7 lakes of the college a beautiful campus.
Infrastructure of campus like lecture room, hostel, library etc.
College life is so joyful there are many fest organised by different society.

Dislikes

Very rush campus life, fast forward life.
Old hostels are not that good as new hostel.
Nearest Railway station and airport are much far away from the college.

Admission:

It is India's first II; other than that, IIM A is the best college for an MBA, IIM B is also best, but it prefers work ex-people, but IIM C is best for those who do not have work ex and interestFinanceance; if you are interested iFinanceance, it is the best college over IIM A.

The seniors here are very friendly and the teaching is excellent with case study based learning and practical approach

Dislikes

The infrastructure of the hostels especially the hostel named new hostel considering the weather here living here without an ac is too difficult
First day after coming here first thing bought was a table fan and everyone here was doing the same which felt a bit problematic after paying such a hefty fees

Admission:

The eligibility for this course is having a bachelor's degree with minimum of 55% of marks and then the cut off for CAT exam varies from student to student. They calculate the composite scores for every student considering different factors like academic background, work experience, gender diversity, past academics, etc. I would recommend that the institute should have a fair shortlisting criteria which should be disclosed to everyone because I saw people topping the CAT exam still not getting calls from institute because of their strict criteria especially for general engineer male.

Life at IIMC !

Likes

Academics especially economics and finance faculty
Campus life and culture which is one of the USP.
Support offered for placements and different opportunities

Dislikes

Fees is quite high and has been continuously increasing
Location is quite far away from main Kolkata which has both positives and negatives.
Nothing much more. Most of the 2nd year went in COVID lockdown, so that was negative.

Admission:

Entry through CAT exam. I have taken CAT 2018 to secure the admission here. Application to IIMs is directly submitted through CAT exam which is held annually. Each IIM has its own admission criteria mentioned on their website, which includes different weightages to CAT exam, 10th, 12th, graduation scores, workex, WAT-PI etc.

High Fees: The tuition fees at IIMC are significant, making it a financially demanding option for some students.

Admission:

In case of MBA at IIMs, each IIM has a different criteria for themselves with respect to different courses. One requires to hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent with 50% marks in graduation, there's no particular cap for 10th and 12th marks but points are awarded according to criteria laid at mba admission page of IIM C. Application form is sent via mail upon eligiblity check (CAT Score and other factors such as kind of degree). Post application, a candidate may or may not recieve a interview call (different IIMs prefer pre interview WAT or GD) depending on cutoff laid down by the institute. On clearing the the interview, the selected candidate will recieve an offer letter both via physical and electronic mail. Voila, you're done, rest of the formalities will be over with once you reach the campus.

IIM Calcutta: Has its pros and cons but you will have the 2 most amazing years of your life!

Campus Life was a key highlight of the MBA experience: There are multiple activities happening at once, the ability to explore so many different things is definitely one of the best parts
Interactions with peers and faculty: You will find some of the smartest people here, with a wide range of experiences and interests. It is really interesting to learn and pick up new things from your peers, courses and teachers
Placement: Their is a very systematic placement process; There is a prep team to help us make our CV, prep for various sectors and do GD-PI prep and the placement days are really well structured too

Dislikes

Mess food: Quality was sub-par some of the hostel messes, there were mechanisms to register complaints but the resolution time was too high
Infrastructure: It is one of the oldest MBA colleges therefore infrastructure especially for the hostels is not as expected

Admission:

The process starts by taking CAT, after the percentile comes a cumulative score is calculated depending on your CAT percentile, category, previous work experience, your degree and your academic scores. If you are in the top 1000-1500 students you are called for personal interviews and questions are based on general aptitude & knowledge, interests mentioned during the introduction in the interview, previous work experience and educational background. CAT-related information can be found out on the official website and websites of coaching institites and post that all information is communicated via email. A few things that can be improved: instead of a singular test, something like GMAT can be conducted so that the result is not dependent on the student's performance on that particular day. Also, scores of the same field from different colleges are considered similar which is not fair since the scoring scheme varies from college to college - instead dependent on the college scores should be standardised

IIM C: The best MBA experience India has to offer

Likes

Campus life and peer group: the chillest IIM, freedom to live life the way you want, a very talented peer group to learn from
Placements: The best across India with space to explore every sector

Dislikes

Hostels: extremely disappointing given the kind of institute IIM C is
Administration: extremely ignorant of problems faced by the student body, stubborn, and resistant to positive change

Admission:

The admission process takes into account your CAT score, past academic scores, gender, academic diversity, and work experience. The application for it is through the CAT portal and if you are deemed eligible for an interview round, you're sent forms by colleges that have shortlisted you. The admissions process can be improved by expediting this entire process as candidates have to wait for months before they get their shortlist and results.

