students earn a Bachelor of Cybersecurity degree from their host institute. IIT Kanpur and IIT Madras will each award their own degree. Candidates can pick the campus of their choice at admission.
The programme also offers flexible exit options during the course. Completion of 150 credits earns a certificate. Completion of 200 credits earns a diploma.

IIT Kanpur B.Cyber 2026 Fee Structure
Application fees ranged from Rs 1,600 to Rs 3,200 for the 2026 cycle. Reduced rates applied for women and for SC, ST, and PwD candidates. Programme tuition matches the regular IIT Kanpur undergraduate fee schedule.
Selected candidates must pay the admission fee during seat confirmation. IIT Madras follows its standard undergraduate fee schedule for its selected candidates.
How to Complete B.Cyber 2026 Admission?
Selected candidates must confirm their seat on the official WSAIS portal. Admission is finalised only after online reporting and fee payment.
- Visit wsais.iitk.ac.in and open the admission link.
- Log in with your application ID and password.
- Download the provisional offer letter and read all terms.
- Upload the required documents in the format specified.
- Pay the admission fee via net banking, debit card, credit card, or UPI.
- Submit the seat confirmation form before the reporting deadline.
This is India's first joint four-year cybersecurity degree run by two IITs. It also does not need a JEE Advanced score. Selection uses JEE Main plus a live hackathon test.
