Fees and Financial Aid

The college takes 17000 around of fees per year which is very cheap considering other colleges charge exorbitant fees for the same bad courses. Other batchmates have lesser fees, I'm a general category guy. There are scholarships for students as well, that's also good.

Faculty

Faculty to student ratio is good, it's around 1:30. But they are not at all approachable, they're like the biggest entitled humans I have ever come across and I am not even exaggerating. Don't even give marks in internals even after getting Ramjas laurels.

Faculty

Faculty members of LSR are very experienced and well-versed with their subjects. They take classes sincerely and focus on clearing doubts within the classes. At LSR, the year is divided into 2 semesters. We have end semester exams in December and June. For courses like Psychology and Statistics, Practical exams are also held prior to the theory ones. In between the end semester exams, we give Internal assessments and assignments. This college is relatively strict on Attendance. Most faculty has very good reviews. Speaking specifically of the Statistics Department, which is like a damily in itself. The teachers are very considerate and come to know you on a personal level. They give you suggestions and advices related to anything and everything.

Campus Life

LSR's vibrant campus life includes the Diwali Mela, Noor held in October and Annual Fest, Tarang held in March. The infrastructure of LSR gives elite DU vibes with 2 lawns, the red brick wall aesthetic, 2 libraries, book shop, printer shop, Nescafe, Canteen, Mother dairy, Amphitheater and three vast buildings. A separate area for sports including Tennis court, Basketball court and gym. We have a top performing NSO Team. There are more than 50 societies at LSR. From NSS, NCC, Enactus, IFSA to the North-East Cell, LSR is very accommodative of all types of students. The classrooms are very student friendly with comfortable furniture, smart boards to Labs with latest computers.

Course Curriculum Overview

Since statistics is a very demanded subject everywhere right now, it made me opt for this course. This course doesnt actually help in getting jobs though. Its very tough to get a job just with this degree. The course could include more of the modern day needs like ai, data science and more. The frequency of exam is 2 in 4 months. Its hard to cover all in 4 months

Fees and Financial Aid

The yearly fees is 7500, excluding exam fee or others. Tution fee is 7500, registration fee is 250. Scholarships are available for SC/ST/OBC quota. And an aid of rs 5000 is availabile for 1st and 2nd position holder of TDC result

ONE of the best campus life. We have MELLIU,ISPAST,ICON etc big festival every year. Beside that we have clubs for cricket, football, chess, carrom, batminton and many more you could think of. Our campus have 2 libaries (cental and science) with all the neccesary books . And college is actively involbes in politics(though you can stay away if you wish to, no forceful act ).

Faculty

The teacher student ration is near about 1:7. Proffersors are very very helpful and easy to recah. We genarally have mid semester(bit difficult sometimes) and end semester(easy overall) examination in a semester. I would like to mention prof.SD for his excillent teaching and bonding with students. We can cosider him as the best faculty we have.

February was the month when our annual fest Aarohana happened. A 7 acre campus with two blocks and a great library and a seminar hall is all that we had. Sad that we couldnt aplly more into sports as we dont have a basketball court. Besides that though there isnt much we csn complain about. So, i would complimet our small little campus as we are small world but well equipped.

Fees and Financial Aid

PGDAV Morning College of DU is among one of the best colleges. For my course which is BSC Statistics (Hons), just 16 college's of DU has this course. Fees for each of them is more or less the same. Yes, its around 15000 a year and total cost of education would be around 60000. Inspire and Lowkey are among two of the scholarships that are provided to students of our college.

Fees and Financial Aid

BSC Statistics is a rare commodity though many colleges tend to offer these days but none close to KMC for that matter. Its the 7th ranked college of DU and fees for our course is 15000. The breakup of it is 13000 as tuition fees and then 500 for library and 500 for Id card. 1000 is tax or so and therefor every upper cast student has to pay this much. On the other hand, SC/ST students are incentivized through scholarhsips making their fees almost nil.

