The Re-NEET UG 2026 result is expected to be declared by the National Testing Agency (NTA) by July 20, 2026 at neet.nta.nic.in. Once the scorecard is released, candidates should immediately download it and begin preparing for the NEET UG 2026 counselling process.

After the result is announced, qualified candidates will need to register separately for the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) counselling for the 15% All India Quota (AIQ), AIIMS, JIPMER, ESIC, AFMS, and other central/deemed universities. The remaining 85% State Quota counselling will be conducted by the respective state counselling authorities through their own portals.

  • Download your scorecard and verify your AIR, category rank, percentile, and qualifying status once released.
  • You need to keep your NEET 2026 scorecard, admit card, Class 10 & 12 marksheets, valid photo ID, passport-size photographs, and category/PwD certificate (if applicable) ready for counselling.
  • Candidates allotted a seat must carry both original documents and self-attested photocopies for document verification and admission reporting.
  • MCC will conduct counselling for 15% AIQ seats, AIIMS, JIPMER, ESIC, AFMS, and deemed/central universities.
  • State counselling for the remaining 85% of seats will be conducted separately by individual state authorities.
  • MCC counselling schedule is expected to be released soon after the result declaration.
  • NEET counselling includes Round 1, Round 2, Mop-up Round, and Stray Vacancy Round.

AIQ vs State Quota: Which Counselling Applies to You

NEET UG 2026 seats are divided between two pools. You can apply to both at the same time but must register separately for each.

Feature AIQ (15%) State Quota (85%)
Seats covered 15% of government medical college seats + all deemed and central university seats 85% of government medical college seats in your home state
Conducting authority Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) State medical counselling authority
Registration portal mcc.nic.in State-specific portal (varies)
Eligibility to apply All qualified NEET UG 2026 students across India State domicile holders (rules vary by state)
Domicile certificate needed No Yes (in most states)

Students from Jammu and Kashmir, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana do not participate in AIQ for government college seats but can apply for deemed and central universities through MCC. Registering for AIQ counselling does not affect your state quota eligibility — always apply to both to maximise your options.

MCC NEET UG 2026 Counselling: Step-by-Step Process

MCC AIQ counselling runs in up to four rounds. Each round has its own registration window so track the schedule on mcc.nic.in closely.

  1. Register and pay the fee: Create an account on mcc.nic.in. The registration fee is Rs. 1,000 for General/OBC students and Rs. 500 for SC/ST/PwD students. A refundable security deposit is also collected at this stage.
  2. Fill in choices: Select and rank your preferred colleges and courses. You can add as many options as you wish — there is no upper limit. Rank them in strict order of preference because seat allotment follows your priority list.
  3. Lock choices: Lock your final preference list before the deadline. Choices not locked manually are auto-locked at the deadline but it is safer to lock yourself to avoid errors.
  4. Seat allotment result: MCC publishes the seat allotment. Log in to check your allotted seat and decide whether to accept, upgrade or withdraw.
  5. Report to allotted college: If you accept the seat, report to the college with all original documents within the date specified in the allotment letter and pay the first-year fee.
  6. Participate in Round 2 for upgrade: After Round 1 reporting, you can participate in Round 2 to try for a better college or course. Your Round 1 seat is held until a new seat is allotted in Round 2.

Important: If you accept a seat and do not report to the allotted college within the deadline, your security deposit is forfeited and you may lose participation rights in that round.

Ques. Do I need to register separately for AIQ and state quota counselling?

Ans. Yes. AIQ counselling is conducted by MCC at mcc.nic.in with its own registration and fee. State quota counselling is conducted by your state authority on a separate portal. You should apply to both to maximise your seat options.

Ques. What is the NEET UG 2026 qualifying cutoff for AIQ counselling eligibility?

Ans. Students must have secured at least the 50th percentile (General), 45th percentile (General-PwD) or 40th percentile (SC/ST/OBC/PwD) in NEET UG 2026 to be eligible for counselling. Your scorecard will confirm your qualification status.

Ques. Is an OBC-NCL certificate from the previous financial year valid for NEET UG 2026 counselling?

Ans. No. For AIQ counselling, your OBC-NCL (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate must be issued in the current financial year 2025–26. A certificate issued before April 1, 2025 is not accepted and you may be treated as a General category student.

Ques. What happens if I do not report to my allotted college after accepting a seat?

Ans. If you accept a seat but fail to report to the college within the specified date, your security deposit will be forfeited. You may also lose eligibility for subsequent rounds. Always withdraw formally through the MCC portal if you do not wish to join an allotted seat.

Ques. Can I participate in state counselling if I already have an AIQ seat from MCC?

Ans. Yes, but you must formally withdraw from the AIQ seat through the MCC portal before the state counselling registration deadline. If you have already joined a college after AIQ allotment, resignation and refund rules vary by state — check your state counselling authority’s guidelines before withdrawing.