A comprehensive look at IIM Calcutta

Peer Group: As with any B school competitiveness is ingrained into every batch but when folks say that no one is left behind at Joka it is reassuring to know that it is not entirely said for posterity
Campus Culture: A culture which actually focuses on exploring interests and interacting with others over simple academic excellence was both unexpected and welcome.
Exchange Programmes: With about 100 people getting into the student exchange programme every year IIM C provides a great opportunity to learn in a new setting at some of the best institutions in the world.

Dislikes

Hostel Infrastructure: With the exception of LVH each hostel has small rooms and no accommodations for the extremely humid weather. The infra is ancient and liveable is the kindest word that I can use for it.
Placement transparency: With the concentration of power in the hands of place comm. it is very easy to feel like the placement process is not entirely fair for all. There are little to no checks for favouritism too.
Course variety/capacity: While there are some excellent electives on offer every year the variety offered often felt lacking and most people can't honestly say that all the courses they took were ones they were interested in.

Admission:

Beyond CAT the admission process is fairly simple and rather similar to that of other IIMs. You apply on their site once they start accepting applications, which is roughly the same timeframe as other IIMs, and they release their shortlists for interviews around the same time as A&B. The site is a touch antiquated and could use sprucing up though. More transparency regarding how profiles are graded for interview calls similar to what Lucknow does would be a big improvement.

Peer to peer interaction and working in small teams

Program fees is at the higher end and should be reduced
Campus life could have been improved if not for COVID

Eligibility is B.Tech (4 years) / Masters in another stream (3+2 years) Application: The application form can be found on the official website with applicable fees mentioned on the website itself. Application dates start in Dec and end in Jan mostly. Reservation: As per govt. norms The entrance exam should be in line with the dates of other competitive exams such as CAT / XAT.

Admission to IIMC is a two-stage process. Step 1 comprises clearing CAT which if done, Step 2 opens up where you are supposed to give PI. The college assigns mentors to all the shortlisted candidates for guidance across the entire admission process.

Your graduation score is a bit low but it depends on your institute too. If you are from a top college, then this score will be considered pretty good. Moreover, past academics are not the only deciding factor when it comes to admission to IIMs. You do have decent changes if selection viewing your overall profile.

As for the CAT Score, don’t set a fixed target and just aim for as high as you can. The cutoffs keep changing depending on various factors so what should remain constant are your efforts. Additionally, preparing for the interview is very crucial because it determines your chances of admission.

CAT, academic achievement, job experience, and selection rounds are among the major determinants considered in IIM admissions. Shortlisting applicants for selection rounds is based on CAT scores.

IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore, and Kolkata demand a minimum CAT percentile of 90 or above for admission.

IIMs demand a bachelor's degree with at least 50% or a similar CGPA. The higher the better the chance for conversion.

While a strong CAT score is necessary, scoring the minimal CAT percentile alone does not guarantee IIM admission. For admission, you need a good academic record, suitable professional experience, and good selection rounds.

First of all, bear in mind that there is never a 100% certainty of getting a call from a specific interest as there are many factors that determine it.

Considering your profile that lacks work experience and has witnessed a decline in the graduation marks, I don’t consider anything below 99.9 to fetch you a call from institutes like IIM Calcutta, Lucknow, Bangalore, and Ahmedabad. All these institutes only accept the best profiles and high scores. So unless you score a perfect 100, it will be difficult to get admission here.

IIM Calcutta MBA Cutoff is 99 percent but to get a call from the Institute, one should have a percentile above 99. The Expected GMAT cutoff is 728 for IIM Calcutta. The actual cutoff may vary. IIM Calcutta admission 2024 follows a two-step process i.e. Writing Ability Test (WAT) & Personal Interview (PI). However, IIMs do not release the CAT cutoffs in the public domain.

Yes, Class 10th marks carries the 10% weightage, and Class 12th marks carry the 15%w weightage in the Shortlisting for WAT and PI. The candidates shortlisted in stage 1, will be now shortlisted for the Writing Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI), based on the composite score. The composite score will be calculated using various parameters like CAT score, academic qualifications, and gender diversity. Candidates satisfying the standards of Round 1 will be called for personal interview on the basis of the composite score, derived using CAT Score, Academics, and Gender Diversity