Campus Life

Our college is quite big and is among the colleges that has its own hostel. Sports facilities includes basketball courts, tennis courts, and cricket field too. Lounge like college cafe and chill zones too. Societies are endless here as fashion to placements in-between what all is there for college life, we have it all here. Fest Renaissance is scheduled in April and artists who will be performing will be finalized soon.

Faculty

The faculty at KMC are not only highly qualified but also have a wide wealth of experience ranging from 5-30 years. They're very approachable and supportive, always ready to assist students with both academic as well as personal challenges. The internal examinations include about 60% of the syllabus which is quite manageable and easy to pass. The end sem exams are pretty straightforward, and can be cleared without much difficulty.

Internships Opportunities

Students are eligible to sit for internships from their first year of college. Various companies like Accenture, DE Shaw, Amazon, Acclime, Zomato, etc visit for internship opportunities with a chance to convert into PPO. Various companies offer various roles for students to apply. If you wanna go into sales, product management, HR, Data science there's opportunities for everyone.

Faculty to student ratio is pretty decent and they are approachable they aree good and experienced enough in their respective fields I personally don't know much about faculty but the professors who gave lectures to us where good I dont dislike any of them coz i didn't experienced any thing such There are 2 sessionals and a semester they level of the papers are medium If anyone scores good in sessionals then the chances of failing for them is deniable But the students who took maths as major or minor they struggle to pass

Fees and Financial Aid

I'm telling about my course specifically The total fee range of bsc has shown to be 36000 but as I'm completing my 1st year I had paid 10000 apx at the time of admission Talking about the scholarship There are many scholarships like General merit (?250/month), aid to student, mohammad naim khan memorial and mustafa rasheed sherwani memorial scholarship.

Faculty

• The student-fo-faculty ratio was good. It was around 25:1 and the relationship was good between the faculties and students • The faculties I liked from my statistics department are Prof. Surupa Chakroborty, Prof. Surabhi Dasgupta (Ma'am)(who was my project guide in my final year), Prof. Debjit Sengupta, Prof. Ayan Chandra, Prof. Madhura Dasgupta and others Every one of them was very thorough in their teachings and helped us a lot if there were any problems academically and recommended us how to solve those • In my 3 year UG course, there were 6 semesters and the number of exams in a semester varied on the number of topics that was being taught in that semester. • Difficulty wise, the exams used to be medium to hard depending on the topics and on how topics were taught throughout the semester • Almost 90% of the students used to clear out the exams.

Our college has a gurudwara and it also conducts Bani kirtan every year. Fests are held but not so highly recommended. Ethnic days freshers farewell job fairs etc are held often. The library of our college is big and well maintained. Books are in good conditions and mostly available. The classroom facilities are not so good not clean most of the times. No smart boards only few rooms with projector. NCC and NSS are very active in the college but since im not into sports and our ground is also not inside the college and too well maintained i dont know much about the sports in the college. The other activities are also not so much encouraged.

Faculty

Talking about the statistics faculty it is quite good. The overall faculty and staff cannot be judged by me. Statistics department does not have many students nor multiple sections so student to teacher ratio is also good. There are exams which are mid sem and end sem so every sem has 2 exams. Students can give their ER exam in alternate semester like if you failed in 1st sem yoj can give retest in 3rd sem.

Fees and Financial Aid

Firstly admission fee is taken as 1000 then the yearly fee 2 semester exam fee is taken as 50000 there is no scholarship nor there is any intership or placements going on in the college campus. College ambience is good but the faculty is not that great they are average . College should take care of the placements and intership on campus and also course study should be more oriented towards practical scenarios.

Faculty

Faculty ratio is about 1:4 ,teachers are overall good just that the practical knowledge is missing and only calculations is there no introduction prior given properly ,40%fails 20% just pass 35% average 5% topper scoring good marks , there are 4 exm in a year, two semesters are there,so 2 mid sems and 2 end sem , mis sem 20 marks end sem 70 marks ,10 marks for attendance.

