PMCA B.Arch FAQs
Ques. Does PMCA accept NATA scores directly for B.Arch admission, or is OJEE mandatory?
Ans. For B.Arch admission at PMCA, candidates need a valid JEE Main Paper 2A or NATA score. However, the actual seat allotment in Odisha private colleges like PMCA is done through OJEE web-based counselling. So while NATA/JEE Main score is the qualifying criterion, participation in OJEE counselling is mandatory to get a seat at PMCA. Candidates should register for OJEE counselling separately after obtaining their NATA or JEE Main Paper 2 score.
Ques. What is the actual per-semester fee at PMCA, and are there any hidden charges?
Ans. The per-semester fee at PMCA is approximately Rs. 55,000, which remains consistent across all 10 semesters of the 5-year B.Arch programme. The total course fee comes to approximately Rs. 5.5 to 5.7 Lakhs. Students have reported that the fee structure is transparent and government-regulated. Hostel fees (Rs. 16,000 to 26,000 per semester depending on AC/non-AC) are charged separately and are optional.
Ques. Is the hostel at PMCA on-campus or off-campus, and what facilities are provided?
Ans. PMCA's hostel is partially off-campus (rented buildings managed by the college) and partially on-campus. The hostel provides both AC and non-AC room options, with 2-3 students per room. Facilities include beds, cupboards, study tables, water purifiers, washing machines, and three meals per day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). Hostel registration is done at the time of admission itself by indicating preference in the admission form.
Ques. How is the placement scenario for B.Arch graduates from PMCA?
Ans. PMCA does not have a highly structured campus placement drive like engineering colleges, which is typical for most architecture colleges in India. However, students do get internship and job opportunities through faculty networks, alumni connections, and self-driven efforts. Graduates from PMCA have gone on to work with architecture firms in Odisha, Kolkata, and other cities, or have pursued higher studies (M.Arch) through GATE/PGETA. Students are advised to build a strong portfolio during their 5 years, as that is the primary tool for job placement in architecture.
Ques. What is the difference between applying through JEE Main Paper 2 and NATA for PMCA admission? Which is better?
Ans. Both JEE Main Paper 2A and NATA are accepted for B.Arch admission at PMCA through OJEE counselling. JEE Main Paper 2 is conducted by NTA and is a national-level exam, while NATA is conducted by the Council of Architecture and can be attempted multiple times (every Friday/Saturday during the exam window). For Odisha state quota seats, OJEE counselling uses both scores. Students who are strong in Mathematics and aptitude may find JEE Main Paper 2 more suitable, while those who want multiple attempts and flexibility may prefer NATA 2026.
Ques. Is PMCA affiliated to a university, and does the B.Arch degree have national recognition?
Ans. Yes, PMCA is affiliated to Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT), Odisha, and is approved by the Council of Architecture (COA), New Delhi. The B.Arch degree awarded by PMCA is nationally recognised and allows graduates to register with the COA as architects after completing the mandatory internship (practical training) period. The COA recognition is the most important credential for an architecture college in India, and PMCA holds this approval.
