Likes

Scholarships like nsp etc are provided to students by applying to respective forms and staff is helpful.
The helpful faculty of the college which provide the students with valuable information and inside into the academic knowledge needed to succeed in life . the understanding of the teachers towards the students.
Placement cell is very supportive and number of companies they have manage to bring to the table is great.

Dislikes

The teachers teach well, but due to low strictness levels and no discipline there is high irregularity of attendance and students don't attend classes properly.
Faculty is little bit not so qualified. but they are so much arrogant.
The faculty to student ratio is approximately 1:60 in core subjects and it goes slightly lower for the electives.

A Worthwhile DU Experience

Likes

The faculty of Engli8sh department is very supportive, experienced as well as very approachable. Their teaching style is something i liked very much, the discussion session, critical thinking and deep analysis helped me alot.
Campus is another aspect which makes your college life amazing and no doubt this college is quite vibrant and active. The societies for literature, dance and drama; Regular events, fests and seminars giving students chance to explore.
The major advantage is location of the college since it is right next to the JLN Stadium Delhi Metro station. The library is spacious, decent classrooms and greenery all around specially the "Rose Garden" in the college, famous student spot.

Dislikes

Some washrooms need better cleanliness and regular maintenance although the college had started working on it and to improve hygiene and sanitation.
The infrastructure in a few older blocks feels outdated but the renovation work had started. Better ventilation and seating is also being worked on.
Placement in humanities section is limited, while internships are available and more companies are to be invited in the campus.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is the strongest point of the course. It covers wide range of literary genre, periods and theories. The syllabus includes British literature, European literature etc. It is very relevant for students who want to pursue careers in content writing, media, teaching, journalism etc. Exam are held at the end of each semester, with internals like assignments and presentations in between. The difficulty level is moderate as long as you study and attwnt classes regularly. The timings are manageable with fair markings.

An overview on the DSC experience

Likes

The campus is huge and has a lot of greenery which is a plus.
There are people from diverse backgrounds which is a great thing and leads to meaningful interactions whether in class or otherwise.
The course is structured and organised in a way that targets critical thinking and awareness.

Dislikes

There could be better cleanliness in the women's washroom and availability of sanitary napkins.
There is no photocopy shop inside the campus which is problematic

Placement Experience:

For the third year students, there are placement opportunities and internships can be done by second years too. It is mainly for technical courses but companies like Wipro and TCS also come. The average package is around five lakhs.

Dyal Singh College is splendid!

Likes

The campus of Dyal Singh College always inject fresh energy into students .
I am in my first year and selection in the societies was purely on merit and not poltics.
In selection politics might not have taken a role but in Dyal Singh College Political debates are always on.

Dislikes

It's the campus infrastructure as aot of restoration is required.
Sone local students literally threatened during upcoming Delhi elections to vote for them.
Protests are a regular feature at DSC campus as any national issue happens and students of DSC will start protesting.

Dyal Singh Placements aren't that hefty that I can boast a lot about them. Since I have already mentioned in previous section that I want the deepest knowledge of political science and the only way, one can gain that is by doing masters. Coming to DSC placements over 30% students of Political Science from our college are placed via campus.

DSC is a decent college!

Likes

Our college's basketball court is one of the best and our college basket ball team has done well too over the years.
College's Amphitheatre is also one of the best in DU.
College has research facilities in its campus and faculties and students both are involved in researches here.

Dislikes

DSC is not a Tier-1 College of DU as placements are little slim than top DU Colleges.
Infrastructure needs a serious look as it is power and probably we are one of those who still faces power cuts.
Boys and Girls Ratio is also not so fair as boys are in majority and constitute of 70% of the total crowd.

Placement Experience:

DSC placements are not that great as around 30-40% students are placed and that is how it is here. Most students of Political Science go for higher studies or get job opportunities in political consultancy or journalism.

Life at dyal singh college

I like the infrastructure of the campus and building
The staff of the collage is very nich and respectful
The environment of the classes is very good

I will rate my course a descent course because some times teachers don't teach very well they take leave and many more things happen in that course but overall the course was good and the course was good you can get the chance of placement.

The Life in Dyal Singh College

Likes

Teachers are so supportive in studies and also other than studies. They are also highly educated from respective college Delhi School of Economics
Fest and cultural activities are so good.
Crowd of college is so good like 4:6 is girls boys ratio

Dislikes

Infrastructure of buildings are not so good.
Drinking water is available but at some places.
Their are so fighting issue between political parties in college.

Placement Experience:

The students whose CGPA is more or equal to 7.5 then they are eligible for campus placements. The companies which comes to visit like Zomato, Wipro etc. The highest package is 32 lakh per annum and average is 5 lakh per annum. The percentage of getting placement is very low.

Overall experience as a first year student in Dyal singh College, Geography department.

Likes

I like the infrastructure of the college which is really attractive.
My college life is pretty good, seniors and professors are really communicative.
As a first year student and being enrolled in Geography the faculty to student ratio is 1:80 . The faculty is nice and polite and very approachable.The geography department faculty is great with teachers being experts in their field.

Dislikes

I think they shouldn't have used the toilet tiles on the building.

As a student of geography department of Dyal singh college, to be honest i do t regret taking admission in this college because the geographical department of our college is one of the best and the oldest in the Universal of Delhi, i opted for geography because i got 99/100 in geography in 12th standard and i also have interest in this subject, studying geography is such a wonderful experience for me, I think they should improve the methods to teach students like using more digital media and 3D diagrams for teaching concepts of physical geography otherwise its all good, the exam are not that difficult if you will study throughout the semester you will pass the exam easily.

In the view : dyal singh college

Likes

One of the things that i like about my college is its location as it is adjacent to thr nia building and there is a lot armed forces around our college which makes it a crime free place
The campus in itself is very nice the facilities are top notch
The overall college experience is also very fun the sports and college society are really engaging and fun

Dislikes

Lack of air conditioners in the summer it gets really hot
Poor canteen facilities its very often that you can see videos being shared of the poor quality and very unhygienic college canteen
Gates of college can be closed randomly and the security guards are very rude and impolite

My course is ba entrepreneurship and small business + history which is a very new course being introduced a year before i enrolled its a very interesting subject it covers all topics related to business and the way our course is designed is that each student has to choose a major and minor in my case entrepreneurship is my major and history is minor

LIFE AT DSC. DU

Likes

I love the college campus, the societies and the crowd.
DSC offers a varied range of subjects, the popular ones are Economics, Political, English
The college location and proximity to metro is very near

Dislikes

The canteen can do better, the food is okayish
The annual event is not something that I like
The attendance maintainance is very hard

Economics honors can be tiring sometimes because you need to study a lot for it, but at the end it is all worth it because the course provides you knowledge which is specialized and also job opportunities

Dyal singh college to apply or not

As per the things said before entering the college that it's famous for fights but in contrast in our batch its very less the college area is very good and environment is also good
College area, gardens and playgrounds in college are good and infrastructure of college is average instead the evening building is good
If you join college for extra curricular activities then do join societies, the dance theatre photography faishon and art societies are so active

Dislikes

Classes getting cancelled as a ever happening thing in du classes get cancel on often basis and you are left with doing nothing
Administration of our college is bit slow but it can work
