Shree Guru Gobind Singh Tricentenary University (SGT), one of the best private universities in Gurugram, in collaboration with Dainik Jagran, hosted the Pratibha Samman (Honour of Talent) event at the C-Block Auditorium in Gurugram. The main purpose of this event was to honour the academic achievements of meritorious Class 12 Students from the 2025-26 session. As young achievers made the move from school to higher education, the event offered a great chance for students, parents, teachers, and senior public officials to gather together and celebrate.
Lighting the Path to Excellence
The event started with a warm welcome note, followed by a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, a gesture linked with knowledge and learning. In spite of sharing mementoes, SGT University honoured our chief guest, Shri Sibash Kabiraj, Police Commissioner, Gurugram, Shri Karan Goel, IPS, DCP West, and Mr Aditya Raj, Bureau Chief, Dainik Jagran, Gurugram, with plant saplings, reflecting its commitment to environmental responsibility.
The host highlighted Dainik Jagran's major contribution to society and media over the years. He shared that Dainik Jagran reaches around 28 crore readers through its print editions and digital platforms, making it one of the most widely read news media groups in the country.
From SGT University, Dr Anjana Dash (Assistant Professor) outlined the University's academic environment, its research-oriented labs, and the breadth of opportunities available to new students (such as Anvaya, a central academic body that manages all the academic clubs, at SGT University). With the help of a PowerPoint presentation, she explained an overview of SGT University, highlighting its courses, facilities, and the overall student experience.
Guidance from the Dignitaries
Shri Sibash Kabiraj, Police Commissioner, gave a speech about responsible decision-making, discipline, and health. He advised student's to make thoughtful decisions and to avoid consumption of alcohol, drugs, and other negative influences. Additionally, he advised parents to support their children's true interests rather than putting unnecessary pressure on them after Class 12. He encouraged the students to contribute to Viksit Bharat 2047 through diligent study and responsible citizenship.
Following this, Shri Karan Goel, IPS, spoke about the rising risks associated with cybercrime and social media abuse (especially among girl children). He cautioned students against accepting or circulating unverified information online and stressed the importance of vigilance against digital fraud.
Prof. (Dr.) Hemant Verma, Vice Chancellor of SGT University, highlighted the importance of making informed decisions when choosing a higher education institution. He encouraged students to choose universities that are in line with their long-term objectives and aspirations by talking about SGT University's industry-oriented curriculum, research possibilities, and career development programs.
In the concluding address, Mr Aditya Raj drew on the teachings of Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, reflecting that an individual's character should be evident in their conduct, values, and work.
Honouring the Achievers
One of the highlights of the event was the award ceremony, where nearly 500 students who had scored 70% and above in their 12th board examinations were given medals and certificates, a great way to acknowledge their hard work and achievements. The awards were conferred by Shri Sibash Kabiraj, alongside Shri Karan Goel, IPS, Prof. (Dr.) Hemant Verma Sir, Dr Joginder Sir, Mr Amrit Chawla Sir.
Alongside the recognition, students and parents were able to discuss higher education pathways with the University's academic counsellors, faculty members, including programme options and the merit-based scholarship support available to eligible candidates.
