CAT 2025: How to calculate scores using the Answer Key?

With the help of the CAT Answer Key and your Response Sheet, you can easily calculate your expected score before the official result is released. The process involves identifying which of your responses are correct, incorrect, or unattempted, and then applying the CAT marking scheme.

CAT 2025 Marking Scheme

Question Type Correct Answer Incorrect Answer Unattempted
MCQ +3 marks –1 mark 0 marks
TITA (Non-MCQ) +3 marks 0 marks (No negative marking) 0 marks

Apply the Formula

Total Score = (Correct MCQs × 3) + (Correct TITA × 3) – (Incorrect MCQs × 1)

Unattempted questions do not affect your score.

CAT 2025 Section-Wise Score Calculation

CAT 2025 has 68 questions divided into 3 sections: VARC (24 questions), DILR (22 questions), and QA (22 questions).

If your response sheet shows:

Section Correct Incorrect TITA Correct MCQs Incorrect
VARC 15 5 2 5
DILR 10 4 3 4
QA 12 3 4 3

Apply scoring:

  • VARC Score = (15×3 + 2×3) – (5×1) = 45 + 6 – 5 = 46
  • DILR Score = (10×3 + 3×3) – 4 = 30 + 9 – 4 = 35
  • QA Score = (12×3 + 4×3) – 3 = 36 + 12 – 3 = 45

Estimated Total Score = 46 + 35 + 45 = 126
