Ans. Yes, you can get IEM Kolkata with a rank of 6k. In 2021, the closing cutoff for the IT branch was 2483-8457.  IEM Kolkata is an average college. The academics and facilities offered aren’t good for IT. Alumni of the institute who are well-established in the IT sector received the opportunities based on their talent and expertise. If you have other better options, you should choose them over IEM.  As per the recent placement highlights, IEM Kolkata average CTC was INR 5-6 LPA. While the highest CTC offered to the student of this branch was INR 42 LPA. Read more

Ans. A friend of mine did her BTech from IEM Kolkata and now she is working as a Cyber Security Analyst in a big firm. Here are a few things that she experienced in her duration at the college.  Unnecessary Rules: Students often complain about the unnecessary discipline enforced by the college to attend all of the lectures and seminars irrespective of their choice and usefulness. Faculty: In terms of faculty, there is a mix of average and good professors. But most of the good professors are moving to different colleges.  Placements: In the terms of placement, the data may show it as amazing but in reality, most of the students of IEM end up in mass recruiting jobs offered by any IT company. Only a few of the students end up in good companies.  If you are choosing IEM try to make the most of it. Other than college learning, try and take up some extra courses such as coding or hacking and security, it will help a lot. There are a handful of helpful faculties at IEM. Interacting and working with those professors will help a lot in going good places. Learn to utilize their time and learn new things. Learn something new and read as much as possible. If you are not happy with campus placements then you should look for off-campus placements as well.Read more

Ans. IEM Kolkatais known for its great placements. The Computer Science and Engineering department is one of the oldest departments in the Institute of Engineering and Management. Every year around 150 students in B.Tech (CSE) and 18 students in M.Tech (CSE) get admitted to the department. The college attracts very brilliant students because of the department reputation as well as the excellent placement records. IEM Kolkata B.Tech (C.S.E) provides around 95% Placements in 2020, with the highest salary packages 22 lacks, and lowest packages with 4 lakhs. For CSE, renowned companies such as TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Capgemini, IBM, Tech Mahindra, and so on come for picking up some talents. TCS, Wipro, and Infosys are the mass recruiters on the campus. The Placement Cell of the Institute of IEM, Kolkata has set a standard for its placement by providing a minimum one offer to each and every student who has taken admission in IEM, Kolkata. Placement starts from the month of August and usually continues throughout the year until May. In IEM, placement for CSE is almost 100% in 2019. The lowest package offered is around 3.6 LPA while the average package will be around 5-6 lakhs per annum. And the highest will be about 18 lakhs per annum. TCS comes for placement and offers around 8 LPA to 25-30 students. In 2017 the average package is around 3.85 lakhs, and the highest package is around 15.5 lakhs. Overall the IEM gives good average placement in CSE. IEM placed an average of 97% of students in the last three years, with good salary packages.Read more

Ans. IEM Kolkata is a reputed technical college in the region. But given a choice, you should take Civil/IT at Jadavpur University. JU ranks among the top engineering colleges in the country. It is well ahead of IEM, in terms of placement and opportunities.  Many core companies visit JU to recruit Civil Engineering students. The IT placement is excellent. Companies such as Microsoft, Google, etc. take part in Jadavpur University placements. During the 2022 placement drive, Facebook offered the highest CTC of INR 1.8 Crore per annum. Ques. Should I take CSE in KIIT or IEM, Kolkata?

Ans. I have a friend who scored a rank of 1536 in KIITEE and chose CSE in KIIT while another who got a rank of 4158 in WBJEE and went got IEM ECE. What I mean is that the institute does not matter but it’s your capability and skills that determine your success rate. I find judging colleges based on placements very silly.  So, if your ultimate goal is BTech only then take any one between IEM and KIIT depending on your financial background but if you are planning to pursue higher education, IEM will help you save money that can later be used for higher studies. Read more

Ans. Mechanical engineering is not good in PSIT Kanpur. You will regret your decision of taking admission there. Following are the reasons why you should not join PSIT Kanpur PSIT Kanpur has very strict rules and regulations and parents have to pay a fine for everything. 90% attendance is compulsory, CCTV cameras are installed inside all the classrooms.  You cannot even sit and study in the library if you have some boring lectures going on.  You will not gain any knowledge even after spending 4 precious years. PSIT Kanpur lacks a competitive environment for GATE, CAT, etc. If a student wishes to prepare for any competition exam, the college rules are so strict that there will be no time left for your preparation Here’s presenting some facts about Mechanical Engineering at PSIT Kanpur - Categories Mechanical Engineering at PSIT Kanpur Course Fee 5.60 lakh Placement Percentage 80-85% Highest CTC 8-10 LPA Average CTC 3.7-4 LPA Recruiting Companies TCS, Infosys, Wipro. One of my friends qualified GATE with a respectable score that will lead him to do masters from IIT Bombay but believe me PSIT has no role in this. Ans. In my opinion, IMS Ghaziabad is a much better option than PSIT Kanpur mainly because of its NCR location. When choosing a college, a factor of utmost importance is where the college is situated because your location will impact your college life largely. Opting for a college situated in NCR is a boon as it will give you a lot of exposure to activities and education in general. You get more exposure to industries and startups and thus getting internships is a lot easier. One more advantage is that you can avail many good coaching facilities in the NCR location which may not be possible in a city like Kanpur.  The campus life is less strict at IMS Ghaziabad than at PSIT and there are no strict attendance rules. The fees and value of a degree are almost similar in both colleges but you can enjoy your life much better at NCR colleges. I am strongly against you joining PSIT Kanpur because Not a good location Unnecessary struck rules related to attendance  You have to be stuck 9-5 completing unnecessary assignments which have no real importance  Not a good college to enjoy life and hang out No coding culture in PSIT  Despite it all, PSIT Kanpur has a 100% placement percentage and will help you get places in CS. Ans. If you have a GATE Scorecard, you will be able to secure a place on the PSIT for mechanical engineering. This is because of the availability of the one Interview Round. But try applying online or calling them for any opening if you are a graduate. They will inform you and organize an interview if they find you relevant. Whether you will be appointed as a faculty or laboratory assistant according to your qualification. You will continue to work for approximately 2 years as Lab Assistant. In terms of actual placement at the campus, top recruitment firms like Infosys, Capgemini, TCS, Tech Mahindra, and Wipro visit the campus. Students are given leading jobs such as assistant system engineer, software developer, and business analyst. The top salary package provided is 26 LPA and the lowest pay package is 3 LPA. The average package available is 3.6 LPA. In order to better understand the concept, PSIT offers E-classrooms, laboratories, workshops, and training.
