Review of Mcom life DU

Likes

Library is Nice it have good infrastructure.
Library have computer lab which have high specifications PC.
College is in the heart of North Campus.

Dislikes

Building is generally under construction for our batch.
canteen infrastructure is not so good to feel.
Have less companies for placements of students.

Admission:

I applied do DU pg portal and I got my first preference as Department of commerce. Which is inside Delhi school of Economics. In DU Post graduation classes are held in Department for all students irrespective of the college the got in merit. Cuet pg is exam which should be given to enter in this college. And it's merit DU allotes the college's.

Campus and Infrastructure :The college is not so large but it is cool. Infrastructure is outstanding lecture theatre, library and computer lab are well developed. Other common Infrastructure are Well developed.
Academics and faculty : Academically DSE is best specially in Economics and Commerce,It provides opportunity in every field.The college has a large number of faculty member,and their teaching standards are outstanding and highly commendable.
Placement :DSE is well known for its placement in Economics and commerce. Students got campus placement every year at corporates and government institutions.

Dislikes

DSE has no its own hostel facility so it ia very expensive to stay in Delhi.There are some hostels of university where no all students get seat.

Otherthan DSE I applied in top central universities like JNU, HCU and BHU. I got selected in HCU and BHU but I choosed DSE over these beacuse it is a prestigious institutions in India and it provides huge opportunities in corporates,higher studies, research and in government institutions. Admission is through CUET entrance exam which is conducted ny NTA every year in March or April. Eligibility criteria is you must have Bachelor degree and Mathematics in 12th or in UG. Cutoff is very high, it's more than 230 out of 300 for general and less tha 230 for other catagory. Admission process is flexible.

DSE one of the best econ college

Likes

Faculty is extremely welcoming and helpful they clear your doubts and are available even if you just wish to talk. You could visit them in office hours or communicate through email whichever you prefer.
Food is hygienic and tasty. Also the food quality is better than what is available outside.
Students are very open and helpful almost everyone has groups since you need to do group studies as the course is pretty mathematical and time taking

Dislikes

Course is extremely hectic but it helps to build patience and makes you to work hard
Air condition is extremely strong and it often gets freezy so have to bring jackets while in class room

Dse is more mathematical than courses provided in GIPE JNU etc . Its teacher student ratio is very low particularly due to large intake of students which is a significant con given other college where students are generally 40-50 max. Dse also offers both placement and study abroad. Recently a student got into havard. Although ISI delhi is at par interms of providing study opportunities abroad

The course fee is very affordable. There is no need of taking loans like IIMs which stand as high as 25 lakhs
As the fees is very low, ROI factor comes in. The average package for the year 2024 was 14.9 lpa which is even higher than half of IIMS.
The college is student driven. Everything starting from placements,events, festivals and even various courses for upskilling

Dislikes

The infrastructure is not that good. It is being improved right now. May be in few months we will have more space and bigger rooms.
Seats at hostels are very very less, so the accomodation cost will be comparatively double the fees we pay.
There are no playgrounds of our own, so in order to play any kind of sports we need to book grounds at far off places.

Admission:

The main reason for choosing this college was because I was interested for a career in HR and with my CAT score, this was the best college I could get. And one of the relief with this college is the low fee structure, there is no pressure of high loans and provides high ROI.

Delhi as a location delhi is the centre for everything
Students driven college students takes the best for themselves

Campus is small compared to other b schools
Gender diversity is low compared to other b schools
Faculty is old, need to be restructured on a basis

First of all the return of investment of dse is very high that's one of the reason I chose dse also dse doesn't give weightage to work experience so since I'm a fresher it helped to secure an admission in dse

If you don’t want to shoulder a big loan and struggle,come to DSE

Likes

Campus is fully student driven which gives us various opportunites to improve ourselves
Great faculty members with years of expertise and Ac classrooms.
We get a lot of free time to do other things than lectures