Fees and Financial Aid

For the first year students the fees of the department of our college is 7000 rupees and its varies department wise, also all departments other than some of the private ones (computer science, mass communication,...) does not have free admission scheme. Free admission is only applicable to those whose family income is less than 400000 whatever be its caste.

Faculty

The faculty to student ratio is decent, our college takes one internal exam between a semester, the level of the question paper is not that much hard, all the questions set on it comes from topics done in the classes by the teacher. All of the faculties are good in nature and give efforts to all of the students.

Faculty

For stats we have 3 professors for 3 core subjects that includes introduction to probability, descriptive statistics and calculus. Other than this one for EVS , one for digital empowerment ( vac) , one for economics ( minor) and one for basic IT tools ( sec). Tbh I lovee all of my professors but tbh I don't like calculus and thus it very hectic and tough to understand what sakshi mam teaches????.... LSR also follows same structure of du , end sem based but we also have practicals for core subjects and in between we also have tests. About the relevance stats I feel is getting the boom now in india because of data scientist, analyst and the placements of stats are very good!

Course Curriculum Overview

I feel the curriculum is mostly based on theoretical not on practical aspects of statistics till now! So I feel that needs to be improved for sure. For practical aspects do case studies, learn sql, python for data analyst apart from college. Exams are not tough but not that easy too just study previous year questions and watch videos on youtube about the topics coming in exam.

Ques. What is the future of B.Math and B.Stat students in ISI, Kolkata?

● Top Answer By Praniti Das on 28 Sept 21

Ans. ISI Kolkata does not provide a B.Math program. The majority of B.Stat students return for M.Stat while some people join CMI, TIFR, IIM, and other such organizations.  M.Stat employees earn an average of 16–17 LPA, and many of them attend prestigious US graduate institutions. There are no fees for the entire program, and a stipend is provided. So, if you're looking for a career here, your future is bright.Read more

Ques. Is it safe to join a B.Stat at ISI Kolkata (I'm a non-Bengali student)?

● Top Answer By Natasha Kaur on 22 Sept 21

Ans. Kolkata is one of India's safest cities. This city attracts visitors from all over India and the world. That's why it's known as the "City of Joy." Bengalis are extremely friendly.  ISI Kolkata is known to have the most sought-after institute in Statistical expertise. It has one of the best faculty members in India. Out of which, 30 professors were published in Standford University. Moreover, you have got a seat in B.Stat which is considered one of the toughest examinations for Mathematics in Asia. You should base your judgement on the basis of a stereotype as letting go of this opportunity will be a wrong decision. Almost 50% of the batch consists of Non-Bengalis here at ISI Kolkata. There is no need to worry as the institute also has a rigid anti-ragging policy.Read more

Ques. Which university will be best for statistics University of Allahabad or University of Lucknow?

● Top Answer By Reshmi Sen, on 08 Nov 21

Ans. Both University of Allahabad and University of Lucknow are good in their own ways. They also consist of their fair share of flaws. Here’s mentioning some facts about both these colleges I got to know online: The faculty of both colleges are really good. They are highly experienced and extremely cooperative.  Subjects like statistics, geology, zoology, astronomy are considered good by students at University of Lucknow. Both have a strong alumni network. Many consider Allahabad University better than Lucknow University due to its central status. But after considering everything, you need to keep one thing in mind that the institution is not the major factor for your success. It is your dedication and hard work that will help you reach your goal.Read more

Ques. What is the cutoff for a B Stat at Asutosh College Kolkata?

● Top Answer By Senjuti Roy on 25 Oct 21

Ans. The required prerequisite for doing a B.Stat at Asutose College is 50% in the 12th standard. Having Statistics/Mathematics in your 10+2 is mandatory. Students who have passed the 10+2 or equivalent examination and have also passed the English test with full marks of not less than 100 are eligible to apply. If you have a lapse of more than 3 years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination or the cessation of a recognized regular Course of Study after passing the previous qualifying test, then you are not eligible to apply. To determine eligibility for admission to the Honors Course, add the marks in the top four subjects. Marks obtained in mandatory Environmental Education/Studies, on the other hand, will not be factored into the final grade. You must have a minimum of 50% in aggregate and pass Mathematics. Students from the SC/ST or OBC categories need to have a minimum of 40% in the previous qualifying examination.Read more

Ques. Is Asutosh college good for statistics honours?

