AIIMS, New Delhi, has announced the schedule for the Online Seat Allocation Process for INI SS (Institute of National Importance Super Specialty) courses. This includes admissions to DM, MCh, and MD (HA) programs for the January 2025 session. Eligible candidates can now begin the process of exercising their choices for the first round of seat allocation from December 26, 2024, 5 PM onwards to December 29, 2024, 5 PM. The first round seat allotment is out on December 31, 2024. Shortlisted candidates must accept the seat and report to the allotted college by January 6, 2025 (5 PM).
Institute of National Importance Super-Speciality, abbreviated as INI SS, is conducted by AIIMS, Delhi for admission in various postgraduate programs such as DM, MD, M.Ch, etc. The exam is held in two sessions- January and July.
For stage I, the exam features multiple choice questions of 80 marks with a negative marking of 1/3rd marks per question. Note that if you qualify stage I, you are eligible for admission to any participating institutes; however, qualifying the stage II, which is a departmental test, would make you eligible for admission in AIIMS/PGIMER. Departmental test is for candidates who qualify the exam with 50% marks.

Who is Eligible for INI SS?
The eligibility criteria isn’t different for any categories of students. But there is age limit set by AIIMS and PGIMER. Check out the detailed criteria discussed below
- 55% in graduation in medicine from a recognised university/college.
- A minimum of 50% in class 12 from a recognised board.
- At least 3 years for work experience in any government hospitals.
- Candidates with a five year experience in general practice are also eligible.
- Registration with the State/Central Medical Registration Council is mandatory to take the test.
- The upper age limit for DM/M.ch in AIIMS is 35 years, for PGIMER 45 years. For JIPMER Puducherry there is no age limit.
What is the Application Process for INI SS 2025?
The registration window for January and July session is released separately for a a period of 20-25 days. For January session the application date is September 29, 2024 and for July, the registration is expected to begin by March 2025. The application process involves providing the personal and academic details, uploading of the required documents, followed by a fee payment for successful submission of the application.
The application fee is INR 4000+ platform charges and the fee si same for all candidates regardless of gender, category, etc. However, PwD candidates do not need to pay any fee for the examination.
INI SS Pattern and Mode
Stage I of INI SS exam is a screening test which follows the given pattern:
- The total number of questions included are 80 and the entrance will be held in CBT mode only.
- For 80 questions, 90 minutes are given with a negative marking of ⅓ marks on every wrong attempt. You must remember no marks will be deducted for for unattempted questions.
- The question paper will be in English and in MCQ format.
- The stage 2 will be held for 20 marks.
Is Admit Card a Necessary Document for INI SS?
Yes, you must carry the admit card at the allotted center as a primary identity proof during the examination. The admit card for January 2025 session is expected to be out by the October 2nd week, 2024. For July session, the admit card is usually released by April.
The authority issues the admit card to candidates who have successfully registered and paid their application fee. The admit card download link will be activated on the official website, aiimsexams.ac.in. You just need to login to your portal using the required credentials.

INI-SS Result 2025
AIIMS Delhi releases the IN scorecard within 6-7 days from the date of the exam. The authority will publish two merit list- Common Merit List (CML) for candidates qualifying stage I examination and AIIMS Merit List (AML) for students clearing both stages. Candidates after passing out the stage I can proceed with the counselling process to get into participating colleges.
As per the tie-breaking rule, if two or more candidates have the same score in INI SS, the older candidate will be given the preference.
How is INI SS Counselling Conducted?
The counselling for INI SS condules in 3 rounds to fill 625 seats. You have register first, choose the preferred colleges and lock your choices. But it id mandatory to complete the counselling registration fee to abe able to opt for the desired colleges. Once the seat allotment result is you need to either accept the seat and report to the allotted college or decline and participate in the round 2 process.