Dislikes

Girls to boys ratio is bad, In HRD it is like 13:67,while in IB this goes to 7:73
Now construction is going on ,so less space in the campus
Mandatory Attendence ,which is bad and doesn’t give us chance to do internships

I got interview call from CAP colleges and IIM kozhikkode pgplsm but couldn't convert because of my lack of expertise in interviews and GDs.But here they only cared about my marks from graduation ,10th and 12th plus cat percentile. Also here we have pretty good placements if we compare with baby IIMs where we pay 10 times the money

MBA-HRD at DSE

The first thing which is USP of MBA program of DSE is, it is a student run campus where student get opportunity to gain hands on experience on management.
If we are talking about DSE we can't ignore ROI factor which we get that is one of the best in India
The vibrant Delhi University north campus, where we get to interact with students from diverse background.

Dislikes

Particular if we talk about Department of Commerce, Department need rennovation in its infrastructure
Curriculam should be updated and more real life case study should be included in the classes

Admission:

If you want to take admission in DSE MBA program you need to appear for CAT exam and for getting admission you need to secure 94+ percentile for being in safe side. 1st counselling take place in month April, 2nd in month of July and 3rd in month of August. There should not be that much gap in 1st and 2nd counselling, it leads to mental pressure on student who is got waitlisted in 1st counselling and there in maximum withdrawal from 1st counselling admission .

Learning HRD the right way at DSE

Likes

The ROI is the best part of the college, even though the fees has increased from the last time significantly. The ROI is still one of the best in India
Being in the DSE campus, you get to interact with a lot of people from different streams.
Placements are pretty good, almost whole of the batch gets placed.

Dislikes

Poor management from the Dean of college.
College is student driven, lacks help from the faculties in organizing events.
Curriculum is more theoratical and less practical. Very outdated syllabus.

Admission:

One needs to take CAT to get admission in DSE, we have three courses here MBA-HRD, MBA-IB, MBA-BA. The cutoff for IB goes the highest. For general category it closes around 96-97. For HRD it can range from 94-95 and for BA it goes for somewhere between 91-93. I was also a general category student I had scored 95.66 in CAT and I got admission in the second counselling here. There is usually three rounds of counselling here. The process is pretty simple. They only consider CAT score, 12th marks and 10th marks. Also, there is no GD-PI here as part of admission process. In DSE there is assessment throughout semester but proper exams we only have once at the end that has a weightage of 70%. My only suggestion for the admission process here would be to include GD-PI as part of the process as it would greatly impact the quality of the batch.

Why should you choose dse over other b schools?

Likes

low fees is one of the best thing that dse offers.
The legacy of Delhi University and it's widely recognised name .
The flexibility of being a day scholar you are free to do anything beyond college.

Dislikes

Old infrastructure and lack of proper space is a concern.
Lack of Industry visit and practical learning.
Not conducting Gdpi round is a concerning thing for overall batch profile.

Admission:

So first of all you will need to appear for cat exam . The eligibility criteria is quite simple you must be a graduate from a recognised university. So generally dse forms open up in the month of December-January one can visit the official site and fill the form . The admission process is quite simple there's no gdpi round selection is purely based on cat and 10th-12th marks . The reservation criteria is similar to UGC norms . Dse can add gdpi round to their admission.process that's the only lacking thing I can remember.

Delhi School of Economics (DSE) is one of the most reputed colleges in India affiliated to the University Of Delhi. DSE offers a variety of courses including Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Master of Arts (M .A.), Master of Commerce (M .Com), Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.), and Ph.D. in numerous subjects including Economics, Sociology, and Geography.

There are two-degree level professional MBA courses are offered by the Department of Commerce:

MBA in International Business (MIB)
MBA in Human Resource Development and Organizational Development (MHROD)

There are 81 seats available in this college for the above courses. The admission is done on the basis of the percentile obtained by the student in the CAT exam. The minimum cutoff for admission in the MBA course at DSE remains around above 90 percentile and there is no sectional cut-off. The selection is not done entirely on the basis of the CAT score. There are various other factors that are considered during selection such as:-