● Top Answer By Saunak Guha on 19 Oct 21

Ans. I have a few friends from the Statistics department. Based on the things I heard from them, I will say the department is quite great. Professors are well-qualified, strict and they never miss any scheduled class. Attendance is taken seriously in the department. You won’t be able to slack off. You also have to study seriously for the tests. Because if you fail in sectionals, you won’t be able to sit for finals. Read more

Ques. Which branch is better, IIT Kanpur statistics and data science (B.Sc) or IIT Dhanbad CSE?

● Top Answer By Akriti Banerjee on 12 Oct 23

Ans. Both the courses are good.  However, with the advancement of technologies like AI and ML, and one’s increasing dependency upon them, Data Science has become a field with immense potential.  Data Science has a lot of future scope, and its demand will only increase with time. This field requires a good understanding of Statistics, Mathematics, and Computer Science (Especially Python Language).  BSc. in Data Science is an even better option than CSE at present. Moreover, college-wise, IIT Kanpur is way ahead of IIT Dhanbad.  Therefore I would recommend you choose BSc. Statistics and Data Science at IIT Kanpur over CSE at IIT Dhanbad. Read more

Ques. How is SVKM's NMIMS Science department, specifically a B.Sc in applied statistics and analytics?

● Top Answer By Shivangi Khatana on 18 Jun 21

Ans. One of my friends is currently doing her Bachelor's in Science, specifically in Applied Science and Statistics from NMIMS- Kharghar campus. She has given me some input which I will be sharing with you. Frankly, everything so far has been excellent for her. She appreciates the syllabus and all that's taught. The syllabus covers all that one needs to know about Data Science and its basics. My friend is about to get into the 3rd semester after this Corona wave is over. The basics that were covered in first year were: Mathematics - Calculus Statistics - Descriptive Probability and Distribution Economics - Micro and Macro For coding, she had: " C " language, DBMS, " R ", SPSS, SCILAB and Python (from the second year of syllabus) Actuarial Science and additional projects were added by the time she had reached her second year. You are seen as more experienced when you begin studying Actuarial Science. It is sufficient to cover all your basics that concern Data Science. Along with a brilliant syllabus arrives a pretty hectic schedule. There are regular exams wherein you will only get a week for preparation. Not only this but there are presentations, assignments and projects to cover and submit before the deadline. It is going to be a thrilling experience as all the knowledge and information will help you understand how to perform well under any circumstances with perfection.Read more

Ques. What are some reasons to not choose B.Stat at ISI Kolkata?

● Top Answer By Soutrik Banerjee on 22 Aug 22

Ans. Life at ISI Kolkata isn’t similar to that of other typical colleges, where you can bunk classes, mug up concepts right before the examination, and score passing grades. It maintains a high standard of academics. The curriculum and course work is extremely grueling. Many students find it difficult to even score passing marks in some courses. ISI doesn’t give any option to retake a course. Many students take admission at ISI for the free-of-cost world-class education, it offers. This is not a good motivation for choosing the institute. Choose ISI Kolkata B.Stat, only if you are interested in the course. Read more

Ques. Is it wise to prepare for the ISI Kolkata B.Stat entrance exam instead of IIT?

● Top Answer By Shrayanshi Roy on 15 Sept 21

Ans. Taking a course at IIT is just as difficult and demanding as pursuing a B.Stat course at ISI. They are whatever you choose to do with your life, whether you like mathematics/statistics enough to spend three years learning statistics (and a little math) and statistics solely at ISI, or you believe you are skilled in another subject that has a good course at one of the numerous IITs. It depends totally on where you want to be. Furthermore, even if you prepare for college X, there is no guarantee that you will be accepted. As a result, keeping colleges Y and Z in mind as a backup is always a good idea. Only you can decide which option is preferable for you and what you want. Read more
